Round 2, Fight 10: Neo Russia vs. Neo Iceland

Third Gundam Fight
Round 2, Fight 10
Neo Russia vs. Neo Iceland

-Isla de Vieques, Puerto Rico -
-Floating Platform.-

December 8th

It was just about noon in Puerto Rico, the crystal clear waves lapped against the shore of the beach. Spectators where there in masses, it was such a nice locale, it was hot that was for sure. The arena was a large floating platform some distance out in the ocean. It was recommended that the gundam fighters stick to the platform and the water, the beach was crowded with spectators who weren't able to get proper seating. It was mostly locals who where quite poor.

The announcer slicked his hair back, before brandishing his microphone.

"Wow! We got a hot match today!! All the way from Neo Iceland we have Tomas Magnussan!!"

The cheers that erupted from the crowds where pretty loud.. But weren't even as close as it should of been, considering the crowd. Before he could announce the Neo Russian fighter he was interrupted by the announcer from the Spanish broadcasting network.

"¡Cada uno Tomas agradable Magnussan de Islandia neo!*"

The locals then exploded into screams and shouts it was easily the loudest the announcer had ever heard. Feeling a little disappointed he went on with it introducing the Neo Russian fighter.

"And coming from all the way from Neo Russia is Boris!!"

The crowd gave another lackluster attempt at welcoming for the Russian.

"Y su opositor es Boris de Rusia neo*"

They exploded into a deafening tribute to the Neo Russian just as equal to Neo Iceland's applause.

Feeling at an all time low the English announcer mumbled. "Just...urgh...you guys know what to do..." He turned off his mic just as the Spanish announcer took over.

"y ahora, deje los combatientes señalar su preparación al juez!*"

The Vodka gundam was lightly armed for this battle, coming in with nothing but it's heat ribbons which where mounted in it's back pack slots also clasped in the mobile suits left hand was a beam emitting handle. It was defiantly the beam sickle. It was a lot quicker then the unwieldy Tsar hammer, and would be needed to parry the Neo Icelander's beam weapons and trademark sword.

The Vodka gundam went through various stretching poses as the crowd battle with each other.

Then it was time the signal to start was given and it was time to go. The Vodka gundam crouched slightly poised and ready to jump at a moment's notice.

"Ready..."

It was hot... which posed a serious problem, Tomas noted. Even with the AP Emitters working at full steam, it would take several more minutes than usual for the temperature to drop down to an ideal level. Tomas was simply going to have to hold out as long as he could.

The introductions finished, Tomas kept his gaze fixed on his opponent as as he crossed his arms in front of him, preparing the Aurora Gundam to launch the emitters. He didn't want to waste any time getting them into the air.

"Ready."

As the official got the match started Boris obliged, by making the first move.

"Daaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!"" He shouted spraying a quick barrage of vulcans at his opponent before leaping into the air, he managed to jump about twice as high as his gundam was. While in the air his right hand reached for the suits back and came back with a handle with a large piece of flexible metal attached to it. It was similar to fabric in flexibility but it had the toughness of gundarium alloy, it was also heated as it started to glow red with heat.

(OOC: Sorry for taking so long)

At "GO", the compartments in the Aurora Gundam's shoulders popped open, and the two AP Emitters were launched into the air.

Tomas reached for the Thin-Ice saber. "Alright, lets--"

But Tomas didn't get to finish his sentance, nor was he able to draw his saber as the Vodka Gundam immidiately fired a spatter of Vulcan rounds in his direction. Tomas cursed, diving to the left and landing in a roll while the bullets cut their way through the space he'd been occupying a half-second before.

Tomas remained in his crouched position as he once again moved to draw the Thin-Ice saber. Hot blue-white flame ignited from the blade's hilt. The Vodka Gundam in the meantime had pulled out its heat ribbon, the weapon in contrast glowing a firey orange-red.

What to do... what to do... Tomas wasn't in the best of positions at the moment. He didn't know what kind of move Neo-Russia was about to pull, but he did know that the heat ribbon could cause Tomas a lot of problems if he wasn't careful.

He decided to wait and prepare. Keeping his gaze fixed on the Vodka Gundam, Tomas subtly moved his free left hand behind his back and balled it into a fist. Neo-Russia wouldn't be able to see the subsequent glow of energy that the left Aurora driver then produced. Whatever kind of move was made, Tomas would be able to counter it.

...He hoped.

Whipping the heat ribbon behind him Boris glanced at the AP emitters that where floating in the sky. Making a note of them he turned back to the Aurora gundam.

