as the token AoZ fanboy I've got to chime in and ask, what is the function of that section of the Lombardia shown in the line art for the Aswan Kai. (click that link to the TTT Arc to see it)

I'm not sure the Lombardia really does belong in the Alexandria class. There are some design similarities on the underside, and the design of the Aswan Kai suggests that they even have some degree of parts compatibility, but most of the Japanese sources just describe the Lombardia as a new type of ship. The Newtype 100% Collection volume that Pegasus mentions just says it's a Titan warship assigned to the Dogosse Gier's escort fleet, and adds "Only one ship was constructed, but it participates in the final battle alongside the Salamis Kai et al."

Now, I don't know if that means anything at all, but it is an interesting thought. After all, the AEUG is comprised of former Federation soldiers, so it's possible they drew upon what they knew when building their flagship. (MAHQ lists both Anaheim and the AEUG as its manufacturers.)

Given the visual cues and the presence of only one Lombardia (or so we assume) throughout Zeta, methinks the Lombardia is a forerunner to the Alexandria-class. According to my wild, baseless theory, perhaps the Lombardia was constructed as a next-generation MS-carrier prototype some time before the Titans descended into absolute corruption. The Titans took the development in one direction, culminating in the Alexandria, while the AEUG used what they knew of the Lombardia to create the Argama. Despite this, the Lombardia was still a useful ship in its own right so the Titans kept it around.
That would only work if the class was in work by UC 0082, since the Alexandras' were in final outfitting by UC83

It was mentioned earlier in the thread that the Hario makes its debut in episode 12, showing up randomly amidst the Titans fleet from then out before eventually disappearing near the end. A similar remark is made toward the Lombardia leading the Titans fleet in episode 42.

Does anyone have a list on hand of the Hario and Lombardia's other appearances? I don't have the eye for detail that lets me pick them out of a group of standard Alexandrias.

From Episode 46: Shot 01 and Shot 02.

Hario still seems to be hanging out with the Titans fleet. The two ships in the distance are indistinct, and what model I think they are varies with how I'm feeling on a particular day. They're not stock Alexandria-class, based on the presence of a large bridge structure. But whether they're additional Hario types, Musai Kais from the Republic of Zeon, or Salamis Kais still working with the Titans, is hard to distinguish.

It's hard to say what the futher ships are, but the one closest to the Hario seems to be a standard Alexandria-class.

The two further away ships do look like they could be Musai-Kais, particularly the one in the second shot. You can sorta make out what looks like 2 lower engine-blocks, a high bridge-structure and maybe some turrets?
Edit: thinking about it, the leftmost ship in shot 01 could even be a Chivvay Kai.
