The 02nd MS Team

Hey everyone! I'm briansiu94, and I'm new to this forum. I have been working on a Gundam fanfic, based on the awesome 08th MS Team OVA. I haven't written much of it, but here's chapter 1 anyway. The following chapters will be posted a while later, since I'm still working on them.

Now enjoy chapter 1 of The 02nd MS Team.

Chapter 1
A Zaku fell as a Ground Type Gundam emptied a whole clip into it.
“Take that, you Zeek!” Collin shouted from in his Gundam reloaded its machine gun.
“Save up your ammo,” Commander Harris instructed to Collin, “we still got more to face.” His Gundam advanced forward into the dense jungle. “Alistair, Kyoshi, move it up!” Commander Harris ordered.
“Yes sir,” both of them answered as they piloted their Gundams into the jungle.
“Collin, you advance along with Ulrich. Don’t move too fast though, or you leave Ulrich behind.”
“Why do I always have to escort him?” Collin whined. At the same time, Ulrich whined from inside his hover tank. Not Collin again, he thought, he always wanders to somewhere else.
“No complaining! Just go!” Commander Harris commanded as his Gundam walked deeper into the forest. “Sir, the area doesn’t seem to have any enemies,” Alistair reported through the intercom.
“Keep looking, there could be ambushes.”
“Yes sir,” Alistair answered as the he killed the line.
“We got to keep looking around for ambushes,” Alistair told Kyoshi. Kyoshi simply nodded. Alistair just noticed it through the open cockpit hatch of Kyoshi’s Gundam. Alistair smiled. Always the quiet one, Alistair thought. He then caught something in the corner of his eye. One of the trees seemed to have moved. ‘Kyoshi, 8 o’clock,” Alistair said as Kyoshi turned to watch the tree. As the tension grew, the area seemed to be smaller than before. Alistair almost felt claustrophobic. A dark mass unexpectedly jumped up. It was a Zaku. “Watch out!” Alistair yelled as Kyoshi’s Gundam took a step back. The two found a Zaku standing between them. The Zaku took out its tomahawk and tried to slash Alistair, but he swiftly moved his Gundam back and started to shoot at the mono-eyed giant. The Zaku took a few steps back and turned around, but found itself staring into the eyes of Kyoshi’s Gundam. Kyoshi took out a beam saber and cut off the Zaku’s arm. It moved in for a counter-attack but was too late. Alistair fired the Gundam’s remaining bullets into the Zaku’s back. As Alistair reloaded the Gundam’s machine gun, he reported to Commander Harris.
“We have destroyed a Zaku, sir,” Alistair said, taking short breaths.
“I heard the noise,” Harris said, “good job.”
The whole team then moved through the jungle, and came into a clearing, where two Magella attack tanks were waiting for them. They immediately fired in sight of the Gundams. One of the shots hit Kyoshi’s Gundam, and it fell down. The other Gundams held up their shields. “Are you alright?” Commander Harris asked as Kyoshi’s Gundam stood back up. “I’m fine,” Kyoshi said plainly as his Gundam held up its shield. “Collin, do something helpful with that damn cannon of yours!” Commander Harris ordered.
Collin quickly put his shield upright on the ground and assembled the NFHI•GMCa-type.09/180mm cannon. He put the long barrel on the shield for support, aimed and fired. One of the tanks took a direct hit in the cockpit. The other kept firing. Commander Harris’s Gundam leaped, pulled out its beam saber and chopped the remaining tank into half. “Good chop, commander,” Collin commented.
“Thanks,” Harris said with a grin.
“Is that the whole Zeon elite squad?” Alistair asked.
“It should be,” Harris answered.
“They didn’t seem so elite to me,” Collin said.
“Oh, they are. It’s just that we’re even more elite than them.” Collin smirked when he heard it. “Ulrich, anymore enemy units around this area?”
“No, sir.”
“Good, our job is done,” Harris relaxed as he and the team headed back towards the E.F.S.F base.