As he descended he suddenly lashed out with the heat ribbon. Using it's length to keep him out of the Aurora' gundam's physical striking range. As he landed he pulled the ribbon back spinning it sending a wave of heat towards his opponent.

Crap... Fire did not go well with ice. Luckily, this attack wasn't so strong that he couldn't break through it. Tomas let out a roar as he swung the Thin-Ice saber directly into the wave.

The Thin-Ice saber was a unique weapon in several respects. It was a good blade, but it also emited the same type of energy that was produced by the Aurora Drivers. Anything the burning-blue saber wasn't able to shear through froze instantly.

As blue fire met crimson fire, there was a blinding flash and a crackle of thunder that echoed all across the stadium. For a brief moment, the Aurora Gundam was enveloped in blinding light...

Then as quickly as it had appeared, the light was gone, and the heat wave along with it. The two opposing energies had cancelled each other out. When the dust finally settled, Tomas gave allowed himself a small grin.

"My turn."

He lept from his crouched stance and charged at the Vodka Gundam, brandishing his still-glowing left arm. Activating his special attack, he aimed a punch directly for Neo-Russia's chest.

"SUB-ZERO FIST!!!"

(OOC: So i had my response all typed out in note pad. I went into detail explaining this combat sambo maneuver and it was niiice i was really proud of it. But i lost it when i mindlessly copied the link to something else before i posted it. So i'm gonna do this one lazily.)

"Blast!" Boris mumbled as the icy cool sword managed to diffuse his heat ribbon. It would take a few seconds to heat up again, regardless he dropped the weapon.

Before the ribbon could even hit the ground the Icelander was charging toward his left fist glowing mysteriously. The glowing was a dead give away, the fighter was gonna throw a left handed punch right at Boris.

He powered down his beamsickle and waited. When the time came he ducked right below the punch quickly hooking his free hand around the Icelander's waist and his one leg behind his foremost foot. Boris then pushed right at the waist. Boris was trying to take the Icelander to the floor. He was half hoping he would be able to put the fighter in some form of hold and have him forfeit due to pain.

(OOC: Of course it's your call strike if Boris' maneuver works.)

"What?!" Tomas cried as Neo-Russia tackled him at the waist and then hooked his left leg with his own. He dug into the ground with all his strength, but it wouldn't be enough to keep him from being pulled to the deck. Flipping the Thin-Ice blade around in his hand, he thrust it backward and planted the beam into the ground behind him.

The deckplate was solid, so it pierced it by about a foot. The air around the point of incision immidiatly began to swirl, however, as Thin-Ice saber began to build ice around it, firmly solidifying the tip into the ground. He was safe.

Tomas spared a glance at the digital thermometer. The AP emitters had only managed to reduce the air temperature to about twenty-four degrees Celsius so far. The ice wouldn't hold for long. He had to act fast.

The situation could still be salvaged, however. Neo-Russia had made a fatal mistake when engaging in the tackle: He had left Tomas' left arm free. Though he couldn't deliver near as powerful a blow in this position, his left fist was still aglow with energy... and it was still a bomb of icy energy just itching to go off.

"Nice try. But why don't we try turning down the heat a little?"

Tomas raised his fist as high as he could, then brought it down on the Vodka Gundam's back.

Boris yelped as glancing blow skimmed across his back. The Icelander threw a punch it would of been a doozy had it been thrown under normal circumstances but the awkward angle and lack of room to properly throw one really lessened the impact. Regardless the explosive energy tho a glancing blow was enough to make Boris collapse and almost fall over. He kept his grip on the Aurora gundam. He back muscles aching and his shoulder blade throbbing with pain he held his own somehow.

The vodka gundam partially frosted, and looking a little rough managed to right itself quickly. If Tomas would of made full contact with his fist, the strike would of been a decisive blow. Boris was running just on luck right now.

The russian slipped sightly. But pushed again trying to keep the Icelander off his balance.

"How about we turn down the cold uh?" He said as his gundam's head glanced up at the Aurora gundam, still point blank he yelled.

"VODKA BLAAAAAAAAST!!!"

A sudden powerful stream of fire shot forth from the Gundam's mouth plate. The powerful flames where strong enough to melt the surrounding ice into liquid instantly, and mobile fighter armour just a few seconds.

"How about we turn down the cold, huh?"

Tomas' eyes widened. "Oh, crap..."

