I'm (ironically) a little confused about this little trick Kamille pulled in the Zeta movies - is this an actual documented ability of the Zeta, or did Kamille just come up with it on the spot and decide to shout out an attack name like he was Kouji Kabuto?

From what I can tell, any MS with a beam saber and a beam gun should be able to do it.
I just don't understand why shooting the saber doesn't send it flying off in some random direction.

Is it ever made clear what exactly happens to create "beam confuse"? Is it just the minovsky condenser exploding or something else?