The 02nd team arrived back at the base after about 20 minutes. The Gundams kneeled down and the technicians came out from the base to help with the repairs.
“Kyoshi, your MS took a pretty bad hit. Have your skills deteriorated?” One of the technicians asked. Kyoshi turned away and shrugged. “We’re going to have to replace part of the torso with GM ground type parts. Boys, move it!” The technician shouted to the rest of the crew.
Meanwhile, Alistair and Collin reloaded their Gundams chest machine guns. Commander Harris retreated back into one of the tents and relaxed. “Where’s Ulrich?” Harris asked as Alistair and Collin came in. “Don’t know. Probably still inside the HT.” Harris gave a slight nod and stared outside at the Gundams. They were battle-scarred and beaten up, and now under the dusk sunlight, they looked like giant ancient statues. Well, this is earth. What can you expect? Harris thought. A part inside of him hated earth, how its climate and weather was so unpredictable. But another part of him loved it. Alistair and Collin sat down beside him, pouring warm tea into their cups. “Have we received a new mission yet?” Collin asked. Harris broke away from his day-dreaming. “Not yet. Why are you in such a hurry?” Harris asked.
“Because I get to go back into space after five more missions, and I want to make it quick.”
“You got family there?”
“Yeah, got a beautiful wife.” Collin grinned, “What about you?”
“Got two daughters, but the younger one died a few years ago.”
“Sorry to hear it,” Collin said as his grin faded.
“What about you, youngster?” Harris asked Alistair.
“My younger sister’s in space. I have a girlfriend there, too.”
“What about your parents?” Collin asked curiously.
“They died when I was about ten. They were caught in a battle between the Feds and the Zeon. A close family friend took care of me and my sister until I was eighteen. Now my sister’s staying with my girlfriend.”
This was the first time the team actually talked to each other about themselves.
“Well, better check on Ulrich,” Harris said as he stood up from his seat and strolled over to the Hover Tank.

“…And the dark will not rise, as long as the light is not forgotten. The dark will be bound by an unbreakable chain of light, and the dark will persist to escape, but the light will prevail…”
“What are you reading?” Harris asked as he entered the tank.
“Just a poem,” Ulrich replied.
“You interested in poetry, hey?”
“I just read it when I’m bored.”
“You want to come out?”
‘Nah. I’ll stay in here for a bit.”
“Alright then. See you later.”

As Harris came out of the HT, a Gundam rose up. It was Kyoshi’s unit. It had an odd orange torso piece from a GM ground type. Kyoshi came out of the cockpit.
“Nice color,” Harris teased.
“It’ll have to do for now,” Kyoshi said as he went to his cabin.
“Commander Harris!” Collin shouted. “We got a new mission!”
Harris quickly jogged towards him and told him to elaborate.
“The mission will start tomorrow. It’s a siege on a Zeon outpost. Take no prisoners. We need to eliminate every single Zeon soldier there.”
“Alright. Understood. Get some rest then, you’ll need the energy tomorrow.”
“Okay, sir.”
The world needs to see the true power of Gundam.

Well, thanks to everyone who read or at least took a quick look at this. More replies and constructive criticisms will be welcomed. Anyhow, without further ado, here is chapter 2 of The 02nd Ms Team.

Enjoy!

Chapter 2

The night went past quicker than the team wanted. As dawn came, the cabins were filled with noise again. The 02nd MS Team readied themselves for the mission. Collin, Alistair, Kyoshi and Harris ran their final checks on the Gundams while Ulrich started up the hover tank.
“02nd MS Team, let’s move!” Commander Harris shouted. The enormous Gundams rose up while the repair crew waved the Gundams through.
“Good luck!” One of the crew yelled over the loud noise of the moving Gundams. Alistair put a thumbs-up to the crew as his Gundam walked out of the base. The hover tank followed.

