Vantz thanked Lt. Anderson and went to put his stuff away. He set his guitar down on his bed and tossed his duffel bag, which contained all of his other earthly possesions, in the corner. He then decided to try and figure out the lay out of the ship, starting by finding a place to eat.

"Very good, sir."

With that, and seeing the remainder of the pilots likewise dispersing, Julian turned around and floated down the hallway without another word, looking around for the Deck Officer to assign him to his quarters.

After going over his Rick Dias again, still a bit shocked that he had been assigned to one, Jacob wandered out of the hangar and into a nearby ready room.

He found it already full of pilots, but not ones he recognized. Unsurprising, since he really only knew the other members of his team. He hadn't seen any of these at any previous briefing, either, though so they must either be new assignments or the men who were assigned to this ship originally.

They were clearly enjoying their conversation and classic music so he simply slunk to the vending machines and procured a cup of soda for himself.

Jonas picked up some files on his desk. They were the pilot files for his squad.

"Okay, now on to the hangar."

He headed out of his room and went down towards the mobile suit hangar.

The activity had all but died down as repairs were being finished and a faint trace of paint fumes still lingered temporarily masking previous odors of unexplained origin. As Bernard steps back, a blow torch floats away from his gloved hand when he uses his forearm to wipe the sweat from his face.

Mechanics were gathered around swapping stories of the War and comparing them with the past few days events. Bernard listened attentively to the tales of the heroes on the other side -heroes to whose ranks he would never be admitted.
A growl from his stomach reminds him that he is human. Bernard waves over a maintenance worker.

"Hey, all fixed. I'm done here." Bernard shouts.

The thumbs up from the worker is all Bernard needs to exit the mobile suit bay to search for a meal.

Jonas looked around and waited by his Nemo. His squadron was nowhere to be seen.

"Where the hell are they?? I did say to be here later today....." he mumbled to himself.

He grabbed a maintenance worker and asked him to find the rest of his squad. The worker went on to the pilots' quarters.

Vantz was lounging around his quarters strumming his guitar when he remembered that he was supposed to be in the hangar. He hastily put away his guitar and hurried out of his room. "Okay, which way tothe hangar again?" he asked himself nervously. Fortunatley, he found a helpful crewman and made his way to the hangar.

Hoping that he wouldn't get in trouble, Vantz leaned against the wall and tried to look like he'd been there for awhile.

There was no need on Julian's account; Only about ten to fifteen seconds after Jonas gave the order, Julian Meighan reappeared, floating towards the Skipper and the milling mechanics around him. He seemed acquainted with the ship quickly enough for a person who has, by no fault of Julian's own, never been on a Salamis Kai even during the One Year War. But Julian, being the reconnaissance-experienced pilot that he was, was used to pathfinding.

He stopped in front of Jonas and saluted professionally, making no other unnecessary actions. "Lieutenant Junior Grade Julian Meighan reporting as ordered, sir."

Celeste is currently on her bed in her quarters, looking at a bunch of photos. In each of the pictures, there is a group of people, ranging in size from 4 to 24 people. The only thing that ties these together is a single person. A young woman in her early twenties with long, white hair. These are the pictures of Celeste with her previous teams, from the War not even a decade past which very nearly wiped out the Human race.

The first picture had for people standing in a row with an Ensign Angelina at the end of the line and a Saberfish in the background. All the pilots wore the same Pilot Suits: dark grey, instead of the normal white or yellow and a dark blue instead of red. The Saberfish had an Eagle painted on the nose which came back all the way to the cockpit. It had black feathers with white dots, which made it look like Space had been printed on the raptor. It was cool and all, but a bit showy for Celeste’s taste. The only reason Lt. Grunder got away with it was because his family had connections. He was a nice guy and all, but he could be a bit snobbish and he was a true Earth ‘Elitist,’ growing up on Earth and coming from a family of wealth. Luckily, he wasn’t the kind who thought that Spacenoids were inferior sub-humans, even if he had a subtly tendency to believe he was superior. That was mainly a product of his birth.

The next picture also has only 4 members. Celeste, still an Ensign at the time was still on the very end, but she wore a standard white Pilot Suit. The Saberfish she, along with the rest of her team, the Shoal Sharks, were posed in front of had a simple open shark’s mouth. The lieutenant she served under at the time was another Earthnoid, though from a less prestigious background and with a lot more common sense. At the time, they were stationed in the Side 2 Shoal zone, conducting hit-and-runs and ambushes against Zeke forces. Later, they were shifted to the Side 5 area for recon and minor interdiction missions. Generally just to harass the Zekes in the area.

The third picture contained a bit more people in it. Two dozen to be exact. This time, 2 Saberfish, in standard red, white, blue, and gold color scheme are pointing towards the center at 45 degree angles. The people are crowded together in a bunch for this picture, with a plaque in front of them with a large emblem. The words around the boarder say “Side Six Sabers” and the emblem itself has an open-type colony in the center with a curved saber beneath it and the number six in red in the background. Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Celeste Angelina is near the center, kneeling just behind the plaque, again in the stand white Pilot Suit.

