4GFFG: Round One: Neo Philippines Neo Greece

The fifth for the Gundam fight is being covered by the SPANISH NEWS TEAM. A very strange program. I guess you'd have to speak spanish to understand it..even then it's kinda hard to follow. Their hosts are the mustached Enrique Guerro and the sultry Carmen. The randomly selected arena for this fight is the Urban city.

I'm cool, just ask anybody.

Re: 4GFFG: Round One: Neo Philippines Neo Greece

--Nyman/Freddie--

"Remember son, in-and-out motion, ok? Once you deliver a flurry, get out of the way of a counterattack and turn him!"

"Okay."

Thus, the Neo-Philippines will start its conquest of the tournament against Neo-Greece. In the past, Nyman has been a speedy fighter with quick fists, crisp punching power and ring smarts...as a boxer. In his few matches with his Gundam he has been able to translate his skills well, even wit and even adding some MMA in his repertoire, but this is the moment to test whether Neo-Philippines really has what it takes to keep up with world competition.

"Gundam fight," Nyman says with less hammy intensity, because his Gundam is already punching and boxing air, getting primed and warmed up for the fight.

Re: 4GFFG: Round One: Neo Philippines Neo Greece

Echoes resounded through the streets of the ruined city, a sound easily traced back to it's origin at the Hoplite Gundam. Polynikes had begun to slam his spear against the front of his large shield, the confines of the city making it sound like an entire line of soldiers were standing at his side. And, in his heart, Zabat felt the fury of his spartiate brothers from across time and space flowing into him. This would be a victory for Lacedaemon, and for Greece! After a few moments of rhythmic beating, he fell into his combat stance, spear held up over his shoulder, resting on the upper right rim of his shield, crouched low and ready for the fight.

He scanned the arena; an old city made for narrow streets, perfect for his defensive maneuvers, but his opponent seemed light and mobile; he would need to deny that advantage, something the city would help with. Maybe. These fights could be so unpredictable.

"For the glory and honor, GUNDAM FIGHT, ready?" Polynikes began, his phalanx bits detaching as did, beam blade at the tip of his spear igniting in a blaze of fury, it's heat spike opposite at the end beginning to flow with power as well.

"GO!" he shouted, marking the occasion by furrowing his brow and firing off a hail of vulcan fire, less intended to wound and more simply to mark the beginning of the fight, one that would begin his climb to victory!

Re: 4GFFG: Round One: Neo Philippines Neo Greece

--Nyman--

"Go!~" Nyman shouts at the same time Polynikes did (cue split screen of character faces at this instant).

And they're off! The Hoplite wastes no time firing right away as an opening gambit, but its fighter would soon realize that the Pacman is aiming to up the ante and the pace....fast. This would be evidenced as Nyman uses the thrusters mounted at its legs to sprint quickly towards its opponent, causing cracks on the street at each blinding step. A slight veer to the left causes the vulcan fire to miss their mark. In the meantime, Nyman fires some of his own opening shots, with two blasts of the beam gun with his right hand aimed at the Hoplite to set up an incredible, intense melee action.

Re: 4GFFG: Round One: Neo Philippines Neo Greece

Polynikes felt the pressure against his shield, but the Hoplite Gundam did not move from it's defensive position, allowing the protective field of his special shield absorb the fire. Against ranged attacks, Polynikes had the clear advantage, and the greek warrior knew it. However, his enemy was fast and agile, which meant that he could not be allowed to get in close, an arena that Polynikes advantages would be reduced. His shield bits spread out, but the spartiate warrior knew he couldn't spread his attentions to thin to control them. Not with an opponent this quick.

"Don't think you're going to close in that quick, boy!" he shouted, thrusting his spear forward to ward away the opponent, taking his first few steps forward as he began to jab and slice with the blazing beam of his weapon, making sure to keep his shield as forward facing as possible; he would turn the opponents speed against them, back them into a corner. Then, he'd go for the kill!

Re: 4GFFG: Round One: Neo Philippines Neo Greece

--Nyman--

"Hmm, I think I will!" Nyman responds, as his opponent also tries to move into the center. It's going to be a melee fight, alright. The first thrust of the spear was avoided as Nyman momentarily moves his head to the right. Then, with the following stabs his Pacman Gunam ducks to his left and rolls under the thrusts, with the Pacman ending up to the Hoplite's right. Turn him, Nyman recalls one of his trainer's advices.

As Nyman ends up on the Hoplite's right side, Nyman ignites the beam blades on the tip of his 'gloves' and unloads a quick 3-hit body shot combo, 2 jabs and a powerful left to the side.

