"Lt. Barrique, forgive me if I'm wrong, but weren't you a pilot at Anaheim some time ago? I think I recall seeing you there. I've been working with the electronics team for 4 or 5 years now; before working with Dr. M I was on the VB project."

Richard stopped, straightening before looking back to Rem and the doctor over his shoulder.

"I was.. as were many others. But the more I hear about what they're up to; it's just one more thing that I choose to distance myself from.. my apologies Rem."

Richard couldn't help it. The more information he came upon about the Marasai's dumping into the Titan's lap, rather than flying alongside the Nemo's he tested.. the more it just sickened him. Melanie was a complete idiot, thinking he could just give them that suit and think everything was going to be hunkey dorey.

At least the tools running the AEUG had a little more backbone than that asshat in actually standing up to the Titans. That was why he actually pitied them more than old Carbine.

They soon came upon the second ready room, the space more or less sparse of people and motion..but the noise.. It sounded like Eckardy was at it again, and as he opened the door he cringed slightly at the choice music.

"Hey Eckardy, got a minute? And what's with the Vain Hoolen?"

-Ready Room 2-

The ready room was left alone for some time before the door opened. Rich Barrique, the new XO, along with that Rem Banner guy from the Mess Hall and some other guy, likely from Anaheim, who struck Eddie as a child molester. Barrique cringed and called out, "Hey Eckardy, got a minute? And what's with the Vain Hoolen?"

Eddie grabbed his remote and turned the music down slightly. "Hey, Skyscraper ain't Van Halen, it's close, but it ain't!" He yelled back with a grin, knowing none of them would understand the joke at all. He stuffed a bookmark, actually a movie ticket stub, into the book he was reading and droped it to his lap as he sat up and rubbed his hair with a hand. "And what is my minute needed for, XO? I'm technically on stand by alert." He said, flashing another grin as, across the room, Ian stood up and moved to one of the vending machines that offered various drinks.

As Eckardy looked up and turned down the stereo Rich could only chuckle slightly.

"Hey, Skyscraper ain't Van Halen, it's close, but it ain't! And what is my minute needed for, XO? I'm technically on stand by alert."

"Eh, all that Pre UC stuff sounds the same."

Rich shook his head leaned against the doorway as he continued.

"Anyways; I was wondering if you had any pukes that you wanted off your hands. I've yet to go to Fritz; but Rem and M here need pilots for some testing stuff Anaheim had in store."

Rich nodded back to Rem and M as he referred to them, taking a glance over to Ian afterwards as he went toward the vending machine.

Barrique chuckled, "Eh, all that Pre UC stuff sounds the same.", prompting Eddie to take on a fake hurt expression, as Rich leaned against the doorway, "Anyways; I was wondering if you had any pukes that you wanted off your hands. I've yet to go to Fritz; but Rem and M here need pilots for some testing stuff Anaheim had in store." He reported, nodded to the AE men.

Eckardy glanced at Ian, who was returning to his seat with a coffe tube, "Ya wanna go?".

Greydon snorted, "No." He said, matter of factly.

Eddie turned back to Rich, "Well, I don't think my modded-up S-type would help with testing very much," Eddie's grin grew slightly, "Cowboy'll likely go out and fly some s*** if you ask him to. He was in the mess hall, last time I checked. Wes Curren was there too-"

"I think he was getting ready to leave," Ian put in.

Eddie shrugged, "Whatever, if you find him anyway, you can ask him to, but," He got louder for a moment, "No offense, AE guys!" Eddie waved his hand and returned to his normal tone, "But I don't want to have to order any of my guys out on some testing run, pukes or not. I'll let them decide if they want to help you wonderful people." Eddie flashed a grin that could have come from a used ele-car dealer. "Anything else I can help ya with, Rich?" Eddie asked.