The fourth picture shows her and 4 others in front of a bright orange Ball. There is no plaque here. No identifiers, either. The people are all smiling, too, in a relaxed stance. The 5th Evaluation Team, with Lt. Angelina as the CO. It was a short lived team, yes, and mostly non-combat, except near the end of its life to put the Ball through a few combat situations. Of course, being raised in the SP-W03, she was a natural at the Ball.

The next picture showed her with 3 other people, posing in front of a white Ball, with 3 more in the distant background, 2 blue, and an orange. This was the team with which the earned her first moniker, ‘Pearl of the Shoal.’ The white Ball behind them was hers, painted white so the Fleet could easily keep track of her as she led the way through the ever changing, ever shifting debris of broken colonies and shattered asteroids.

The last picture was her with only 2 others, at the feet of a RGM-79GS. Though only the foot and part of the thigh is visible, anyone who know her would know it was her suit, painted white from tip-to-toe. She was in her own pilot suit now. White, with dark grey shoulders and a lighter grey zipper line. She was perched up on the foot of the GM, right knee up, which her right arm rested on. The left leg was extended out and her left arm was lazily propping her up. The man to her left, Lt. JG Vox Hunt, was in a standard blue Federal Pilot Suit. He was a slender man, with an athletic build. He was leaning against the foot, with his right leg flat against the side, elbows over the edge, helping to prop him up.. He was the unit’s sniper and was fortunate enough to get the newer RGM-79SP. The man to her right, a bit heavier man by the name of Gustav Higgins, or simply ‘Gus’ for short, was also a Lt Jay-Gee, and was the teams heavy weapon’s specialist. He was also in a Space Command, like Celeste, but he used the 380 Hyper Bazooka. He had a yellow pilot suit and leaning onto the other side of the foot, left foot crossed behind the right. Celeste had already earned the title of ‘White Angel’ by this point. What made this such a moment worth commemorating was that she’d just been informed that she’d be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and be assigned 3 more team for a full squadron.

There are a set of pictures still in the both that she got the ½ dozen she is holding now, but she won’t pick them up. They are from a camera from in the inside a Columbus-Class Transport, converted to launch GMs. The first one shows a Space Command, painted pure white, with the end of a Bigro’s claw grasping the torso. The armor of the torso is twisted and distorted. The end of the arm, where it was sheered off is melted, the product of a mega particle bolt which scored its mark through the combination of both skill and luck. The pictures get worse from there, as personnel swarm over the suit and cut their way through the arm and suit in order to reach the pilot inside and finally end in her on a stretcher, disappearing through a hatchway. Gruesome souvenirs from the last time she fought for the Earth Federal Forces. Her suit is on the floor, the Sniper II is in its rack, even if it is beat up a bit, but the other Command is missing…

If Love is the answer, could you please rephrase the question?

Sumitani seemed to be off in his own world as Pan sidestepped him and approached Lt. Mello and the youngest pilot in the team. "You haven't been to the lounge?? You're missing out Kiddo! You should definitely check it out!" Pan exclaimed with mock enthusiasm,"Hell!! Go right now! and tidy up a bit!”. Heyden’s push send the teenager drifting towards the hall that went by the ready room. The kid twisted in zero-g until he was facing back in the group’s direction and said, “I, uh, I’m Ens. Thibaut Chareux, by the way, sir. Nice to meet you,” as he disappeared into the corridor.

Pan tapped his forehead in a quick salute to his CO before asking, "Whatchyou boys discuss while I was out on break? I didn't miss anything did I?". Mello crossed his arms and shook his head, “Not really. I was just telling them that this ship was pretty much an afterthought for the fleet. That Gates guy got most of the crew pulled from other assignments and tossed us all in the first Salamis he could ‘procure’. Ramon and I were actually stationed together before, but it seems like everyone else is from all over,”.

Lt. Barrique responded, "As am I eager to get into that action. Being stuck on the sidelines with a broken Nemo has allowed me to languish, and that isn't a good thing for a pilot if he's chomping at the bit to take down some of those blue-skinned boobs out there,”. With a chuckle, he continued once more, his face turning to one of confusion and slight worry. "Speaking of pilots, you wouldn't happen to know where the files on my team have ended up, sir? They were absent from my cabin when I dropped off my effects.”

Jackson grunted in irritation and stepped forward into the conversation. “I told one of my men to have them ready for you. I’ll take care of it, lieutenant, and I apologize,”. Von Gyuden nodded and added, “I’m sure you can find them around here somewhere. I was told Ens. Izuruha is the only holdover from the last operation, if you’d like to get to know the ship better,”.

On his way to the most heavily frequented ready room, Fritz passed Wes Curren in a hallway. He gave him a friendly waving salute as he passed. When he got to the ready room, he could hear Eckardy’s music playing from the hallway even before the door opened. He keyed the door open and leaned his head into the room, resting in the doorframe with his forearms. “Heads-up, gentlemen. I’ve got it on good authority that we’re moving out fairly soon; looks like we may be the unit that’s investigating 27th,”.