Re: 4GFFG: Round One: Neo Philippines Neo Greece

While no where as outright fast, Polynikes' own unit was nothing to scoff out in speed, and the foe was thinking too direct if he thought he was going score much with this. He was trying to get under the long like, and in a way he had. But what he'd also done was expose himself in a way; this boy was aggressive, but Hoplite Gundam wasn't perhaps the top rated defensive mobile suit for nothing!

He let the right ground anchor land as he began to spin towards the foe, using the leverage to speed it up and add force to his counterattack. His shield swung around, absorbing two of the combo strikes on it's edge, a fact that took much of Polynikes' training to keep the disk under control. The first of the blows, however, manage to sneak past his defenses, but the enemy found that even that was not enough to score a decisive hit; the Hoplite armor absorbed much of the strike, transferring the force into Polynikes side, but doing little actual damage to the unit thanks to the defensive field that covered the plating.

"Slick, but it'll take more to crack the phalanx then that!" Polynikes shouted as he continued the twist, his dory swinging at top speed to impact with the light enemy fighter with a hopefully crushing blow and send him tumbling away. Hoplite had an advantage in power, augmented by the power of the twist, a fact that would hopefully allowing him to crush through a block. Of course, Polynikes didn't want to let his opponent get too free to maneuver or escape. The phalanx bits he'd detached darted around, fields deploying as they moved to encircle the pair, forming a semi-circle behind the enemy. With any luck, the pike sweep could slam the enemy back into the bits, their defensive fields causing additional damage, and setting up for some follow up blows.

Re: 4GFFG: Round One: Neo Philippines Neo Greece

--Nyman--

Loud cheers are heard as Nyman's crowd-pleasing style shows itself, with Nyman letting out a combo. True, it didn't do much damage (even as a couple registered as hits), but it was flashy, and spectators who don't know any better feel for the flashiness.

The bigger Gundam though steels itself as it prepared for a very forceful counterslash. Nyman himself brings both of his arms to block said attack. It didn't do much damage to his armored gloves, but it did have power, thus the Pacman was thrown back quite a bit.

Nyman, however is also a pressure fighter, and an attack like that won't send him reeling for too long. He's been named as one of the greatest pressure fighters of all time as a boxer, and his reputation will live on in Gundam Fights as he counters his Gundam's backward move when he fires up his leg thrusters and sprinted back into range, and into the Hoplite's left this time. His reaction time to surge back again made it so that the enemy cannot set up his offenses properly with those bits, something Nyman just noticed... "Ha, I've got to keep it real close then.... no problem!" Naturally, the bits would have hit nothing.

Again, he delivers a four hit combo this time, 3 flicker jabs and a powerful left to the side of the Hoplite. With its legs anchored Nyman expects his rhythmic lateral motion will prove too tiring for the pilot if he keeps this up. Also, Nyman knew what NOT to expect---The Hoplite Gundam being seriously damaged this early into the fight, but his next move will now depend on how he would react... he's knocked out people with counterpunches, after all...

Re: 4GFFG: Round One: Neo Philippines Neo Greece

Polynikes was not in for showy maneuvers or grandstanding. Indeed, he could care less about those watching the matches; their opinions were less than worthless to him. This was a battle, not a popularity contest. Such concerns where beyond that of a true warrior; victory was what truly mattered, victory and honor. He flicked his dory up as the enemy rushed back at him, shifting to his well-protected left side. Polynikes released his ground locks and steeled himself for the blows.

The combo found that attacking a hoplite's shield side was unlikely to gain much as the blows resounded off the hardy shield, but Polynike's arm was strong; he'd spent hours upon hours receiving blows to that shield, holding it up and defending against strikes of unbelievable magnitude. He knew he could be worn down eventually by strikes as fast as this, but his foe lacked power to bust through his defenses just now. He also was committing himself to multiple strikes, a fact that might have worked had Polynikes been such a defensive powerhouse.

As the enemy launched into it's combo, Polynikes moved into his counter. As his opponent's blows resounded against his shield he launched himself upward, using thrusters to enhance the blow, and thrust his knee at his opponents body, attempting an upward strike. At the same time, he brought the superheated 'lizard sticker' on one end of his dory spear in, attempting to ram it through the opponents chest. He was reluctant to do much more, not wanting to over-commit himself, though the bits that swirled around him reflexively pulled back into a defensive stance to his right and left, awaiting their next command.

