I believe that the FX is the Age System accepting that it was a mistake to create the heavyweight Age 3 as the FX is as nimble as its predeccesors focusing on agility rather than firepower as the AGE 3 did.

I believe the HG manual states that Age-3 is independently developed by Flit. As for FX, to me it looks like they try to make better use of Kio's X-rounder power in order to compensate for his lack of comabt experience.

You gotta' admit, though. AGE-3 has some serious thruster power, that thing carried a Defurse, which weighed a thousand tons, to the sky.

So basically the AGE-3 was developed independently by Flit with no regard to Kio's fighting style or his X-Rounder powers. But the AGE-FX is developed with Kio's style and powers in mind. Hmmm...interesting.
