Wraith/Icer

by the time the pair finally arrived at the research satellite Icer Had already shown a marked improvement. Wraith was pleased, after all he had selected this man for that very reason. This man had a gift rare even amongst newtypes; he learned new this with incredible agility.

Now that they had arrived though Wraith had several things to show Icer the man in Black armor guided his pupil into places where few had access even amongst the Higher ranks. Eventually their trip brought them to a large hanger where what appeared to be an enormous machine easily twice the size of an MS.

"Is this what that Von Hawker person was raving about."

Wraith shook his head silently his helm moving imperceptibly. then in a slow deliberate gesture Wraith pointed to Icer and then to the machine under construction. His meaning was clear; that mech would be Icer's once it was finished.

"I am honored master." Icer bowed to show his gratitude "But what will I use in the mean time?"

Wraith was still for a few moments before motioning for Icer to follow him again. this time He lead Icer to a standard hanger where a Ginn High Maneuver Type II sat; However this wasn't a stock model but rather was being fitted for a GN drive. Normally the Ginn HM II was considered an out of date commandeer model but equipped with a GN Drive the Machine would prove quite effective

- Taskforce Alpha -

Far from the Lunar Headquarters and oblivious of the raid taking place, the ships of Taskforce Alpha, led by the Nahel Argama-class carrier battleship, Pericles, had found and engaged the rebel stronghold. In fact, if not for one LLF rookies careless sinking of the Drake-class gunship, Xerxes, the Taskforce may have missed the natural cave that formed the Lunar Liberation Front's base of operations. Now the seven remaining ships were launching their mobile suits, with the Mobile Armours of Rogue Squadron taking point.

- Drake gunships -

The four remaining Drakes had finished orienting themselves toward the bases location and had begun suppression fire from both the vulcan cannons and the MLRS mounted on the four pylons sprouting from the main fuselage, pinning many of the LLFs mobile suits inside

- Salamis Kai cruisers -

The captain of the Trieste had already ordered all mobile suits launched and the Last GM III was already on the launched catapault. The Salamis was also adding its mega particle cannons to the suppression.

It was joined in its efforts by the Canberra who was just now launching it's second of the three GM IIIs on board. The ships mega particle cannons also spat out at the rebel base.

- LLF -

((I hope you don't mind this Kylern, I would like this wrapped up fairly quickly, so I'm bunnying the NPCs))

The mobile suit forces of the LLF neither numerous nor well trained. However, their commander had some grasp of basic combat and had ordered the immediate scramble of the mobile suits as soon as the one fool had sunk the Xerxes. Mostly equipped with older mobile suits salvaged from both the Fandom and Federation, they were still more than a match for the flanked gunships. Before the Federation mobile suits could act, the large beam cannons and anti-ship missiles from the LLF GINNs crippled the Law and outright destroyed the Antigonos. The unfortunate Law was finished of by a few well placed shots from the LLF GM IIs and Strike Daggers.

- Rogue Squadron -

As the forces moved to threaten the remaining ships, four of the were destroyed by the arrival of Rogue Squadron's Red Flight. The large beam cannons of Donos and Phanan's ReZELS, transformed to mobile suit mode, spat out again and claimed another two Strike Daggers, while Celchu, Face and Tainer ReZELs, still in MA mode, all weaved closer through the fire directed their way and fired back from their beam rifles and shield mounted beam cannons.

Just as the mobile suit forces turned to face this new threat, the pilots of Blue Flight appeared from above with Tyria, Inyri and Ayin's large beam cannons fired and caught five of the LLF mobile suits while Coran, Falynn and Castin begun a close assault, supporting their commander and his team.

Ayin himself was close behind him comrades, rapid firing the fire-linked beam cannons mounted on either side of BWS, catching a particularly slow GINN, taking off one arm and half of one leg before striking square in centre of the torso, vaporising the pilot and causing the suit to fall slowing back to the lunar surface before detonating in a small pink explosion.

As he dodged some in coming fire, Ayin thought to himself that it all semed so easy, to come so naturally, it unnerved him. Hell, even that he could think such distracting thoughts in the heat of battle was so just so... wrong, that he felt alien to this people he called comrade.