Re: 4GFFG: Round One: Neo Philippines Neo Greece

--Nyman--

In and out motion! Nyman's thoughts of his trainer's words early in the fight rings in his head as he finished his four-hit combo doing not much but to draw some scattered noise from the crowd.

While his enemy has some of the thickest defenses in the event, his Pacman Gundam is one of the fastest around. His rhythmic evasion is his best defense, thus when the Hoplite started to kick, Nyman got the hell out of range. The kick instead brushed in the Pacman's face, marking up Nyman's Gundam quite a bit. Nyman himself felt it, but he's a boxer; he's taken plenty of shots to the head. Thankfully, it was not a direct hit, so no major damages, at least nothing strong to take his Gundam's head off.

Soon after the opponent tries to thrust with the spear again. It was a short timeframe between the two attacks by the Hoplites, but Nyman again uses his speed and sensor advantage to cleanly roll under the thrust. At a snapshot of the fight, the Hoplite is above ground still jumping, while Nyman is on the ground. once again, Nyman uses his superior lateral movement to jump to his right and fire the beam guns on his right hand to substitute for a jab, firing it three times underneath and to the right arm of the Hoplite.

Re: 4GFFG: Round One: Neo Philippines Neo Greece

The enemies counter-counterattack caught Polynikes somewhat off guard. How fast was his opponent? He'd underestimated the foe yet again, a fact that stung the spartiate somewhat. All this dancing around was certainly effective, if a bit womanly, but he'd come to the fight expecting such things. The enemy was keeping a bit of range this time as he attack, perhaps a smart move against mostbut hardly one that was going to end this fight that quickly. The bits to his right intercepted the fire; direct attacks where not going to work against Polynikes.

The Hoplite's spear slammed into the ground, beam edge sticking upwards into the sky as the unit released it and turned, arm dropping to retrieve the beam xiphos on his hip, crimson blade blazing to life as he drew it and once against assumed a defensive stance as his bits dispersed to his sides once more; they were a blessing, but he was reminded how they hindered his abilities to counter attack. Still, he would find his opponent. That was for certain.

He brought his shield back up, sword held over his shoulder, tip pointed at his foe and waiting for the next attack.

Re: 4GFFG: Round One: Neo Philippines Neo Greece

--Nyman--

"Hah!" Nyman exclaims as his enemy figures out that the stick will do him more bad than good. He acknowledges the shorter beam sword drawn with a nod, then will waste zero time ramping up the offensive.

"A defensive stance, waiting for my strike, then releasing a quick counter should I leave myself open," Nyman says, with a bit of anime cliche of analyzing the opponents out loud. He clashed the beam-saber like tips of his 'boxing gloves' on his Pacman to signal another "bring it on!", then charges, somewhat weirdly, then launches a right shot at the head of the Gundam... almost. With his blazing speed it would seem he's going for a massive hit... but it's a feint--Nyman would only narrowly miss the head by about a meter to the tip of his beam blade, only to use his superior speed and accuracy to hopefully goad his enemy into doing something aside from defending. Maybe Nyman can find his own opening.

--Nyman--

Whether the feint was successful or not, it is, in the end, just a feint. The enemy would notice the beam blade about to stab the Hoplite in the face... disappearing and suddenly loses power (in a short timeframe.)

But the fans rise up in anticipation as the beam blade in his left hand explodes with sudden power and brightens intensely!

With maximum handspeed and feet planted squarely, he goes for the head, for the knockout.

"Shock Flash!!!"

A Massive straight left punch in the face by the Pacman Gundam to the face of the Hoplite, delivered in a blinding speed fashion!

Re: 4GFFG: Round One: Neo Philippines Neo Greece

--Nyman-- (gotta go!)

"Nyman! Nyman! Nyman!"

After smoke had cleared, all the fans see and know what happened. The Pacman Gundam still stands with its vicious left still outstretched, its amplified power dying down.

And on the other side, the Hoplite still stands... with it's head gone and have flown a few hunderd meters from its body.

The Pacman Gundam proves too fast and too offensive, and it looks like Hoplite's neck isn't as solidly built as its shield or its body.

Winner by knockout.

"Are you alright?" Nyman says as he reached out to his fallen opponent, who hasn't said anything since. It may have been one hell of a whiplash, as his usually defensive enemy probably hasn't bit that flush a whole lot.

Meanwhile, Freddie congratulates his trainee. "Good job, son! Good job."

"Thanks... was just doing my job..." Nyman replies.

"Hurry back here to rest, after that, we have to knock out your next opponent."

"Got it!"
