I don’t know if this particular topic has ever been discussed, but it’s something that’s crossed my mind recently. What if there were Dagger versions of the Aegis and Blitz? For the sake of argument, how about if we call them Aegis Dagger and Blitz Dagger, and I’ve wondered if such units were constructed, what features from the originals would they retain?
Concerning “Blitz Daggerâ€, it’d more than likely use the Mirage Colloid system and would’ve been used as a stealth mobile suit, maybe for special commando teams. As for the “Aegis Daggerâ€, the only I could really say that if such a unit existed that a limited number would have been produced and reserved for ace pilots/commanders.
This is just something I’ve been wondering about, so if anyone has an opinion on this, please add anything to this.

Considering the Aegis and Blitz...
"Aaahh!"-The last words of many a mobile suit pilot.
N Dagger N
The closest thing to a "Blitz Dagger" there is. So that one already exists and does indeed use the Mirage Colloid system.
I don't really see any need for a Dagger version of the Aegis though. Any situations it could be made for can be filled by other existing mobile suits/armors.

Ya, the N Dagger N is the Dagger version of Blitz, if I remember correctly.
I would think that an Aegis Dagger could have many applications depending on the role it would play. Would it be a command MS or a first-strike MS or an interceptor MS? I'm sure there are others, I just can't think of them at the moment.

Actually the idea of a interceptor unit would be a good idea, give it huge thrusters and rapid fire beam cannons instead of that big cannon the original had, also you could redesign it to be a kind of transformable suit carrier, build on some kind of system that woud allow other suits to hang onto it and allow them to conserve fuel, another idea would be for it to be a kind of AWACS unit, give it better sensor and targeting systems, I think that the concept itself has many applications, though they would probably be very expensive.

I'm thinking that Aegis Dagger would be very similar to the Re-GZ... unable to transform, but able to be equipped with an optional backpack mounting the beam cannon, additional thrusters, and possibly grappling claws for the patented "grab onto the guy and THEN fire the big gun" manuver... The base unit itself would be little more than a standard Dagger, but the the backpack unit would turn it into a high-performance commander/interceptor suit.
Its advantage over the Raider Full Spec would be increased performance against PS-equipped units... not that a grunt should ordinarily be going against units with PS armor anyway, but...

Don't call it a comeback...
...in fact, it's best if you forget I was ever here before.

I personally feel that the Aegis is too speciallized to be considered for mass-production. The complicated parts and construction style doesnt seem fitting for a mobile suit, and if it had the Re-GZ style add-ons it'd just suffer the same fate as being too costly to MP.
However, I could see the Aegis MA mode being mass-produced somehow. Remove all of the transformation and docking systems and build the clawlike, high speed MA that backs a huge punch.

Actually, considering this quote and other posters' comments that it could be an interceptor unit, you guys should check out the Gaplant Kai from Zeta-MSV.It cannot transform, but is a mass-production version of the Gaplant intended for interception purposes. However, I could see the Aegis MA mode being mass-produced somehow. The Aegis was designed to be the commanding unit, available to oversee the others in battle and step in to any role if any of the Gundams are lost. In a way, its purpose is similar to the Strike, only without the need for specific Striker role packs since all of the multi-purpose stuff had already been integrated onto the Aegis itself.

OMNI probably didnt see the use for an MP aegis since an ms commander in a less specialized suit could do as well a job overseeing the battle. probably why there were so many MP strike daggers, dagger Ls, and windams, and so few special daggers like the long, buster, n, gunbarrel and calamity, forbidden, etc units. the aegis role as a heavy hitter and melee specialist could easily be filled by the long dagger or sword calamity and obviously the raider full spec seems more flight capable as well as having a higher payload.
oh well at least we know the aegis lived on as the saviour, too bad it didnt last as long or was as effective as the aegis, but thats another topic altogether

Well, the huge of metal on Nero's back *is* a huge claw that can crush Phase-Shift and somehow catch and redirect beam projectiles.
Buuut, to get back on topic. I'll also agree that an Aegis Dagger is pretty redundant, although it'd probably look pretty neat.

Seems like Nero Blitz has lost all of it's stealthy-ness

...How do you figure? Its equipped with Mirage Colloid, and makes constant use of it in all of its appearances so far.
Crushing enemy MS to death while invisible also just utterly freaking wins, in addition. XD
