RGM-79 GM Master Archive Volume 2.
Just curious, is there anything interesting contained in the GM Master Archive Volume 2? It seems like as opposed to the last one, this one has a bigger emphasis on GM types used primarily on the ground November and onward. I was wondering if they go into detail about anything we might not have known previously.

Define "interesting".J-Lead wrote:Just curious, is there anything interesting contained in the GM Master Archive Volume 2?
Volume 2's assortment of GM variants is a little more mixed... and seems to be made up mostly of special-purpose variants for differing environmental conditions and specialist battlefield roles.J-Lead wrote:It seems like as opposed to the last one, this one has a bigger emphasis on GM types used primarily on the ground November and onward. I haven't done an in-depth dive into it, but it doesn't seem to contain anything especially head-turning.

Well, a big thing I noticed is the fact that it makes a point to show a number of the mobile suits in numerous color schemes. Yuji Archana's GM Striker not withstanding, most of the alternate color schemes are ones we haven't really seen before or haven't gotten a lot of exposure, in particular the "standard" colors on the GM Desert and Armored types, the Blue repaint of the RGM-79FD that apparently belongs to the African District 5th MS Team (who must be special to some degree, considering we've seen the Armored GM participate on the African front in the standard colors,) and the GM Spartan's tan on green colors, which might imply deployment in a combat zone other than Operation Borneo (whatever that is.) I'm elated Takegawa actually used Fukuchi's original design as a base rather than kitbashing GM Kai parts for the Spartan like the gunpla, but I don't remember a good number of the unit colors we see in the book. The fact that the Desert GM and Armored GM have standard colors seems redundant unless the book's talking about deployment outside of the Middle East/Africa, or reorganization in the postwar time period. Then there's the Blue GM Custom that intrigues me.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm curious as to whether or not the book gives us any interesting new details on GM variants and their deployment in various theatres and time periods during and after the war.

Unlike Volume 1, there's basically no info about times or dates or production runs - it's all engineering specifics. Which is still pretty cool, but still a bit of a disappointment after Volume 1's info-bonanza.