Michiko was about to turn around and head back to her own room when she heard Celeine’s lukewarm permission to enter. She stopped and took a deep breath before opening the door and stepping inside. Michiko was lucky she didn’t know what to say, because she was stunned; Caro’d looked like a wreck and it took an uncomfortable moment for Michiko to regain her composure. She nervously crossed an arm across her chest and began to fiddle with her uniform’s shoulder. “I uh, wanted to check on you. Fritz and I are worried,”.

- Outside Ready Room 2 -

Merkwürdigliebe had gone back to his poorly scrawled notes and was already in another world by the time he was following Rem and Richard down the ship’s hallway, and so he missed entirely Banner’s question about Richard’s former service with AE. They stopped outside the ready room and Dr. M was still looking over his papers while Eddie turned down their offer. “I seem to recall you were quite useful to us, Lt. Barrique. Quite useful,” the doctor said. He looked up from his work and observed to his partner, “Richard was one of my team’s test pilots. We did good work for the Duchy,”. He was silent for a moment before he realized his mistake. “Er, company. Good work for the company, of course,” he abruptly corrected himself.

Clute had arrived at the ready room while Richard was talking to Eckardy, and he waited for an appropriate moment in their conversation before he stepped in. “If you’re looking for a guinea pig, I can help you out. Don’t know about anybody else from Team 3 but I could use a break from… this,” he offered, gesturing around himself to indicate the ship. Everyone was enjoying the 4th’s downtime, but for some pilots the inactivity got boring fast. Behind Barrique, Dr. M’s right hand had clenched tight and crumpled one of his papers. He had to peel his own fingers off before it would release its grip.

Loweno leaned back in his seat as Emington began to talk. “Yes, Capt. I just arrived here and one of the pilot give me some situation report which make me wonder if there is some misunderstanding. I’m here to pilot MS, while I have no problem with leading a team I’m sure someone who know them better should take the job instead of me… In case that I’m the only solution you got…". Loweno actually cracked a smile at that comment. "Well, let’s start with the Hamburg role in the fleet, is she act as a support or is she has any fix position within the fleet? After that I should get some information regarding the pilots then I could compose their role in the team. I do hope that we don’t have any issue between pilots. Captain, I’ll try to live up to your expectation. When we’ll leave the port?”

André scratched his chin as he decided how to answer Emington. “Well,” he began, “In our current lineup, after the Chuikov this ship has been with the 4th the longest. As far as a role goes, we don’t really have an official one, but I consider us the fleet’s bludgeon. To be honest most people will tell you I like combat a little too much… and they’re probably right,”. One of the crew on the bridge chuckled. Loweno shifted in his seat and continued, “About the other pilots… Well, we took a hell of a beating at Hatte, and came out of it with no mobile suits. Two of your boys are vets from our former flagship that went down. I’m sure they can help you get used to things.

“And about leaving port-- Frankly I have no idea. You can thank our sponsors for our current inertia. They’re busy making themselves feel important. While they’re having meetings in smoke-filled rooms we get to sit here. Until they’re done shuffling papers and posturing, we get to ‘rest’, so make the best of it,”.

"Not really, Eckardy. Guess I gotta do some hiking now-"

“I seem to recall you were quite useful to us, Lt. Barrique. Quite useful,”

Richard visibly tensed up, his jaw setting as he looked to his side to get the Doctor into his peripheral vision.

“Richard was one of my team’s test pilots. We did good work for the Duchy,”.

In the midst of the Doctor's pause Richard's hands clenched, and he then looked back to the Doctor with a glare. The Doctor KNEW that this was one of the many things that Richard would fight about with him.

The Duchy was dead..no matter how many times Richard had to pound it into the man's head. Richard was done with Zeon, and M was one of the reasons why Rich jumped at the chance to join the AEUG. The further he got away from them, he felt the further he could escape his past.

“Er, company. Good work for the company, of course,”

"Yes, the COMPANY Doctor."

Richard then muttered something under his breath about not having to say that enough times to the man. It was then that Clute spoke up.

“If you’re looking for a guinea pig, I can help you out. Don’t know about anybody else from Team 3 but I could use a break from… this.”