He raised back up and walked into the room towards the wall of food and drink machines where Jacob had retreated to. Fritz took some water from a machine and nodded in Markado’s direction. “Jacob, right? Formerly of the Hamburg,” he said as he took a seat next to the young pilot.

Sir Maximillian crossed his legs as he continued a conversation on one of Abbey’s handsets. He now occupied a chair next to the captain’s, and was absentmindedly spinning one of his rings as he talked to some AEUG bigwig in Granada. “Oh, sure, Ted. And make sure you tell Warren I’m grateful,” he said, rolling his eyes at whoever it was at the other end of the line. When he hung up, he shook his head in disgust but gave Abbey a self-satisfied smile. “Captain, I just kicked my colleagues in the pants. The 4th is going out on assignment soon,”.

While Wes walked around rather aimlessly, he passed by Fritz. He saluted, and Fritz responded with a salute as well. He seemed to be in a rather good mood.

"Hopefully there is some good news..." he thought, and Fritz then went into the ready room that had music blasting through the door.

Curious, Wes turned back and decided to visit the ready room as well, mostly because he had nothing better to do anyways. He entered and saw several pilots lounging around, just doing their thing and engaging in conversations.

Pan folded his arms as he listened to the response to his question. He answered back quite quickly.

"Well we're gonna have to prove that we where a good afterthought."

He glanced back at Sumitani for a moment to see if the guy was even listening or just doing his own thing.

"Considering they tossed us together so quickly I would assume they plan on sending us into battle quickly..."

He unfolded his arms resting them at his sides. Cracking a cheap smile.

"I guess we should spend less time in the lounge and more time working.."

No one really paid attention when a pilot none of the 2nd Team Members knew came in to get a drink. The two Zeonic replacements were discussing things with Marvin while Eckardy continued to lie on a couch, air guitaring and singing along at seemingly random points.

Fritz Ashlyn, the new MS unit commander for all of them, poked his head in. “Heads-up, gentlemen. I’ve got it on good authority that we’re moving out fairly soon; looks like we may be the unit that’s investigating 27th.".

Greydon and Grunwald didn't have any visual reaction to the news, while Hamilton frowned and let out a sigh that was lost under Eckardy's music. Eddie, who had been up on his knees in middle of a solo, froze and fell foward. "Aw crap." He continued to mutter something that no one else made out.

The three men at the table exchanged glances. Marvin sighed his defeat. "You don't want to go out Ed?"

Eckardy sat back up and grabbed a remote that was sitting next to him. He glanced at it for a moment before pressing a button that switched the music to a different song. "Nah, it's just I'd rather sit around here for a few more days. I like being lazy." He said as he turned to face the men, grinning as always.

Greydon grinned. "And let me guess, you love knowing we may go out soon, but not when." This drew smiles from the other two men at the table and a laugh from Eckardy.

"Oh yeah. Hurry up and wait, the story of a soldier!" Eckardy waved his hand dramatically towards the men in the room. "Oh what fun it is etcetera etcetera etcetera etcetera." He shrugged and fell back onto his spot on the couch.

Vantz saw Lt. Anderson enter the hangar and made his way over. He stopped in front of his commander and saluted. He hoped that was the right thing to do. "Sir, reporting for duty." God, I hope I don't look like an idiot in front of everyone by doing this.

Jonas noted his subordinate's behavior. It reminded of how he was only a few years ago.

"At ease. Don't worry about any 'God, I hope don't look like an idiot in front of everyone' thoughts you have. I've been there myself; it's normal to be completely nervous in situations like this."

Jonas looked around and noticed his fourth member was nowhere to be seen. He turned to Julian and Vantz.

"Ummm......either of you two know who our fourth member is? I never got any info or files on him....or her, for that matter."

"Sir, I didn't even know we had a fourth member. And I haven't seen anyone who looked like a pilot." Not that I would know what a pilot looks like, but whatever.

Vantz glanced around the hangar, trying to see if he might be able to spot the missing fourth pilot. He figured it would be best to distinguish himself in front of the others if he was going to make his stay in the AEUG as easy as possible.

((OOC: Well, since the fourth pilot is an NPC on my ship, I suppose I'll handle the situation...))

-Chuikov, Hangar

A very young and very short woman suddenly rushed into the room. Her foot caught on the door frame, sending her spinning madly through the air. A mechanic caught her and gave her a gentle push towards the three other pilots... though not without an unchivalrous snicker which spread until all of the on-duty mechanics were rolling with laughter.

The girl turned bright red.

"I-I'm sorry I'm l-late," she stammered from behind a fringe of overlong brown hair knocked loose from her headband during the event.

"I-I'm afraid I'm a bit too used to gravity... and I've never been on a Salamis before..."

"Well, looks like we have our fourth pilot," Vantz said, "And she apparently knows how to make an entrance." Vantz threw an apprasing eye over her and offered her his hand. "Vantz Howard, fellow pilot and first timer on a Salamis."

Jonas walked over to the young woman and placed his hand on her shoulder.

"I understand completely, both not being used to zero gravity and being on a military vessel. Welcome to our squad. I'm the squadron leader, Lt. Jonas Anderson.......and your name is?"