((If Erwin and Dreacon don't post soon, I'm gonna have to wrap this up without them. Fandom post will follow tomorrow, introducing Tyber Zann's Harbingers (commander).))

-Mai-

Mai nodded, “I can do this, and…” Should she tell him about her ambitions? That she would fight her way up to a place where she could bring this war to an end? Would he even take her seriously? “And I have my reasons,” Was all she ended up saying.

Mai stood up from her seat and started making her way towards the door, “I need to get ready, and I’d like to make some final checks to my new cockpit systems, Excuse me. Sir”

***

Mai arrived in the locker room outside the hanger and took a shower before changing into a normal suit. She tied her wet hair back and grabbed a helmet. Sailing through the hatch to the hanger, Mai angled her path to take her to her Jegan. As she drifted a gaggle of pilots caught her eye. These weren’t the aces, they were regular soldiers like Mai. One of them waved at her. Mai waved back. Should she head over their and introduce herself? Get to know these people? These comrades?

No, not yet. She had to finish all sorts of calibrations to her Jegan and the memories of people lost were still too fresh. She reached her Jegan and went inside to work until it was time to sortie.

- Maarek -

Looking after the one time civilian pilot as she left the room, Maarek felt her resolve and knew she would serve well. As the last to leave, he switched off all the electronics in the room and, informing Rawn of the readiness off the pilots as the Grey wolf and it's escorts made they're way toward the moon.

---------------

Meanwhile...

- Merciless -

As the fleet was en route to the embattled Federation base and all the necessary plans had been laid out and distributed to his individual commanders, Tyber Zann had some time to himself. Descending, Urai Fen as ever by his side, into the deeper levels of his customised and personalised ship, he swiped an access card that only he and one other person had copies of. The door opened with a dramatic hiss, and the Fandom commander and his bodyguard stepped through.

On the other side was a large communal space that led off to many other rooms. Inhabiting this space was Zann's personal army of shock troops, the Defilers. Equipped with suits of deep red coloured Power Armour with a direct neural interface from the wearers nervous system to the fiber bundles that made up the suits musculature, increasing the wearers strength several times over.

The armour was an attempt by Zann to replicate the armour of the Dark Star Knight, Raven, whom he had seen once at some important event, long lost to memory. Unable to attain the same sleekness that the Knight's armour possessed, Zann instead had opted for a bulkier design that increased the wearers physical capabilities.

The soldiers themselves had been modifed quite extensively themselves. Already at the peak of human condition, the inclusion of multiple organ implants and enhancements similar to the Federation's Cyber Newtype program, though these soldiers were not Newtypes in any way, shape or form. Selected through a gruelling set of physical and often fatal, trials, the total number of his troops, or 'Space Marines', as Zann sometime called them, did not exceed 100 individuals. The general modus operandi was to clear out captured facilities, were their thick ceramite armour was an advantage in often vicious room to room fighting.

Zann and Urai had come to this space to meet the commander of the Defilers, the oldest and most experienced warrior known as Aurelius.

-Salvation-

The Gundam went down easily and the ship began to pull back out of the fight as the enemy forces started to fight back. But that didn't mean it didn't quit firing. It was a good size ship at 250meters but it wasn't equip to deal with these numbers. The stealth vessel was best was a hit and run weapon using its impressive sub-light engines. This whole battle was insane and the Captain knew they wouldn't last too long.

So in their own defense the Salvation continued to fire its heavy guns at the enemy while using its four heavy missile launchers to launch cruise missiles at the enemy ships trying to make their way into battle.

The Cheyenne's unleashed their own combination of beam gatling guns and heavy cannons into the onslaught of mecha. The Konig also unloaded its massive cannons on the enemy formation using shrapnal rounds to deliver a cloud metal into their way.

-Wolf Dragoons-

The four VF-11Gs were having a hell of a time trying to survive the waves of attack. Their beam gunpods were blazing as well as volleys of micromissiles to keep their foes busy. Their pulse guns tried to shoot down to the incoming missiles from the GM IIIs but one of the Valks took a hard hit knocking the unit back into the hull of the Salvation. Its 13meter tall body was smaller than its opponents and even with its energy converting armor the machines couldn't take this sort of punishment.