Richard visibly relaxed as Clute put out his proposition and the glare then turned into a mute smile as he responded.

"Good, I appreciate your help Clute. I'll see about getting M to put together a bonus package for you. Isn't that right, M?"

Randy waited for a reply, his hand still rubbing a part of his face, just above the glasses rim. So much for the caffeine he thought, as he was thinking about blaming the coffee, Loweno started to reply. “Well… In our current lineup, after the Chuikov this ship has been with the 4th the longest. As far as a role goes, we don’t really have an official one, but I consider us the fleet’s bludgeon. To be honest most people will tell you I like combat a little too much… and they’re probably right.” His hand stopped rubbing at the sound of 'bludgeon' and 'I like combat... they’re probably right', Randy even smiled, a genuine smile. He didn’t know why but he began to felt relaxed as if most of his problems had been solved.

Loweno, the man he knows only by the name and rank continued, “About the other pilots… Well, we took a hell of a beating at Hatte, and came out of it with no mobile suits. Two of your boys are vets from our former flagship that went down. I’m sure they can help you get used to things… And about leaving port-- Frankly I have no idea. You can thank our sponsors for our current inertia. They’re busy making themselves feel important. While they’re having meetings in smoke-filled rooms we get to sit here. Until they’re done shuffling papers and posturing, we get to ‘rest’, so make the best of it,”.

Randy with his simple smile still hanging on his lip, thought for a moment and replied, “I’m thinking the same especially for the pilots”. True, he said to himself; let them live their life some more, once we get into space maybe there’s no coming back. “Let the boys take their day off. I don’t want to bother them with simulation exercise or whatever until we’re getting out of the port. About the fleet, the bludgeon, and the Hamburg…” He paused for a moment searching for the right word. “Well I personally will deliver your ‘message’ to the pilots. In turn they would deliver your message to the Titans, the hard way - mind you.”

“On the other hand, since I’m responsible to give you some estimation of your plan Capt. I should inform you that judging from our own composition of a new flight leader, 2 vets, and one rookie, the mortality rate would be high. But in end it’s all the same…” Randy couldn’t help himself but to grin as he – still in formal tone- said, “We’ll hit them as hard as we could, in doing so we’ll try not to lose ourselves in the process.” He searched for any other thing or related matter, but found none. “I think that would be all from me sir. Is there anything else Captain?”

Randy would like to get into his quarter, finish his late lunch and maybe get some chocolate bar, soft drink, or even AEUG shirt or uniform from the crew supply shop. After that he could use a little nap before dig-in into the pilots’ record and stuffs. He thought that his own personal MS could wait until tomorrow or so.

"Me? Peachy and conciseness, which is more than can be said for someone I hurt..."

Celeine's sniffles started to come back.

Damnit! Damn that Fritz-bastard for making me look-like this in front of someone!

"H-how's Celeste?" Celeine managed to croak out.

Dock containing Hamburg

Adam Trask stood in the low gravity of the dock looking uo at the massive bulk of the Salamis Kai-class ship, the Hamburg, his new home for probably a good while.
As he walked up the gangway to the entrance, he thought back to Von Braun. It had been rather hairy as the Titans had bombarded the city, the staff at Anaheim had rather quickly escorted him and the liaison team out of their facility.
Probably to protect their profit thought Adam.
He'd linked up with the AEUG and they had reassigned him to the 4th Advance Squadron, his first combat assignment since the disaster at Jaburo. As a reserve pilot, but still, it felt good to be in the action again. Making a difference, even.
Coming aboard, he decided to make for the MS deck, deciding thats where most pilots and crew tended to congregate.

Heyden's anger had subsided. He calmly left the bridge as he quietly entered. He rubbed his chin as he made his way to the washroom. Spotting a familiar face on the way he nodded a slight greeting.

It was Jim Slim Jim Zeke Macalpin the man of many nicknames. He had a grin of self satisfaction, which spoke volumes of what he had just done moments prior.

"Hey! You're Pan Heyden right?" Jim said just before Pan zipped around a corner.

