Presumably, the point where doing so was so impressive a nature-flaunting feat we just had to stand back and go "Whoaaaa...", like it was Bill & Ted all over again :roll:

Still, it's sad to see the Shuttles going; I was born in the year Challenger met its end, which was one of two explosions that year involving things with names beginning with C. It's just a shame that, as with Concorde, it feels as if we're taking a huge technological leap backward by not following the Space Shuttle programme with something even more advanced and ambitious.

Landing for Atlantis is scheduled for 5:56 AM Eastern Daylight Time. This is the last Shuttle landing ever, so tune in if you want to see it.
