Nighthaven Station
After Haunsenwolden was destroyed after the infamous "Night of the Fireflies" during the Flame War, Nighthaven Station --- located deep within the Outer Rim, where even the Fandom couldn't touch it --- gradually became what replaced it as a 'trade hub' for pirates and smugglers. Unlike Haunsenwolden, which was a full-fledged colony, however, Nighthaven Station was considerably smaller; It was an old, considerably outdated
Cander-class Star Base that was once little more than a backwater outpost for the Federation. Smugglers looking for a new home after Haunsenwolden, however, seized upon it, and Nighthaven grew from there after a few Corporations, seeing quick money, agreed in secret to resupply the station frequently; To this day, while no colony, Nighthaven was a rowdy, bustling affair, catering to the pirates' entertainment needs, and its surface always seemed full of docked ships --- some pirates even had to get onto Nighthaven Station through small shuttles or dinghys because there was no room for their main ships.
Such was the case for the
Necronomicon, hovering outside Nighthaven Station's docking area and the size of the ship dwarfing virtually everyone else, the mass of ships parked outside and around the station in a messy pattern. There would be no direct docking for the ship here; Indeed, Gyunei and Heavy Weapons Guy had already taken a small shuttle and headed for their shore leave that way, and the SPARTANs did not need it --- if they did, Melodius would've just let them off the
Necronomicon the same way, anyway.
"Where
was Evist off to, anyway?" Tuxedo Mask inquired, standing opposite Melodius in the
Necronomicon's war room, around a large, rectangular tactical viewscreen desk. Displayed on the desk was a map of the general Outer Rim. "The minute we stop, he saunters off. So uncivilized..."
"Leave him be, Tuxedo Mask." Melodius simply said, hands on the edge of the desk, leaning forward. "He does his job well enough, and here, we need a guide if nothing else. Even if he does turn against us, whatever he does conjure up in this area cannot match up against the SPARTANs --- they're professional soldiers, not mercenaries."
Tuxedo Mask cocked an eyebrow upwards at that.
"I'm far more concerned about Thrawn. Even separated and vastly outnumbered, he manages to survive, and defeat that amateur Gon Jem with a split-up force. And he won't fall for the same trick twice." Melodius continued, pointing at a certain spot --- and the map zoomed, centering on the Garden of Thorns. "We've delayed his advance for now, but he'll be back, and with reinforced numbers. Which we won't have. We had to lose six SPARTANs to lure Thrawn into that one, and SPARTANs are expensive." Melodius bit his lip at that --- expensive for Richter, no doubt. He was not going to be happy about losing that many spacebound SPARTANs in a single battle. "We need more information on Thrawn's strengths before we even think about our next move."
"So what do you suggest, Commander?"
"We'll stay in Nighthaven for awhile while I make inquiries and gather as much information as I can, and see what Mr. Evist comes up with." Melodius continued, looking up from the map. "Beforehand, I want you to negotiate with Nighthaven about a resupply --- We might be in the Outer Rim without any pitstops for awhile."
TM nodded.
"Then you can go on shore leave, too, TM." Melodius finished, and those words made Tuxedo Mask grin. Just the words he wanted to hear. "Maybe I should, too. I need to reevaluate how I did against Thrawn's named aces and contemplate a Level Up..."
