I asked Chris about this and he said it was cool as long as we were specific about the fics we read not just "this is cool, read it." So here goes...
I recommend fics by the author Shadow Chaser. This guy has a great, professional writing style, he spells everything right, he doesn't just write MS battles and he tries to develop his characters.
He has five most excellent GWing fics and 2 completed SEED fics and a third underway all of them are between 15,000 and 100,000 words long. Check these stories out definitely, if you want to read fanfics that aren't Saved by the Bell in Space with Gundams.

Seraphim of the Scrapyard is a great fanfiction site featuring stories centered around the Battle Angel Alita series, my personal favorite is Chessmen by Geoff Depew. It's an epic Space Opera featuring characters from multiple anime and video game series you would never imagine could co-exist in the same story, but this one pulls it off expertly. For example Largo, of Bubblegum Crisis fame is the leading man, or that Char Aznable and Kagato would be joining forces not to mention all the cameos and references peppered throughout. All in all, it's a great read.

Please keep comments like this to a minimum as this thread is mainly for recommendations only, and not full on discussion of the fics linked to.MBF-06/ZGMF-X12A Arbiter wrote:You know, I bet if they took a poll, they'd find out that even people who've never seen a single Gundam series know who Char is.
If you really want to discuss one of the fics linked to in greater detail than that, please make a separate thread for it.

I like my fics, myself. I'm kishiria on fanfiction.net. Some of my stories are quite short.
I have a moral obligation to mention "In Vain Doth Valour Bleed" by my counterpart, His Divine Shadow.
If you go to my ff.net profile, there's my "favorites" list to raid as well.

Techno-Viking does not dance to the music; the music dances to Techno-Viking.
Self-promotion, kishiria? You know you shouldn't do that. You don't have to.
Everyone knows you're an awesome author who takes a magnificent look into the lives of characters so often overlooked in favor of machines and mayhem--characters as fully realized as any real person. You paint wonderful tapestries of the human condition in the space age, a world so alien yet familiar. You've captured the essence of Gundam, which is a human story.
And if they don't know that, then they should.
All that aside, anything by His Divine Shadow and Black Knight is golden.
Not to insult anyone else, but the place for best Gundam author in my mind would have to go to Newtype Alpha for his tour-de-force, Project N. Unfortunately, he hasn't updated anything in years, leading me to believe he's abandoned the pursuit of fanfiction altogether or shuffled off the mortal coil. There will likely never be any resolution for Project N, but it's still a fascinating read.

I'll vouch for that, although at this point Project N is way, way off from official Gundam thanks to things like Advance of Zeta, etc.Imperial wrote:Not to insult anyone else, but the place for best Gundam author in my mind would have to go to Newtype Alpha for his tour-de-force, Project N. One of my favorite Evangelion fanfics is I Was A Teenage Dummy Plug by Logan J. Goodhue. As a rule Self Insertion stories are bad, but this one is the exception that proves the rule. It works on the premise of what would happen if a male fan of Evangelion woke up in that world, as one of Rei's clones! The only thing that's bad about is that it's unfinished but it's still a fun read right up to the end.