"Yeah what about it?" Pan said stopping yet not turning around.

Jim narrowed his eyes at Pan's back displeased before continuing. "I was just saying hi!!" He said kicking over. "We're both on team 1. I figured we'd be on a first name basis."

Heyden turned around. "You got it." Heyden said continuing towards the restroom, with Jim in tow.

"I've been cruising in team one all the way back in the beginning. We haven't changed our line up since our first run. So i was a little surprised to see that they had kicked out Wes and replaced him"

"Whats his story? Couldn't cut it?"

Jim laughed slightly. "Yeah! thats about it!" He said avoiding the true reasoning.

Pan stopped and said "Look kid. You follow me in here. I'll break your face." before entering the washroom.

Only to come out a few moments later wringing his hands finding Jim waiting outside. Pan sighed quietly. Didn't he have something better to do? Washing off that makeup would be a good start.

Before Pan could open his mouth Jim started again.

"You're lucky to be in team 1 tho. Fritz, Michiko and I are probably the top pilots in the whole fleet."

Pan stopped in his tracks, taken back by the pilot's almost naive arrogance.
"Really..." He said slowly. "Well with you three super Aces at my back I shouldn't be worried about nothing." Pan said slapping the young pilot in the back and giving a hearty uproar of laughter.

"Good, I appreciate your help Clute. I'll see about getting M to put together a bonus package for you. Isn't that right, M?" Barrique had tossed at the Dr.

Rem spoke up. "I'm sure we will work out something to everyone's satisfaction. We appreciate your volunteering greatly. How soon can you be ready to fly? We'll need about 30 minutes to install the software and tweak the settings. Since the Suits are kept fueled, we'll be ready to roll whenever you are."

Rem hoped that the obvious friction between Barrique and Dr. M wouldn't affect the pilots much. They were, in general, antagonistic enough already.

"Yes, the COMPANY Doctor,” Barrique corrected Merkwürdigliebe. The doctor nodded as Richard said to Clute, "Good, I appreciate your help Clute. I'll see about getting M to put together a bonus package for you. Isn't that right, M?". Rem responded before the doctor, "I'm sure we will work out something to everyone's satisfaction. We appreciate your volunteering greatly. How soon can you be ready to fly? We'll need about 30 minutes to install the software and tweak the settings. Since the Suits are kept fueled, we'll be ready to roll whenever you are,”.

Dr. M adjusted his glasses and nodded again, this time at Clute. “Thank you for your time, lieutenant,” he said after checking Tideland’s rank tabs, “I’m sure our employers will take good care of you,”. The way he said ‘our employers’ didn’t make it clear if he was referring to Rem and himself, or everyone present including AEUG personnel. Clute smoothed his hair down and responded with a shrug, “I guess I’m good to go now if you can set things up. I’ll follow you guys around until you’re ready. Maybe I can help convince somebody else to join the pahty,”.

- Celeine’s Quarters -

Michiko wasn’t sure her presence was helping at all. "Me? Peachy and conscious, which is more than can be said for someone I hurt…,” Celeine managed to sniff. “H-how’s Celeste?” she asked. She sounded awful. Michiko brightened up a bit and answered, “I heard Dr. Lekarz said she’s improved a lot in the last few days,”. She added quietly a moment later, “Fritz said the doctor told him she might wake up any day now…”. As soon as she said that last part she almost regretted it. She wasn’t sure what mentioning Fritz would elicit from Celeine, and highlighting Celeste’s injury was probably foolish.

“I’m thinking the same especially for the pilots,” Emington responded, “Let the boys take their day off. I don’t want to bother them with simulation exercise or whatever until we’re getting out of the port. André Loweno liked his new MS CO already. He appreciated his tone and honesty, and it reminded him a little of the frank way Clute Tideland had always spoken to him. “No, that’s all I have for you at the moment, Emington,” the captain said.