He relinquished the grip he held on his saber and began to pry at the Vodka Gundam's arms. Neo-Russia's grip still held fast, but after that blow to the back then maybe...

Tomas struggled and strained as he pulled on the Vodka Gundam's arms. A bright orange glow was starting to appear around the Russian mobile suit's face plate.

C'mon...!

Finally, there was a snapping of metal and a grinding of joints as the Vodka Gundam released its grip on the Aurora Gundam. Tomas fired his boosters and summersaulted forward over the Vodka Gundam's head just as a scorching blast of fire burst forth out of its head. The flame was so intense and so close, he could feel it begin to warp the Aurora Gundam's armor.

As he landed, Tomas spun about where he stood, not one to let up on an opportunity, and with a cry delivered a vicious punch into the Vodka Gundam's back.

His knees still crouched, Boris quickly extinguished the flame that came from his unit's mouth. He jumped up and forwards pulling a 180 and making some distance between him and his opponent. The punch thrown by the icelander only hit air.

Boris' grunted when he landed. He was the acrobat here, not Tomas. The ground was wet. Either waves where lapping up onto the arena. He had to do something before it would freeze. But then again. Iceland was only called Iceland. Places like Siberia and Greenland where actually much colder. Boris began to wonder....

Boris readied his beamsickle, then shouted.

"DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"

Rather suddenly he took a defensive position, but with his vulcans started opening fire on one of Neo Iceland's ice machineabobs, that where floating in the area.

Cut off the source of his cold....and all he has is his own natural techniques

"Damn..." Tomas growled as the Vodka Gundam opened fire on one of the AP emitters circling the arena. Several of them went wide off the target, but those that did sparked as they bounced off the device's armor plating. The force of the impact caused the emitter to bob unsteadily through the air, its anti-gravity generators struggling to compensate.

The designers of the AP emitters hadn't been ignorant to the fact that the devices would quickly become targets once the opponent had figured out Tomas' strategy. The emitters were built tough, constructed with a thin yet durable layer of armor. It would take more than a few vulcan rounds to bring it to the ground.

Still, the Vodka Gundam's more powerful attacks would be enough to destroy it, and Tomas didn't have any spare devices loaded on the Gundam. It was time to step things up a notch before his key advantage was taken away.

Before he moved, Tomas glanced down at his gauges again. The right Aurora Driver was still charged at full capacity. The left driver on the other hand was down to sixty-three percent after his last attack. The Temperature was also down to a not-so-sweltering 16 degrees celsius.

"Not too bad. Few more minutes, and it'll be below freezing."

Tomas charged at the Vodka Gundam, scooping up his fallen Thin-Ice blade as he ran. Then he fired off four quick Aurora beams at the enemy fighter--two at his feet, then two at his midsection.

What was his game. Did he really think the cold would slow Boris down? Even if it did, he'd be able to melt it every time. They where surrounded by salt water it needs to be -21 degrees before it will freeze.

"It's not very effective..." And neither where the Aurora beams. Boris leapt over all four shots in a single bound. His vulcan's still firing, mind you off target.

Before he could hit the ground he ceased the firing of his vulcans. Lighting the beamsickle he landed behind the Aurora back to back. He spun quickly brandishing the ignited beamsickle in one arm. Slashing viciously right at waist level.

Tomas spun with equal if not greater force as Boris, swinging his Thin-Ice saber in a deadly arc of blue fire. The two beam weapons met in mid-air. The point where the blades crossed flashed and sparked, and the crackle of lightning once again filled the air throughout the stadium.

"Heh, I gotta admit, you're pretty strong, Neo-Russia." Tomas said.

He gripped the Thin-Ice blade with two hands.

"... but I'm stronger!!!"

With a great push, Tomas forced away the Vodka Gundam's Beam Sickle. He was wide open.

Tomas then leveled the Thin-Ice saber and aimed a mighty thrust at the Vodka Gundam's chest.

Boris was silent, a would be match ending thrust came his way. The Vodka gundam gracefully leaned back it's legs and back looking like it would snap. But holding together.

The russian then responded. "You're far too arrogant."

Like a spring traveling at a speed much greater then any of Boris' prior attacks, the Vodka gundam snapped back swinging the beamsickle vertically, putting the full strength of it's back and arm into it.

"S***!" As Neo-Russia prepared to strike, Tomas immidiatly drew from all the remaining energy in the left Aurora Driver. At once his left fist began to glow as he prepared for his special attack once again.

The two Gundams seemed to mirror one another as they reared back, and then lunged.

