-Time Skip Week Later-

-DC 3rd Independent Special Forces "Wolf Dragoons"-

-Salvation-

The single Northhampton stealth frigate slowly moved along the border of DC controlled space on recon. The ship was actually the last surviving Northhampton from the Lunar Corp fleet and it was now home to the Wolf Dragoon squadron. Their job was to engage in rapid insertion and assault missions and the crew was highly trained for high speed fold engagements. The commander of the small team was Lt. Commander Kyle Ryder and his VF-25S.

Word had come in that Captain Rawn of the Gray Wolf had encountered pirate forces not to long ago and his ship and team were badly injured. These pirates were a problem even for the sparce DC fleet stationed on several independent colonies. These pirates were also in leagues with a certain ship and group the team had engaged long ago that resulted in the destruction of a major Federation outpost.

-Bridge-

"It seems we have been given permission to investigate these pirates and the secret group supplying them." The Captain said as he pressed his finger tips together and sighed.

"So that means our destination is the Outer Rim right?" Kyle responded knowing exactly what that meant. Scum lived out there and it could spell death if they weren't careful.

"Right... That means the instant we come out of Fold space I want all pilots on 24hrs alert. This ship will also go into full stealth in order to not draw unwanted attention." The Captain gave his orders even as the navigation officer was plotting the fold coordinates.

"Alright sir. We will make sure nothing happens to this ship." Kyle gave a salute and left the bridge.

"I can see we have our hands full now. But at least we have a place to fold to if the fire gets to hot." The crew had a safe point stored automatically in the computers just in case they bit off more than they could chew. It was one ship after all and despite its advance nature and the skill of its crew and pilots it was still vunerable. But at least it was one of the fastest both at sub-light speed and had the ability to fold. That made it hard to completely destroy them since they could easily escape any situation.

-Hangar area-

Kyle arrived in the hangar to oversee the small team on board. They had four VF-11Gs, the Konig Monster, the EX Gundam, a Phantoma, and three Cheyenne defense units. Not a massive army but it was perfect for their job. He was actually looking for one of the special pilots at this moment to let everyone know what was happening. He could call a general meeting but that would be a waste since it was standard defense protocol. Everyone knew what to do in case of attack.

The ship entered fold space on its way to the outer rim.[/i]

Alex Smith/The Twins

During the time the Grey Wolf was undergoing repairs Alex found himself and the Twins acting as a patrol. He knew that any confidence in him was gone; his new machine said that clear enough. He was even unsure if he was in charge of the twins or if they were his babysitters.

at first he had been pleased to work with them since unlike the usual rookies they didn't waste time with pointless chatter but over time their total silence had gotten to be unnerving. The three machines reached another checkpoint and turned towards the next one.

Faste Evist

Faste used the stop at Nighthaven to give his men a short shore leave and to check in on his "allies". The group of young captains all looked to him for guidance and support; it was an under the table alliance which gave Faste more sway within the guild than many would have guessed.

In total about 10 groups had pledged themselves to work with Faste should he ever need the help; none of them had much more than a Salamis Kai and it's standard complement of customized Jegans but that would still be a decent fighting force should the need arise. After exchanging information and news the Captains went their own ways and Faste made a final stop to sell off the remainder of his haul from before joining Melodius and pick up supplies for the upcoming month.

Nighthaven Station

After Haunsenwolden was destroyed after the infamous "Night of the Fireflies" during the Flame War, Nighthaven Station --- located deep within the Outer Rim, where even the Fandom couldn't touch it --- gradually became what replaced it as a 'trade hub' for pirates and smugglers. Unlike Haunsenwolden, which was a full-fledged colony, however, Nighthaven Station was considerably smaller; It was an old, considerably outdated Cander-class Star Base that was once little more than a backwater outpost for the Federation. Smugglers looking for a new home after Haunsenwolden, however, seized upon it, and Nighthaven grew from there after a few Corporations, seeing quick money, agreed in secret to resupply the station frequently; To this day, while no colony, Nighthaven was a rowdy, bustling affair, catering to the pirates' entertainment needs, and its surface always seemed full of docked ships --- some pirates even had to get onto Nighthaven Station through small shuttles or dinghys because there was no room for their main ships.

Such was the case for the Necronomicon, hovering outside Nighthaven Station's docking area and the size of the ship dwarfing virtually everyone else, the mass of ships parked outside and around the station in a messy pattern. There would be no direct docking for the ship here; Indeed, Gyunei and Heavy Weapons Guy had already taken a small shuttle and headed for their shore leave that way, and the SPARTANs did not need it --- if they did, Melodius would've just let them off the Necronomicon the same way, anyway.