- The Dervish -

Wong Lee’s raspy voice filled the ship’s bridge and his purple suit assaulted the eyes of everyone watching as he filled the main view screen above Capt. Abbey. Wong was finally getting to the point of his call after going over some petty details of the fleet‘s review period. “The 4th Advance Squadron should prepare to mobilize and leave Luna within 15 hours, captain. Someone will give you more specific orders before then,” Wong informed Abbey in his usual clipped manner. He didn’t look happy. He never did. “What sort of operation, if I might ask? And where is Sir Gates?” Abbey asked calmly, steepling his fingers in his lap. He didn’t expect to get much out of Wong, but the fact that he had personally contacted them meant it was something important. He wasn't sure if he should be worried or not.

Wong frowned deeper and answered tersely, “Maximilian is on holiday,”. The AEUG bigwig cleared his throat quietly as he decided how to answer Abbey’s other question. He leaned towards the camera a bit and disclosed in a serious tone, “Zeon forces from the asteroid Axis have returned to the earth sphere, Capt. Abbey. The Argama has been dispatched from her current operation to contact them. You’re going to rendezvous with the Argama and escort them to the meeting,”.

Pan and Jim continued conversing as they walked down the ship's corridors towards nowhere in particular.

"Where the hell is the rest of our team?" Heyden asked as he slowly began to get bored with Jim.

"I dunno Fritz is usually being a big man. Doing team leader kinda stuff. And Michiko is probably somewhere nearby giving him a hand."

Heyden scoffed.

"you blame em? Half the broads on this ship are either fat or just outright ugly."

Jim rubbed his head grinning. "Amen to that"

Heyden cracked his knuckles. "some of the nurses are pretty half decent. I'm gonna head that way. You're not coming with me. Not with all that crap on your face."

Clute nods as the two mobile suit geeks, as he thinks of them, discuss the setup... and then cautiously broaches a very important question: "So, what am I volunteering for?"

Rem stops abruptly. He clears his throat, and replies, "Oh, right, sorry. We've made a few adjustments to the response time and thruster output of the Nemo. Mostly software changes, a few hardware tweaks. It should increase response time by about 4-5% and increase manueverability a similar amount. We've run the computer simulations for about 150 hours now, and we're fairly certain we've worked out all of the bugs. However, we still need actual pilot data, just to make sure there isn't a system interaction that the simulation didn't account for." He looks back at Clute. "Sound reasonable? If this test run works out, it's a fix we can apply across the board fairly quickly."

Eckardy listened to everything with half an ear, focusing his eyes on his book. Clute asked, and got, an explination of the test stuff from Rem The AE Guy, as Eddie was already thinking of him, when something about what the man said caught Eddie's attention. He set his book back down and turned back to them.

"Um, I hate to totally screw your attempts for testing, but, uh..." He grinned sheepishly, "You do know that we only have Rick Dias on this ship right? No Nemos. If you want to get one of those for testing, you'll have to go deal with the guys on the other ships." Eddie said, ending with his trademark goofy grin.

"Is this the same Fritz who told me my dead-sister's fiance would be brought back? The same Fritz who decided to probe into my past when I made it clear that the intrusion was not welcome? The same Fritz who placed an ENTIRE company of men into danger and got many of them KILLED to pursue a pilot over a personal grudge with that pilot's father? The same Fritz who is every bit as responsible as I am for the condition Celeste came out of that...that...big...black...hell-hole that you, the AEUG, the colonists, the Earth and the Titans all think is worth the spit in your mouth, let alone fighting for?!"

Some of that was unfair, but Celeine was NOT in a fair mood.

“No, that’s all I have for you at the moment, Emington,” the captain voice sounded through the ship intercom. Randy turned off the intercom and walked backward reaching the wall opposite the intercom. There he relaxed his back while his feet maintaining his position. Nothing else to do, he thought. He stop there for a moment, eating his rather cold sandwiches. Finished his meal he headed through the ship corridor, trying to locate his cabin. It proved much easier than he thought, it's not difference much compared to his old Sally.