-Ryder-

He could see the battle forcing them back and moved into the path of the incoming enemy forces. He put his full barrier to use and tried to absorb fire while dumping his stash of missiles into their formation. They were withdrawing while they could still put up a defense.

-LLF-

Like a pack of raptors the Lunar Liberation Front forces decended onto the base as the lead unit unleashed all four of its heavy beam cannons onto the nearest Federation ship. Behind it the three Invader bombers unleashed all their missiles onto the base. With them the two VF-11s started to move to secure the nuclear cache while the 6 VF-5000s provided cover.

((Kylern, quick question. Which ships are you shooting at?))

- Arzachel vicinity -

The team the Salvation were feeling buoyed up by their meagre success and thirsty to avenge their fallen comrades. The concentrated fire from the enemy ship destroyed two of the Daggers, halving their number and another of the Jegans. The GM IIIs uncapped their large hip-mounted missiles and fired them at the Destroid mounts and the ship itself.

The Heavyguns, seeing their route to the smaller enemy fighter cut off by the larger one, the pilots, correctly assuming that it was a commander unit, charged in, beam rifles blazing.

The remaining Jegans and Daggers continued the assault on the Thunderbolts with their beam rifles, and two B-type Jegans emptied their rocket pods on the transforming mecha.

- Arzachel Base -

Meanwhile, the remaining defence mobile suits were trying desperately to prevent the flanking forces hijacking of dangerous nuclear material, The last few Guncannons lobbed solid shells from behind cover while the GM Cannon IIs laid down a spread of fire toward the raiders as the heavily shielded base was pummelled by missiles. As reinforcements were launched, only another 20 MS were able to leave before the hanger was blocked off completely and destroyed. Comprised of 15 Windams and 5 new G-Cannons.

While the G-Cannons moved to support the embattled defenders, now numbering no more the 7 units, with their 130mm machine cannons blazing, 5 of the Windams moved to intercept the Variable Fighters attempting to make off with the cache, moving with beam sabres, mindful off the danger the nuclear weapons presented. The remaining ten targeted the bombers with their beam rifles.

-----------------

ELSEWHERE...

- Merciless -

In the depths of Tyber Zann's flagship, the Fandom warlord was meeting with his Space Marine commander, Aurelius.

"How may I serve, my lord," the hulking giant said deferentially. The augmented soldier, like all other of his kind, was easily over eight feet in hight.

Smiling at the man's respect, Zann said formally, "Even now we make for the main headquarters of our enemy. We will strike him when he his most vulnerable and take his stronghold for ourselves. You and the Defilers will strike at his heart and claim his facility for the Fandom."

"Yes, my lord. By my fury they shall know the Fandom's name!"

Turning to his Battle-Brothers, Aurelius raised his arms and pronounced, "Brothers! Today the enemy shall know fear, for we are fear incarnate! To the last man and the last round, while the enemies of the Fandom still draw breath, there can be no peace! For the glory of the Fandom! For the honour of the chapter! Onward, to glory!"

At this last declaration, the gathered host leapt to their feet, roaring in satisfaction as they made ready their wargear and prepared to board their Thunderhawk transports to bring death to the enemies of the Fandom.

-Salvation-

The battle raged around them as the injured Thunderbolt was taken into the ship. The destroids mounted on the ship did their best to hold off the enemy missile barrage but one slipped by blowing the poor Cheyenne II into pieces leaving three left. The Konig Monster was using his heavy vulcan gun to fend off the pests now that they were getting to close to use the railcannons on.

-Ryder-

The Messiah didn't run as the Heavyguns charged in with their beam rifles. Instead he leveled his beam machine guns at them and charged in. The beam gunpod was replaced with a combat knife sheath in green energy. Spinning into the group he cut one of the mobile suits in half before delivering a PPB enhanced drop kick into the one beside it send them away.

-Salvation-

The captain stood up to watch the scenes of combat feeling as if their time was up here. A beam rifle shot hit the side of the ship causing the bridge to shake violently. "Order a retreat and ready the fold engines. Our destination is the DC fleet..."

