The History of the Orbital Century

By the end of the 22nd century, the world was tired of war, and a new order called the Azure Earth Organization was established. In order to "heal" the planet from the scars of previous wars, the AEO began the construction of gigantic space colonies. These colossal structures became home to billions who chose to seek a new life in space. This marked the beginning of a new calendar, the Orbital Century. For two centuries, Earth and the colonies existed harmoniously

Many years later, the AEO began to use the colonies for profit. Millions of people in space were forced to work without pay as miners on asteroids near Mars. Because if this, the AEO became tremendously prosperous, while most people in the colonies began to sink into poverty.

The Sparks of War
The colonies responded by keeping the asteroid mines for themselves. When the AEO enforced harsher rules and military force, the colonists fought back by bombing several AEO installations in space. This act of defiance spawned many colony leaders, and eventually, the Chrome Government. In retaliation, AEO forces hi-jacked a colony in Langrange point L-02 and rammed it into another, resulting in a massive explosion that caused several colonies nearby to lose their orbit and drift to space. It was estimated that 200 million colonists were killed in this incident, which was later known as the L-02 Tragedy. This cluster of colonies were declared uninhabitable in OC 275, and became a massive space graveyard instead.

The 1st Chrome Movement (276-286)
Angered by this act of genocide the Chrome Supreme Chancellor, Efren Gravebrood, ordered his military to drop an asteroid 1 km in size to Earth, hitting Greece and destroying several countries in the Mediterranean area. On March 24th, year 276, the AEO officially declared a full scale war against Chrome and the colonies. The very next day, Chrome declared the same against AEO and Earth. The war raged on for 10 years, culminating in a major battle in the European front. By the time the conflict ended in OC 286, the first Mobile Suits have already been created. These machines proved to be very essential in the AEO's victory.

And now...

The year is Orbital Century 299... Tensions are building up between the Azure Earth Organization and the newly resurrected Chrome Government. With the Chrome now possessing mobile suits of their own, war is once again just on the horizon.