"Where was Evist off to, anyway?" Tuxedo Mask inquired, standing opposite Melodius in the Necronomicon's war room, around a large, rectangular tactical viewscreen desk. Displayed on the desk was a map of the general Outer Rim. "The minute we stop, he saunters off. So uncivilized..."

"Leave him be, Tuxedo Mask." Melodius simply said, hands on the edge of the desk, leaning forward. "He does his job well enough, and here, we need a guide if nothing else. Even if he does turn against us, whatever he does conjure up in this area cannot match up against the SPARTANs --- they're professional soldiers, not mercenaries."

Tuxedo Mask cocked an eyebrow upwards at that.

"I'm far more concerned about Thrawn. Even separated and vastly outnumbered, he manages to survive, and defeat that amateur Gon Jem with a split-up force. And he won't fall for the same trick twice." Melodius continued, pointing at a certain spot --- and the map zoomed, centering on the Garden of Thorns. "We've delayed his advance for now, but he'll be back, and with reinforced numbers. Which we won't have. We had to lose six SPARTANs to lure Thrawn into that one, and SPARTANs are expensive." Melodius bit his lip at that --- expensive for Richter, no doubt. He was not going to be happy about losing that many spacebound SPARTANs in a single battle. "We need more information on Thrawn's strengths before we even think about our next move."

"So what do you suggest, Commander?"

"We'll stay in Nighthaven for awhile while I make inquiries and gather as much information as I can, and see what Mr. Evist comes up with." Melodius continued, looking up from the map. "Beforehand, I want you to negotiate with Nighthaven about a resupply --- We might be in the Outer Rim without any pitstops for awhile."

TM nodded.

"Then you can go on shore leave, too, TM." Melodius finished, and those words made Tuxedo Mask grin. Just the words he wanted to hear. "Maybe I should, too. I need to reevaluate how I did against Thrawn's named aces and contemplate a Level Up..."

At the bridge new information was coming in via the fold sensors showing a pretty sizable military force in the Outer Rim. The captain stroked his beard and hmmed thinking about what their next move should be.

"Alright we will defold in stealth mode and just try to figure out the number of pirate vessels around Nighthaven. I want our emergency refold coordinates pre-planed so we can escape immediately if trouble comes." He thought a little again as he brought up information provided by Kyle's team on the most powerful ship in the group. "Most pirates aren't sophisticated enough to locate us but this ship could be a problem." He put the large vessel on screen.

Kyle instantly knew what that was from the operation to capture a Fandom ship. "This team is the Necronomicon and is a high profile target for both DC and the Federation. It appears their being funded by some pretty high ups since they use a special soldier type seen in the possession of SNRI during several Earth battles. Its safe to assume these are the same guys under investigation on the Moon. When we defold I want that ship in praticular hacked and all information available gathered. Do you understand?"

"Sir yes Sir!" The crew responded including Kyle as the Captain set up the game plan. "I will have the squad on standby and armed just in case we get into a small scrap." Kyle added his own two sense to the conversation.

"I expected you too. Now ever prepare for de-fold." Kyle took off to the hangar to suit up and get to his Messiah. The rest of the mechs were also mounted and everyone was ready.

The stealth frigate then de-folded not to far from Nighthaven with all stealth systems up. They were sitting behind clutter and debris from broken ships that were never discarded of properly. And once they were in place with all eyes and sensors on the Pirates they began a stealthy incision into the Necronomicon's computers and began to crack the system using advance UN Spacy AI intelligence and technology. This might take awhile but they were an elite special forces and didn't mind the wait if it got the job done.

The hacking was actually smooth enough, and the Necronomicon never noticed the intrusion the whole way through. There were little in the way of significant data, however; There was a small file on Melodius Greye (although nothing beyond what Raven Sterling already knows; See Chapter 7 Space), the current Operations Commander, the roster for Shadow Company, and the list --- and schematics --- of Mobile Weapons on the Necronomicon and the number of SPARTANs in total --- 300, minus 6. There was also a log of its previous journeys, to Bree Colony, then the Moon, then Trinary, and then to the Garden of Thorns, and the battle plan for the previous battle.

But there was nothing on the Necronomicon's current operations, Faste Evist's own group, or their future plans.

That was what they wanted though since it gave them something to work off later. The stealth frigate finished its work and disconnected after running an anti-counter hack program. This erased the presence of the Wolf Dragoon and what they had been up too.

"We will wait to rely our discovering until we reach friendly space. No need giving the enemy a chance to intercept our transmition." The Captain then relaxed. They still had a few more minutes before they could fold again so they all sat quiet and ready. It was almost like the crew was afraid that if they spoke then the entire area would be warned of their presence and come out in force. This ship wasn't prepared for a full on fight with anyone due to the relative weapon lack they had on the ship as well as the lack of a large mecha force.

All in all the Salvation continued to sit there under cover waiting until the fold drives finished charging.