Unlike any other pilot of his era, Randy never been commissioned in a Salamis Kai. After passing through OYW in rigged for MS Sally, he was commissioned in base defense for several years before quitting the service.

He reached the cabin for pilots. It's difference from his old Sally, now they have specially placed cabin, slightly closer to the main corridor, probably to speed things up in emergency. Or maybe it's because pilot tend to have higher rank than the usual crew member. Randy reached on of them and checked the electronic panel, it's written Ensign Kai, Jeriden. Obviously not his room, he checked the next one, much further but the panel indicated the room is unoccupied. He pushed the button and open the door. It's quite spacious, a single bed and a table. A cabin fit for a flight leader, he thought. He located the on-board computer and registering what need to be registered.

Suddenly realization come to his self. He clasped his hand like a Buddhist monk, bow slightly, and provide a moment of silence to the room. He don't know the person who lived before in this very room, the person could be still alive, either transferred, in treatment or maybe in captivity. He don't bother about all the possibility, it's just a token of appreciation from a man now using the room after the previous person. A mental "excuse me" as his friend like to comment about Randy's behavior.

With that done, he jumped into the bed. Those walking from the station to the port, although cleared up his mind and harden his decision, proved to be quite a challenge. Maybe I'm getting so much soft after all this year living a civilian life, he thought about that for a moment before gradually fall asleep.

Adam reached the MS and floated toward the two pairs of Nemos along each wall. Marveling at the design of the simple machine, he knew that they were so much more at the hands of a competent pilot.
Noticing a pair of pilots conversing near one of the Nemos, he decided to introduce himself.
"Excuse me, um, I'm Adam Trask, I've been assigned as a back-up pilot on this ship, and guessing from your normal suits, your pilots. So, hi, I guess we'll be working together from now on."

((OOC: I'm guessing Jeriden and Bernard are still on deck, ill edit if not))

“Did you hear? Supposedly, our new commander is some hotshot babe who downed 3 Zakus single handedly her first time out in a suit she had no training in.”

“I don’t know… If you keep on believing all the hype, you might just be disappointed in the end.”

“Ya, your right, what are the chances that there is actually a hot chick whose a pilot, anyway? She’s probably some old, over muscled butch, anyway.”

Celeste, who had been listening in on her new subordinates from just around the corner, decides that now is the time to make her entrance.

“I don’t think anyone has ever referred to me as a ‘hotshot babe’, and the last person who called me an ‘over muscled butch’ wound of in intensive care, but I’ll let it slide, just this once.”

The two men where shocked to learn that the very woman they were talking about had just been eavesdropping on their conversation. Both are, however quick to recover and snap to attention.

“Ensign Gus Rivers, reporting to duty!”

The first one to report seems to be the most level headed out of the two. He also seems a bit overweight, though his dirty blonde hair in cut within regs and is combed neatly into place.

“Ensign Vincent Hunt, reporting, ma`am, but most people call me ‘Vox.’”

“I wonder why…”

Vox, which so far has been a fitting nick name for the man (‘Vox’ meaning ‘Voice’ in Latin), is, unlike his wingman, on the rather thin side. And as if to set him further apart from his friend, his dark brown hair is on the rather shaggy and unkempt side. But by far one of his most distinct features are his eyes. While his eyes are listed as ‘Amber’, their golden-yellow color remind her of wolf eyes.

“Is it true, ma`am?”

Vox’s question snaps her out of her evaluation of her new subordinates?

“Is what true?”

“That you single-handedly took out 3 Zakus on your first mission without any training what-so-ever?”

“Only have true. I’d… commandeered a manual early on in the mission and spent a few days reading it before we were jumped, so I was familiar with the controls when I got into the machine. By the time I launched, both the Zaku II’s, which were the early models that they used at the beginning of the war, were already damaged, one of them severely. I merely finished them off. The Zaku I was a bit of a handful, but that suit was even more obsolete than the Zaku IIs, so its not like it is a big deal. Nothing compared to that kid on that new warship.”

If Love is the answer, could you please rephrase the question?
