Latest movie thread.

If models, manga, and anime have a "latest" thread, why not movies.
Talk about movies you've seen recently, no matter how old or new or obscure.
Be sure to comment about the movie with at least one sentence.

==============================================
Wanted : Story's a little convoluted for an action movie, but the action has that whole "That was frikkin' awesome!" charm. Loved it.

Ghost Rider : They could have done so much more with this, the fights were short and unsatisfying, and a lot of the emotional moments are quite cliche and many of Nicholas Cage's lines are almost dimwitted sounding. Not what I expected for a movie about a kick-ass biker from hell with a flaming skull.

Hellboy 2 : The Golden Army : An absolutely gorgeous movie with some really funny moments and lots of action. I was awestruck at some points. Loved it.

TMNT : I personally think that this movie should have been more down to Earth in terms of plot like the first and second Turtles movies (Let's not speak of number three, shall we?); I didn't like the whole "monsters from another dimension" thing. I feel the plot was too complicated for a Ninja Turtles movie; however it was quite interesting to see what had happened to the other Turtles since Leo's disappearance. Some may have been put off by the CGI, however a movie like this would be impossible in live action, plus the CGI is done REALLY well and puts a lot of other CGI movies to shame, I'll be nabbing the Blu-ray of it soon.

Why not, I'll just take what I posted at NHRV though.

Mandingo: Intense and a really hard to watch. Also, I've never been so happy to have been a product of the north. No offense intended

G Savior: This movie, while not as horrible as everyone claims it is, but it is absolutely lame. This movie in no way captures the spirit of Mobile Suit Gundam, and really is little more than a B movie. But then again, everyone here knows that already. No offense Shea.

Time Bandits: Mildly entertaining, though way too slow moving. It did gain some points in because of its absurdity.

Blazing Saddles: Absolutely hilarious. I don't remember ever laughing so much at racism before.

Eagle Eye: Good action scenes, but INCREDIBLY predicatble

Push: Amazing fight scenes, cool plot, but seems like a hodgepodge of ideas, like someone just turned on Adult Swim and opened up an X-Men comic and said "lets mix it all together", but it was a pretty cool movie

Righteous Kill: It's been done before and done much better

Zack & Miri Make A Porno: ONe of the funniest movies of last year, if you don't mind some really "vulgar" scenes

Hulk Vs: Hulk vs Wolverine is the best animated comic thing ever, and Hulk vs Thor is the biggest nod to Thor fans ever

The International: Ninety minutes of nothing for ten minutes of shootout.

Sex Drive: The bastard love child of Superbad and Road Trip.

The Wrestler: Mickey Rourke finally gets his %$^# together.

Apocalypse Now: Heart of Darkness, Vietnam style.

Psycho (Original): This movie may be old, but it will make you piss yourself.

The Hills Have Eyes (Original): This movie may be old, but it won't make you piss yourself.

The Mystery of Chessboxing: Beware the Ghost Face Killer.

Labyrinth: David Bowie should taken behind the woodshed and shot.

[Note: I'm a film major. I watch movies like it's my job.]

More later...

I just watched the first 3 Indiana Jones movies.

Raiders of the Lost Ark: Decent movie, no serious complaints.
Temple of Doom: Painful series of cliches that was virtually unwatchable.
The Last Crusade: Good story and acting, but full of lame action cliches. I laughed out loud at the turn of the century teenage Indiana Jones with a mid-80s haircut.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: Excellent. Not as good as I'd heard it was, but still amazing.

lol. Score one for Hollywood! Well anyways, my friend has a HDTV and a PS3 and we watched 300 on Blu-Ray again. The movie was pretty sick the second time, but I found the story to be rather shallow. Also, we watched Pineapple Express, and it was pretty funny. Not amazing, but funny.