"SUB-ZERO FIST!" Tomas screamed for a second time.

The Vodka Gundam's sickle and the Aurora Gundam's fist collided, then appeared to explode. The combination of the explosion of energy and the force of Neo-Russia's blow were enough to push Tomas back several meters across the arena. He quickly searched for his opponent, but he could now only see a lingering cloud of mist and ice in the wake of the blast.

Tomas recovered and readied himself while he waited for the dust to settle. No way he's finished yet. Gotta be ready....

Away from the battle, protruding out of the sea behind the protective barrier that was fixed around the arena was the Neo-Iceland observation platform, where Linda and a few others stood watching the battle. Her appearance was calm as always. The only apparent sign of the anxiety she was feeling at the moment was the rapid tapping of her fingers on the console in front of her.

That idiot. Now he has no energy left in the left Aurora Driver.

It was indeed true. The blinking readouts in front of her now showed the energy count for the left Driver was now at 0%. She let out a small sigh. I sure hope he knows what he's doing...

Boris shock his arm, it was cold. Ice cold baby. He dropped his beam sickle to the ground, the unit overloaded when it took the blast from that funky ice punch. Besides some superficial damage and the loss of the sickle he had gotten out clean.

He took a step back his sensors adjusting to the fog, his heel hit something. It was the heat ribbon he had dropped early. Quickly scooping it up from the ground, he was able to pick up his opponent.

Without firing his thrusters he jumped into the air. Brandishing both heat ribbons.

"STOI!!!"

He yelled at the same time he sent both ribbons flying towards his enemy. They would find there way to his enemy's gundam in their cooled state. Only to wrap themselves around a limb or anything then suddenly ignite.

There was no time to dodge--there was barely any time to react at all as the ribbons came tearing out of the mist. Tomas slashed at the first one... and missed.

Well, "missed" wasn't really the correct word to use, as his blade did make contact with the binding metal. Not in the sort of fasion that Tomas would have hoped, but contact nonetheless. The ribbon wrapped itself around the the Thin-Ice saber's hilt, while the second one arced impossibly around the Aurora Gundam's body and ensnared it by the left arm.

Two seconds of struggling later, the ribbons burst into flame. Tomas released the saber so as not to have the Gundam's entire hand burned off by fire. The Thin-Ice saber twisted and boiled and soon enough exploded in mid-air.

Perhaps it was lucky for Tomas that the near blinding pain in his left arm didn't register for a few seconds. The now-glowing ribbon dug at and devoured the arm's meager armor plating. Only with a quick jerk and a jump backwards did Tomas manage to tear his arm free.

Now the pain registered. It was unlike anything he'd ever felt before. He didn't even need to examine it to know that the Aurora Driver was out of comission

Damn it all... not again...

Just how hot were those things anyway? Tomas grasped his burning forearm with his right hand and fired off a minimum-strength Aurora beam. The cooling sensation was instintanious as a thin layer of ice formed around his arm. Tomas breathed a small sigh of relief--that was one less problem he'd have to worry about.

However, it didn't solve the problem of him now being down an arm and without his primary weapon.

For several seconds, Tomas stood there staring at his opponent. The Vodka Gundam was an impressive machine and had a perfect control over the range of the fight. If he stayed at a distance, Neo-Russia would tear him apart with the heat ribbons. If he moved in close, then he'd have to worry about that flame thrower. He couldn't afford to take a hit from either weapon. He couldn't rely on his Glacier Shield to protect him either; the Vodka would tear through the wall of ice easier than butter.

In short, Tomas' chances of winning were, at the moment, zero percent.

If worse came to worse, he could use his trump card... but even that probably wasn't ensure his victory...

Tomas raised his left arm. Except for his hand, he could still move it well enough. Then eyed the digital thermometer. The temperature had at last dropped down to near 5 degrees celsius. It would have to be enough.

"As I said before Neo-Russia," Tomas began, "you're strong. More than that, you're one of the best fighter's I've ever seen. I don't think anybody's ever caused me as much damage as you've done here."

He then grasped his extended arm with his right hand.

"But that doesn't mean I won't be achieving another victory here."

There was a flash of light as Tomas activated the Aurora beam again and moved his hand along the length of his damaged arm, encasing it in ice. Encasing it... until he had formed a long edge that extended several meters--a blade of ice.

Tomas grinned. "So let's go, Neo-Russia."

A compartment in his right leg popped open and Tomas pulled out the normal beam saber that was stored there. Then he charged at the Vodka Gundam once again.