The comm officer then relayed the orders as the ships units started to retreat as best as they could. The ship itself unleashed hell with its own firepower to keep the Federation units far enough away that once the Messiah was on board the ship disappeared from the battlefield.

(Their gone)

-LLF Forces-

Several Star Mirages were cut down by fire as they unloaded the last of their internal missiles into the defenders below. The Thunderbolts had located the cache and with support from the onslaughted bombers began the process of removal. One of the Invaders took a cockpit full of fire and was destroyed while the other two used their massive gunpods and beam machine guns to protect the few units.

Trace and his Nightmare had taken on the brunt of the enemy forces... Gunpod blazing he used the two heavy beam cannons to apply more force as he struck at the newly arrived units while they were still deploying. They were almost done and despite the casualties this would be a boost to their future negotations with the Federation.

(One more post and I'll have them retreat)

- Arzachel Lunar Base -

As the enemy warship disappeared in a flash of light, the remaining forces, 2 Dagger Ls, 5 Jegans and 3 GM IIIs, all reversed their course and made their way back to the base to join their comrades in holding off the LLF forces.

((Just some more shooting at the LLF. As a score you got 25 of the 60 MS))

- Lunar Surface -

((Sorry Erwin, Dreacon. I'm skipping this in order to keep the story flowing))

The last LLF rebel MS had been dispatched and their lair razed with the Pericles' Hyper Mega Particle Cannon. Unfortunately, all of the Drake-class gunships had been lost to enemy fire and the Canberra had lost one of it's main guns.

They were making good time back towards Arzachel and all pilots were chilling out in their ship's lounge.

- Cain -
- Iron Lucifer, Luminous Eye -

Cain trotted down the extensive decorated hallway leading to the Luminous Eye, his long dark robes trailing behind him on decorative carpet. When he finally arrived at the large double doors, however, he did not enter. He instead waited for the Prince, who would undoubtedly sense his presence, to grant him entry. Eventually the doors parted and Cain entered the dome-shaped room, in the middle of which next to the room's central pedestal stood his Prince.

"What is they bidding, my lord?" Cain requested with a bow.

The Prince gestured for Cain to rise. "Tell me... what news have you heard from Miser's mission to Earth?"

"None since she reported discovering the location of the Key, my lord," Cain replied. "But surely... you are more informed on her proceedings than I am?"

"Indeed. I merely wished to know if there was anything she had made privy only to you. The two of you are awfully close to one another, after all."

"Yes... but there is nothing."

"Very well," the Prince said, nodding his mask once. "Then onto the primary matter at hand."

A gauntlet hovered over the device that floated atop the pedestal, and at once the room darkened and a shimmering projection of Earth appeared before the two men. The Prince turned to face it squarely.

"The situation on Earth as a whole is stable. However... all powers that have been brought to bear against the DC and the Gundam team are nearly depleted. Raven Sterling's command has been routed in favor of Garmin Aelfhere and the fair Lady's cousin Victous. Wan Fey Lo's consciousness has darkened. Zero of the Black Knights marches on a road that will certainly lead to his demise, in one fashion or another. And you, of course, know the fates that befell our Berith and Elya.

In response to all this, Cain nodded.

"The time has come for a new power to be brought to bear. I have summoned you here, Cain, because I believe that it is only appropriate that they took the stage."

Cain stiffined, just slightly.

"'They?' You mean... the Reapers?"

The Prince gave a single nod. "Precisely. I would like you to contact them for me. Tell them to prepare to mobilize and make way to Earth as soon as possible."

"Of course..." Cain replied, then hesitated. "If that is your majesty's command..."

The Prince turned. "You would have us do otherwise, Cain?"

Again, Cain hesitated. "It is merely... the Gundam Team has made it abundantly clear that simply bringing strong pilots to bear is not enough to see them defeated."

Once more the Prince nodded. "You are correct, Cain, as always. However... you should know these pilots do not derive their greatness from mere strength. You overlook the fact that the Reapers are a breed of pilot the likes of which the Gundams have never seen."

