Yellow Baund Doc

What is the story behind the yellow third unit of the three Baund Doc prototypes? It has appeared in games and sometimes sited as Jerid's unit.

小説版『機動戦士Ζガンダム』の設定によると、ジェリドはニュータイプ部隊に加入しており、バウンド・ドックもロザミアが乗っていた機体を受け継いだものである。しかしこうした説明は映像中には存在せず、小説以外の設定にも明確な記述はない。
アニメ中でジェリドのニュータイプ描写は少なく、当時の書籍でも一般兵用に改良されていたと推測されている[5]。

黄色の3号機
黄色の機体のカラー設定画が複数の資料に掲載されているが、これは作中に登場していない。映像に反してこれをジェリド機として紹介している資料も存在し[6]、『SDガンダム G CENTURY』や、『スーパーロボット大戦』シリーズ、『Gジェネレーション』シリーズなど、2000年ごろまで幾つかのゲームにもジェリド機として登場している。『Gジェネレーション』の設定によるとこれは一般兵用の3号機で、一般兵では性能が発揮しきれなかっただろうとしている。
しかし、00年代以降はそれらのシリーズにも登場しなくなってきている[7]。現在は資料にも掲載されていない[8]。
「ニュータイプ100%コレクション」では、この黄色の機体をゲーツ機としている[9]。プラモデル『1/300 サイコガンダムMk-II』の箱に随伴機として描かれているのも黄色の機体である。
古い資料にカラー設定画が掲載されているのは黄色と赤のみで、グレーのカラー設定画は後年になって描かれたものしか確認できず、古い資料には掲載されていないか、映像の写真をそのままゲーツ機として掲載している。

So, basically the official information gives two versions:

-It's Jerid's machine, which has been modified to be used by regular soldiers (non-Newtypes). I'm not sure if it's meant to indicate that the color scheme is only for Jerid's unit or a standard color scheme for any Baund Doc modified to be used by regular soldiers.

-It's an alternate custom color scheme for Gates Capa, though I'm not sure if it's meant to replace the gray color scheme at some point in the story or if it's simple something like an unused color scheme which couldn't be used.

Personally I find the idea of non-Newtype use Baund Doc interesting, namely due to the possibility that the Titans might have continued evaluating TMA that could be produced at least in limited quantities. In an ironic twist, the Baund Doc shares the NRX code with the Asshimar, which is also a TMA that ended up produced in limited quantities for regular pilots.

In the books where it originally appeared, it was often labeled as an "NG" ("No Good", i.e. rejected) color scheme. But the Newtype 100% Collection labels it as "Gates Capa's machine," which would explain why it appears as an escort unit in the old Psyco Gundam Mark II box art. (Both of these factoids are mentioned in that Japanese Wikipedia entry.) I think the early editions of MS Encyclopedia first floated the idea that it was Jerid's machine instead, and it seems the games have picked up on that.

Ultimately, though, in the anime Gates sticks with his original gray colors and Jerid's machine is in Rosamia's violet colors. (According to Tomino's novels it's actually Rosamia's machine.) So this really is just a rejected alternate color scheme with no "real" application.
