The Mayans never thought that was going to be The End anyway. It is merely the convergence of the conclusions of several natural cycles they had observed. To them it was basically New Years but bigger.

Frankly, it's not even the first time this has happened.
In the early 20th Century, there were a handful of fringe lunatics who said the Second Coming of Christ was going to be in 1914. Then when that didn't work out they said the Apocalypse would be in 1975.
Surprise, surprise, 1975 came and went and nothing happened.
This 2012 crap is really just more of the same ignorant nonsense.
A calendar ending doesn't mean "ZOMG APOCALYPSE". It just mean the cycle's over, and then it'll start all over again. It's been happening every 365 days for who knows how long without incident.
Hell, it JUST happened again some sixteen hours ago* and we're all still here.
(*Depending on what time zone you're in, it may have been more or less than that - I'm in the Central US, where it was 15hrs 45mins ago or so)

Kotaku had an article debunking the whole end of the world thing. My question has always been we don't listen to the Mayans about anything else, why would anyone listen to them about the end of the world? Here's to another run of the mill year. Nice and mediocre, just the way I likes it.
