Query about Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Frame Astrays

I was poking around the Kadokawa Comic Ace manga section of the Gundam mecha portion when I found a listing for this new side-story series, naturally, I wanted to know about it, and as I first found out about it in my October issue of Dengeki Hobby, I would like to know if anyone has any info about it? I think that the image of the title suit was like the Turn Δ/ Blue Frame 2nd L/ G but with larger knees ala Demonbane.

And it showed Gai Murakumo with a new MS, it's basically a Hyperion Gundam without "Forfanterie" beam cannon and with a Strike Dagger shield and a new head...so, any info?

It's called Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Frame Astrays. Basically Serpent Tail, more specifically Gai, take centerstage. Not much has been revealed about the new Astray MS, but the Hyperion-like MS was revealed to be Eurasia's mass production type Hyperion.

That is good news, I love to see what the Eurasians' take on mass production MS would be like after seeing the Atlantics' Windams and Daggers, pity they chose to mass produce the Hyperion instead of creating new designs, but it's a start...not to forget Serpent Tail of course, everybody loves a rebel(or mercenary in this case)...

Information about it, from Gunota:

Sunrise pre-opened the official site for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Frame Astrays, the newest Gundam SEED Astray title from Dengeki Hobby Magazine.

The serialized manga is drawn by Koichi Tokita with scenario by Tomohiro Chiba (same as the previous Astray manga). It takes place during CE73 in East Asia.

Characters/Faction
- Gai Murakumo and Serprent Tail
- Trojan Noiret and Barry Ho : Nicknamed the "Fireball of the Jungle", Trojan is a guerrilla soldier while Barry Ho is a former Orb ace pilot.
- 3 Socius - soldier coordinator created by Earth Alliance. Genetically engineered to obey naturals. Earth Alliance created many of them and destroyed majority of them. He is one of the few remaining survivors.

MS
- CAT1-XG1/12 Hyperion G - mass production variation of Hyperion Gundam. This is a custom version for Socius.
- CAT1-XG2/12 Hyperion G - custom version for Gai Murakamo. It is painted dark blue.
- MBF-P04 Astray Green Frame - The 4th unit of the prototype Astray developed by Orb. Former Orb pilot Barry Ho gave it to Trojan. It is unknown how Barry obtained the 4th unit.

I find it ironic that there is now a "Green Frame". IIRC, there used to be rumors or something along those lines of one way before this manga was ever announced...

That's because the creator already said way back when the original Astray was being drawn that there were meant to be 5 Astrays, so along with this Green frame, don't be too surprised if/when the Grey frame shows up.

Considering it was recently announced, I'd say no. It's a very nice-looking franken, but I highly doubt that's official.

It would probably have been more convincing without the AS. I mean, the astrays are all visually identical except for the different colors. You want a Green or Grey Frame? Just repaint any of the previously shown three either green or grey and there you have it.

I doubt that any of the Astrays are compatible with the AS, though, a recolored Red Frame Aile would have been MUCH more convincing.

I'd also like to point out that the fan-drawn Green Frame has a M1 head. That should be enough to refute it.

Though now I'm wondering... The original Frames had their specialties:

Gold Frame: Alliance weapon adaptability
Blue Frame: Customization frenzy
Red Frame: Natural OS, handplugs can be used as weapons...

So where does the Green Frame fit in? Given its history with Barry Ho, don't tell me it has some sort of Trace System...

Where did you heard that from? I had never heard anything about this, would you mind posting a link to the place where you heard of this?