Cain had no reply there. He could not argue that point.

"I wish to test the Gundam Team once more... and they will be surely tested at the hands of our loyal shadows... in far more fashions than one."

The Prince gestured with his hand. "Now, go, Cain. Deliver unto the Gundams their next insurmountable foes."

Cain bowed deeply. "Yes, my lord."

(Gonna move along a little.)

-Steve-

"Now, don't be hasty, Miss Steinburg." Steve simply said, raising a hand out to stop her. Her eagerness to prove herself was a good thing, and something that Steve could definitely find useful, but her impulsive nature could get her into trouble. Nonetheless, with guidance, Mina could go far yet. "There'll be a time and a place to deal with Richter, and that time has not yet come. When it does, you and Miss Endeavor will know. Until then, however, Richter must be kept deluded in his victory drawing near, placated from doing anything rash that could affect Project Sirene negatively --- and above all, he must maintain the delusion that we are loyal to his own cause."

Steve placed his arms behind his back again and paced away for a moment, back turned to Enlight and Mina.

"I want to send you both to Earth to assist him for the time being while I deal with the Federation Council. You will meet up with another subordinate of mine who is already on Earth; Miss Endeavor, she will be made to follow your orders, and I would like you to take a new Mobile Suit down to her for me as well." Steve turned, nodding. "Your mission there will be twofold. One: You two will prevent the Gundam Team, or any other snooping elements from finding out anything on Project Sirene, because have no illusions --- certain people are investigating us, especially one certain person from the Divine Crusaders who had been sighted sporadically around Jaburo. If you detect him, engage and chase him off."

Steve sneered at that, shaking his head. He was, of course, talking about Shuu Shirakawa himself.

"The other is more subtle, and mainly involves Miss Endeavor. I would like you to assist Richter with his SPARTAN Project with whatever you could provide in the way of genetics information --- The faster his Advanced SPARTAN formula is finished, the quicker we can purge him. I must emphasize one last thing, however..." A pause. "Until we can defeat Richter and regain SNRI authority from him, the rest of the Federation must be kept appeased. Make no major moves against the Federation or their forces unless you have absolutely no choice and Richter orders you to.

"That is all for now, Miss Steinburg, Miss Endeavor. Miss Endeavor, how long will you and your fellow Innovators need to recover and resupply?"

It wasn't much but the Thunderbolts had managed to collect a few warheads as some scant reinforcements tried to join the defense. Too bad for them but they ran into a missile screen as a black stealth Valk stood in their way suddenly. The last of the missiles were launched from the units as the Thunderbolts retreated under the cover of fire.

"Mission Accomplished men, now lets get the hell out of here!" Captain Trace gave the order as several smoke screen flares were released covering the units in a radar deflecting fog. The units were in full retreat so they could load these warheads onto reaction missiles and regain their home.

- Arzachel Lunar Base -

- Federation Forces -

The Remaining defenders, numbering some 30 mobile suits of various types, sent some half-hearted fire towards the retreating Variable Fighters, despondent knowing that the rebels had made off with a small cache of nuclear weapons.

In the control room, the various staff breathed a sigh if relief as the battle seemed to be over. However hey had, in all honesty, been completely overwhelmed by the superior enemy machines. It left a bitter taste in all their mouths, especially that of the resident generals, who were still on standing by to escape on a Izumo-class battleship, the Victory.

Suddenly, the control erupted in a flurry of shouts and movement. A huge fleet, tentatively identified as Fandom, had come upon them during the skirmish with the Lunar rebels. The tired mobile suit pilots were hastily mobilised to counter this new threat and the Victory was prepared for immediate launch.

- Fandom Fleet -

With a wide sweep of his hand Tyber announced, "Let the operation, begin!" and his personal ship, the Merciless fired the opening shot of the first Battle of Arzachel. The bow-mounted positron blaster gun, fully charged, unleashed a torrent of energy which impacted and annihilated the administrative wing of the lunar base and hundreds of unfortunates caught inside.

The fleet's Chivaay Kai and Musai Kai cruisers and the Gwazine-class battleship set-up a barrage to suppress the Federation mobile suits and began unloading their own. Soon upwards of 70 Fandom mobile suits were bearing down on the Federation forces.

