Last one (finally) hit 25 pages, so here we go with the new and improved version.

I don't consider the games to be canon, because if they are, then we have two Megatrons running around in the movie continuity (movie and G1).

I'm not sure I follow. Look, the game has two Megatrons in it as playable characters: the one we see in the movie (clawed hands, scrap metal appearance) and the one from the cartoon (blocky, turns into a gun). If we're going to take the game's roster as canon, then we must accept that there are twin Megatrons in the movie's continuity, which is obviously not the case.

And who says the cartoon and movie are connected? They're separate continuities as far as anyone I've talked to is aware.

It's really not the same thing though -- the G1 Optimus and Megatron skins in the game are just extra content, not separate characters. They replace their movie-styled counterparts when activated, but it doesn't change the game; Jazz doesn't comment on Optimus' sudden retro fashion sense.

The Mixmaster drone is specifically Mixmaster in the continuity that the game(s) presented. It was designed to be Mixmaster in the same way that the other movie characters were designed to be themselves, and it's specifically noted as such. In that same fashion, the PSP version has several other characters included as part of the "moviefied" crew, including Wheeljack, Hound, Thundercracker, Sideswipe, etc. etc.

G1 Megatron doesn't actually exist in movie continuity; the G1 skin was just put in place to give old-school Transformers fans like me and (presumably) you something fun to see/do in the game. However, the characters and entities specifically built into the game's events do seem to have a place in the continuity.

Oh, i thought you meant the animated movie when you said "movie". Yeah, i agree with what swordoath posted. The G1 Megatron skin is just extra content and not to be taken seriously.

Transformers does have alternate universes. It's had them since the 80s when Japan took the series up and went off on their own little Headmasters thing instead of (if I recall) the last part of the American third season. All I'm trying to say is that video game tie-ins typically shouldn't be taken as canon, especially when they re-enact the events from the movie for the most part. Unless the game is clearly, overtly designed to add to the story (like that one Matrix game that tied in to Reloaded), it should just be taken as an idle cash-in. Transformers doesn't do that, and in many ways contradicts the movie (Shockwave as a boss during the whole Sector Seven abduction of Bumblebee, Bumblebee wrecking the Sector Seven lab and fighting Megatron after acquiring the Allspark instead of being set free and escaping with Sam), so I don't think any Transformers that appear in the game should be considered unable to appear in the next movie in a different capacity.

And the only reason Scrapper and Mixmaster are even called "Scrapper" and "Mixmaster" in the game is due to a fan poll to name the unnamed video game Decepticons. They could've been named anything, and as a result should further not be considered as canon.

There were also a bunch of other japanese-only Transformers series, Victory being one of them

Not to mention that the Japanese version of Cybertron (Galaxy Force) is unrelated to the other two and was rewritten into a sequel for American television.

I admit that the movie had a few cringe-inducing moments, but I enjoyed it. Didn't go in expecting much, and I was pleasantly surprised.

It's interesting that people either love this movie, or hate it like poison. I haven't seen all that many comments from people who feel neutral about it. I guess that's natural with a franchise that has been around for so long. Makes me wonder what the reaction will be like to the Live Action Eva movie (if it ever gets made).

I must say that myself, my mom, and my sister all loved this film. In fact my sister nos says that it's one of her favorites. In any case, to each their own.

It's really difficult to mess up a film about giant robots beating up other giant robots, but Michael Bay managed it. He's managed to shoe-horn in more American Army Porn(TM), the most product placement in any film since I, Robot, puerile and childish jokes previously confined to identikit CGI kid's movies, and topped it off with some of the stupidest and most obvious movie cliches you can make, all delivered by an ensemble cast of the world's most wooden actors. Seriously, why do people keep giving Michael Bay money? He's never directed anything of worth.

Why bother watching a movie you're just going to insult afterwards? That's three words: dumb, stupid, and idiotic. And it serves no purpose at all.