A Scanner Darkly - Really really liked this movie, it's slow-paced, but it was a almost perfect adaption of the novel, the animation was great and unique , and robert downey jr delivered a great performance. :)
Justice league : the new frontier - Silver age setting was nice, voice acting was really good, and had actors like david borenaz as the green lantern and jermory sisto as batman which was pretty cool. overall a fun watch. But not amazing.

Yes lets take one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time out back and shoot him.

Anyways...I love that movie. :D

I watched a heavily edited version of Blazing Saddles last night. It's the 35th anniversary for that movie!! Did you know when they first aired it on TV they edited out all the flatulence? It was the first movie to fart in America apparently!!

You get the cookie of win.

Well I just finished re-watching Stephen King's Rose Red yesterday. I still love it. Stephen King's horror movies/books are like crack to me. XD

Other movies i've seen recently(well assuming recently means in the last 3-4 months or so) are....

Operation Valkyrie: Pretty good imo.
Sweeny Todd(Johnny Depp version): Pretty good musical, lots of gore n' stuff.(Which is good) and good songs.
Prince Caspian:Meh, it was alright.
Religulous: Maybe the best Documentary i've ever seen. I'd go into more detail but I might violate the whole "religion" rule.I debated whether or not to mention that I had watched it at all...I will say this(And risk getting banned, I guess) It's not a normal "lol let's bash religion for the heck of it" kind of movie that your probably thinking of. He actually tries to find out why they believe what they believe instead of just making fun of them. Which makes it even more awesome. Also, it's done by Bill Maher(If that mattered to anyone)[

Coraline:This is an awesome movie. I dont wanna spoilerize it but it's awesome. The 3D and everything about the movie was just unbelieveably awesome.

I just went out and saw the new Friday the 13th movie. It seems all of the horror remakes coming out these days are all getting the same treatment: More blood and violence, more swearing, more drugs, more humor, and of course more sex and nudity. I consider it as a horror/comedy/porno. If you have seen one horror remake within the last few years, I guarantee you that you have seen them all.

And there, my friend, we must respectfully disagree -- at least about our love of the movie. Some musicians just don't make great actors.

But that's beside the point of this thread.

Clockers -- A little overrated, but still good.

City of God -- If there'll ever be a perfectly-made movie, this one might come close to it.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly -- Clint Eastwood is the original badass.

Sukiyaki Western Django -- Despite the absolute idiocy of it, quite entertaining.

Forgot about this:

Dark Floors: I grabbed this right after Christmas. It's pretty amazing for a low-budget horror movie. It's storyline is original, the special effects are good, and it has Lordi (Lordi is a Finnish heavy metal band that won Eurovision 2006 and are heavily influenced by the rock group KISS.) They appear in the movie as the murderous creatures apparently summoned by an autistic little girl through drawings when her father decides to get her to a different hospital for better treatment. I could be wrong about some of the plot, but it's just one of those movies that leaves you to determine what's going on.

Two memorable ones recently watched;

2001: A Space Odyssey - I watch 52 year-old science fiction movies and resigned to the fact that they're not always that well done, and while 2001 didn't have anything wrong with visuals and is among the most revered classics, it was the most boring film I've ever sat through. I've finally found out just why everyone who talks about it complains about the ending, and the director really couldn't have made that part any more obscure than the movie version already had.

AVP: Requiem - Was alright overall, liked the Predalien (if that's what people are supposed to call it?) even though it didn't have much screen time. The maternity ward scenes brought it back closer to the horror genre to the first, but those weird new aliens were more comical than anything else, especially the new chest/stomach bursters.

Not exactly a multi-billion dollar motion picture, but recently I watched the Kamen Rider Kiva Movie: King of Hell's Castle.

Some new additions:

Grindhouse: Planet Terror: It's good. Unless you try and think about it. Then, it's still good, just weird.

Pulp Fiction: Actually, I re-watched it, I've seen it several times already. Amazing!

Reservoir Dogs: Once again, already seen it. Once again, amazing!

Just finished watching Venus Wars. It was amazing. What it lacked in story it more than made up for in action and animation.