The Gaplants, Hambrabis and Asshimars ranged ahead of the slower Ga-Zowmnns and Zssas. They were joined by Silri in her Bertigo, spoiling for a fight as always. The Federation mobile suits put up a valiant, despite the circumstances stacked against them, but the sheer number of Fandom suits arrayed against them proved too much, and if the the Beam weapons of the Mobile armours didn't get them, the missiles of the Zssas or Silri's Bits did. The white mobile suits seemed to dance between the poor Feddies, sowing confusion, which either the Bits or another Mobile suit took advantage of.

During the confusion the Victory had managed to launch and escape, with no fewer than three pilots sacrificing themselves to defend the ship and it's important passengers. When this was pointed out to Zann, all he said was, "They only have one place to go, and we will follow them there. Tell Force Commander Aurelius to ready the Defilers for action. The Space Marines have work ahead of them."

- Victory -

Aboard the Victory, a call was sent out on all Federation channels to rendezvous at Von Braun City to put up a last defence against the Fandom and to cover the retreat of the generals abroad the Victory to the Avatea asteroid fortress, he last real bastion of Federation power in space if the Moon was lost.

- Grey Wolf -

As soon as Rawn received word that plans had changed, he immediately order the Ra Cailum-class battleship and her escorts toward the lunar city and relayed the change of plans throughout the ship, informing them of the loss of Arzachel.

- Pericles -

The news was received with shock on the bridge of the Pericles. Lieutenant Colonel Krager, his knuckles white from gripping the arms of his command chair. In a strained voice, he ordered the reduced Taskforce Alpha to change course for Von Braun and echoed Colonel Rawn's passing of information throughout the ship.

- Ayin Tollah -

Ayin was in the lounge munching on a burger, when the news came over the PA. Face and Tyria, who were with him, mirrored the shock in each others faces. Ayin himself was appalled at the news, his burger sat forgotten in his hand. That the place he had first seen as safe, to be overrun with what seemed contemptuous ease, it galled him to think about what this meant for the enemy.

His reverie was interrupted by Captain Celchu sticking his head through the door and telling them to get down to the hanger and on stand-by in their Mobile Suits. Happy to have something to get their mind off thing and doing something, the three pilots quickly made their way to the hanger to join the rest of the Rogues in prepping for another battle.

-Mai-

The head of Gavin Rend poked its way into the open cockpit hatch of Mai’s Jegan. “Looks like a change in plans. Come on we’re having a little meeting.”

With her adjustments done, Mai had been sitting board with nothing to do. “Okay” she said, following Rend.

The meeting room, it seamed, was an unused storage room with a paper sign saying “Grunt lounge” taped to the door. Inside, a number of chairs and a table had been unprofessionally bolted to the floor, walls, and one chair was even bolted to the ceiling. The storeroom shelves were mostly empty except for several bottles of liquor. There were also billiard balls and a helmet floating about randomly in the room.

At Mai’s questioning look, Gavin said, “Lets just say that we enlisted types don’t mix will with the ‘Aces’. So we made ourselves a little place to be, back when there were more of us.”

Mai nodded and followed Gavin inside, pausing to look at one of the billiard balls.

Gavin lined closer and whispered, “Don’t touch them. It looks like Sinn is trying to play Zero G pool again. She get’s pissed when people interfere.”

“I heard that Gavin,” came a menacing voice. It was even more chilling because it sounded like a child’s voice. Mai looked upwards and to her right. Floating up near the upper corner of the ceiling was what appeared to be a girl in her mid teens. She had a wooden mallet in her hands and a billiard ball directly in front of her. She wound up and struck the ball with her mallet.

Mai watched as the ball flew through the air to strike Gavin in the side of the head and bounce off to drift into the open end of the helmet. A startled “Gah!” from Gavin.

“Ha! Extra points for using an obstacle! That ties things up Isaac! And just one more shot and I’ve got the win.” The girl, Sinn, moved to position herself behind another ball and wound up looking menacingly at Mai. The ball was sent her way with a crack just as she pushed off the deck to send herself quickly sailing off towards the left wall. She bounded off that wall as Sinn cursed and said, “She just wrecked my shot!”

