The Author of the Wheel of Time is dead

For fans of the Wheel of Time series this is a true loss, now he is not my favourite author but he was a liked one, I am upset today about this loss.
Apparently his last book, A Memory of Light has its outlines laid out, so it will be published by another author who is yet to be named.
To my knowledge this is no rumour as Dragonmount, Wotmania and George R.R Martin have all commented on the matter and confirmed that he died yesterday.
May Robert Jordan, or James Oliver Rigney, rest in peace.

EDIT: Eh, I mean AUTHOR, not AUTHORS, bleh.

Wow, this is horrible. I grew up reading his books, and though I'm not a huge fan now, I still respected Robert Jordan. May he rest in peace.

This is definitely a shock, but at the same time, I didn't think he would make it, given the gravity of his condition. I've read the series twice over the last decade, and although he's made preparations to ensure that someone gets the final book out, it's a shame he won't get to cross the goalpost himself.

He actually managed to even draft an ending? Wow, I really salute that guy. I mean, when I considered the sheer immensity of the whole Wheel of Time thing I doubted that anyone could end something that big in a proper fashion.

He's said plenty of times over the years that he's had the end in mind since the very beginning. Also, his wife Harriet was his editor, so she's probably more familiar with his work than anyone else was (aside from him). He kept a mass database of characters and plot lines, and recently he began to dictate notes on the final book. I don't know how much of a writer Harriet is, but working with another author, I'm sure she could finish A Memory of Light and have it be true to his intentions.

Here's to hoping that the book will come about, and come about well. In light of what he wrote in his blog, it would be kind of fitting, in my opinion, if George R.R. Martin were to do the honours.

For me, Robert Jordan's death was quite disheartening & unexpected, seeing as how, just months ago, the prognosis on his condition seemed to suggest that he was slowly but surely beating the odds (and proving his critics wrong in the process). Too soon, too soon.

Wished he could've seen it through to the last, alas.

I feel the exact same way, I thought he was getting better too.
Everything just seemed to be going so well.

This blows, I mean while I have felt like the last few books slowed waaay down I still enjoyed reading them and was looking forward to the next ones. This is really lame. What did he die from?