Mai came to a stop at the storeroom’s far wall next to another woman. One who happened to be really tall. “You have very good reflexes,” she said with a smile as she adjusted her glasses.

“Damn it Sinn!” Gavin shouted holding a hand over the bump on his head, “if you want to play your silly game, that’s fine, but don’t get the rest of us involved.”

Sinn seemed unaffected by the scolding.

The woman next to Mai offered a hand, “I’m Elizabeth Godard.”

Mai accepted the handshake, “I’m Mai.” She hesitated then leaned in closer, “What’s with that girl? Why doesn’t somebody bigger than her just knock some sense into her? Or at least put her on a leash or something?”

Elizebeth whispered back, “The last officer we had in charge of us tried that, Sinn put him in the sickbay for two weeks and he was too afraid to press charges afterwards.”

“Then the idiot got himself killed in the next battle.” Sinn said from across the room.

Elizabeth looked pained by Sinn’s words, “That’s not fair Sinn, Ensign Trig was a good man.”

Sinn turned away, “How would you know.” She said quietly, “Isaac, take you last shot and end this already.”

The other player, Isaac, moved from where he had been drifting as if he had been seated cross-legged. He collected an actual pool cue from one of the storage shelves and positioned himself near one of the remaining billiard balls. He held the cue the same as if he had been playing in gravity, sighted along the stick and took his shot. The cue ball he hit ricocheted off another, which then struck a wall, then the ceiling, before hitting a final ball which was sent into the open helmet.

“Show off” Sinn Muttered.

Gavin at last made his way across the room. Elizabeth, when she saw the size of the bump forming on Gavin’s head said, “Hold on, I’ll get you some ice for that.” And set off towards a small fridge that looked to have been hastily duct-taped to the wall.

“Well” Gavin said, “As you can see we’re an interesting assortment here.”

“So,” Mai said, “What’s going on? What’s with this meeting?”

“Arzachel bass fell.” Gavin said. “We’re on root for Von Braun City to hold the rear guard while the general staff evacuate. Apparently, there’s a large Fandom fleet already on its way.”

“Von Braun?” Mai asked, “What about the civilians? Even if the Fandom doesn’t attack the city directly, people will get hurt.”

“Nothing we can do about that.” Gavin said sourly.

“We could evacuate them.” Mai said hopefully.

“Yeah! Why don’t we do that?” This from a voice Mai hadn’t heard before. She looked over at the young man who had spoken. He had an enthusiastic smile on his face.

“Because there wouldn’t be enough time Billy,” Gavin said, “Besides, I’m not the one you’d have to convince.”

The smile on Billy’s face fell. The mood in the room was sombre. Elizabeth returned with the ice for Gavin. Mai started watching the remaining billiard balls drifting to a stop in the room as they lost momentum against the air. “What if we could buy the time?” She said to nobody in particular.

“There’s nothing to say all those people would just abandon their homes anyway,” Gavin said.

“I know that,” Mai said, “But what if we could buy the time needed? Would command listen?”

Gavin looked at Mai speculatively, “What are you thinking?”

“Well,” Mai began a little sheepishly, “I’ve been reading about tactics, and history too. It’s almost like physics. The defenders at Von Braun are sanitary while the Fandom attackers have momentum. The Fandom can easily overwhelm the defenders and keep pushing to storm the city. But what if we came at them with our own momentum?” Mai pushed off the wall a little and grabbed two of the billiard balls. She held one in each hand and lightly tossed them towards each other in the space in front of her. She had been careful to make sure both had the same speed, so when the collided with a *clack* they both stopped, dead still in the air. “If we could charge into their advance, it’ll halt their momentum, allowing the defenders to advance behind us and establish a defensive line further out from the city. Even if we have to use a fighting withdrawal, it’ll give us more time.”

“It wont work like that,” This from Sinn. “The second you start your charge, the fandom will focus on your attack and shred you before you got close enough to slow their momentum.”

Mai continued undaunted, “Not if we time it right. And not if we deploy from high lunar altitude. We can drop right on-top of the Fandom front line just as the city’s defenders open fire. If we hold off on breaking until the last few seconds, we can drop right in front of them before they even realize what’s going on.”

Gavin was smiling thoughtfully, “I like it, and it seems simple enough. I don’t know if you can convince the higher ups that it’s worth the risks just on the chance that they can convince the civilians to evacuate, but if it works it would buy us some more time.”

Sinn spoke up, “It’s better than sitting still while the enemy runs at you and a bunch of fat old generals run away like children.”

Gavin looked as if he was about to say something in response to that, but instead he said, “Well then, I guess I’ll try to get a hold of Commander Maarek Stele, if we can convince him this is a good idea, he can pass it up the chain.”

Gavin left the room to find the Commander.

Mai looked about, everyone was watching her, as if waiting for her to do something. Even Sinn, though the girl still had an angry look on her face. “Um… Well, is there a whiteboard anywhere in here, or at least some paper? If there is, we can work out some more of the details...”

- Maarek Stele -

Maarek was pacing about the ship's hallways, his mind whirling with new plans, discarding them and thinking up yet another, only to yet again discard it. There was just too many unknowns to make any sort of viable strategy. He absently rubbed the tattoo on his arm as his mind raced through plan after plan.

He was turning a corner near the mobile suit hanger when he spotted Gavin Rend moving down the corridor toward him. Drawing the other pilots attention with a wave, Stele expertly pushed of the walls, landing gracefully on the floor.

"Lieutenant Rend, (I guess. You didn't give ranks) are you looking for something?"

(He was a petty officer actually, but that was a while ago, he could have been bumped up since he’s senior among the Grunts)

“Yes sir, I was looking for you.” Gavin replied. “A bunch of us put our heads together and I think we have an idea that you should take a look at.” Gavin gestured the way he came, “It’s this way sir, if you pleas.”

"Very well, Lt. Rend. Lead the way."

Maarek was pleased that the pilots were finally showing some initiative. It was hard when all they did was follow orders exactly to the letter and leave all the hard work for him and a few of the other pilots.

- Arzachel Lunar Base -

When the last mobile suit defending the base fell to the awesome fire-power of the Fandom fleet, the Defilers launched in their Thuderhawks, the crimson gunships flashing out of the lower launch deck of the Merciless. The Space Marines then begun a systematic, floor-by-floor clearing of the remaining structures of the captured base.

Tyber ordered he fleet onwards, chasing the retreating Victory, a rather ironic name considering the resounding defeat he had delivered. The 23 ships of his fleet all re-oriented themselves around the Merciless and the fleet's Gwazine-class battleship, Asarum. Fanned out in a wide formation that covered each ship in overlapping fields of fire. Their would be no surprising this fleet easily.

-Mai-

When Gavin returned with Maarek Stele, it was in the middle of an argument.

“We still need a way to keep the fandom from detecting our launch!” This from Sinn. “Otherwise their ships will shred us before we even get close to their Mobile Suits.”

Mai realized that Sinn’s outburst was more at the frustration of planning then at anyone in particular. “Well, their’s two options I can think of. One is we deploy over the horizon from the Fandom. But the problem with that is if they can’t see us, we can’t see them. We’d be making out decent on a guess. And if we fire our thrusters to correct our path on the way down, we’ll be spotted.”

“The other thing we can do would be more accurate but it’s still risky--” Mai realized who had just walked in and stood up straight. Because she never went through boot camp or the like, she’s never been drilled on things like standing at attention.

“Um, sir.” Mai said hesitantly, “We’ve been working on this idea you see…”

"It is my honest opinion that we will not be able to make efficient use of our GN tech suits due to the lack of a charging facility. For you see, it is those particles that not only give the suits their power, but also help us function and in turn..would help project Siren. If we do procure a source of GN particles, I am sure that we can make Richter's usefulness..obsolete."

Enlight would also go on to point out that in every way she was prepared, but her mobile suits were effectively "out of gas" and were just giant metallic statues. If Livingstone could get his hands on a Fandom battleship with charging facilities...