After a long hour, the team arrived a kilometer outside of the Zeon outpost. Harris, with the binoculars, spotted two Zakus guarding the outpost. The outpost was made up of three buildings: one seemed to be the main complex and the other two were crew cabins. Three Magella attack tanks lined up on the side of the outpost. The team came out of their MS.
“What’s the plan?” Collin asked impatiently.
“We’ll set up a diversion,” Commander Harris explained, “Alistair and Kyoshi, you two move ahead as usual. Distract the two Zakus at the front and let them come to you. Meanwhile, Collin and I will go around attacking the outpost and the tanks. Ulrich, you stay at the back. Inform us with any enemy reinforcements or changes. Got it?”
“Yes sir!” The team said in unison as they boarded their Gundams. Ulrich entered the Hover Tank and fired up the motor. Alistair and Kyoshi’s units moved ahead of the rest of the team. Alistair and Kyoshi saw the two Zakus after a while. One of the Zeon pilots wasn’t on board his MS, which meant they still haven’t noticed the two Gundams. The manned Zaku’s cockpit hatch closed and the mono-eye glowed brightly. The pilot noticed them.
“Here we go,” Alistair whispered under his breath. He and Kyoshi fired a few short bursts of rounds at the Zaku, but didn’t hit it on purpose. The Zaku automatically followed the two white MS as they backed off and lead the Zaku away from the outpost. Seeing his comrade in a disadvantaged situation, the other Zeon pilot quickly boarded his Zaku and moved over to help the other Zeon. The plan is working just as we planned, Kyoshi thought quietly as he and Alistair led the two Zeeks further away the outpost.
Meanwhile, Collin fired at one of the Magella tanks as it exploded. Commander Harris proceeded further into the outpost. The other Magella tank opened fire at Commander Harris. Without thinking, Harris moved his Gundam’s left arm and defended himself with the shield. The third Magella tank came out of its cover and fired. Harris’ Gundam took a hit on its left shoulder as it stepped back. Dammit, Harris thought as he bit his lip. His quick trigger finger fired the machine gun. The bullets penetrated into the Magella tank’s armor and smashed the cockpit canopy. The leftover tank started to retreat. Harris stared as the tank backed away. It suddenly exploded as Collin’s Gundam walked out from the smoke.
“Good cover, Collin,” Harris complimented.
“Thank you, sir,” Collin replied. The two soldiers were about to contact Alistair and Kyoshi when they saw something flash past them.
“What was that?” Collin asked as he tried to spot the thing.
Harris didn’t respond. He calmly scanned the area for any movement. Nothing. Just when he thought his eyes were playing tricks on him, a Dom appeared from out of the forest. It was heading towards the Hover Tank.
“One of the skirted ones!” Collin exclaimed. He quickly turned on his intercom and contacted Ulrich. “Ulrich, an enemy unit is heading towards you! Mount the Vulcan gun!”

Inside the tank, Ulrich clumsily boarded the Vulcan gun and took hold of the controls.
Come on, where are you? He thought nervously as he pointed the gun to various places. A sense of frustration and nervousness took over Ulrich as he waited for the enemy to come out. His hands began to sweat, but he tightened his grip of the controls. “Calm down, Ulrich, calm down,” he told himself, but it was no use. The more he tried to calm down, the more panicked he got. Suddenly, something moved. He quickly swiveled the Vulcan gun towards the sound. Then two Gundams stepped out. It was Alistair and Kyoshi. Ulrich sighed with relief as he regained his attention back on the hidden opponent. Almost instantly a Dom sprung out of the trees and took out its heat saber. It readied to stab into the tank. Ulrich gazed at the enormous enemy in terror. He tried to move his hands and pull the trigger, but his hands wouldn’t listen to him.
“Ulrich, fire the damn gun!” Alistair shouted loudly through the headset. But all Ulrich could do was stare as the Dom landed to pierce into Ulrich. I going to die, Ulrich thought in horror. This is it; this is the end of me. Ulrich closed his eyes tightly as he prepared to be killed. He could feel the heat generated by the heat saber. The Dom pushed the saber towards Ulrich. Then everything stopped. Ulrich slowly opened his eyes and regained his vision. All he could see was the dark backpack of a Gundam in front of him. The Dom stabbed into the cockpit of the Gundam and the Gundam did the same to the foe.
“Ulrich,” A weak voice whispered through the intercom, “it’s just you and the team now.”
Just as the sentence finished, both mobile suits went down and exploded. Everybody watched in dreadfulness as Commander Harris disappeared from this world. For a moment everyone was silent.
“Commander!” Collin exclaimed in pain.
“No way,” Alistair murmured in shock, “he couldn’t have…”
Kyoshi closed his eyes and shook his head sadly. He didn’t want to look up.
Ulrich watched as the Gundam burned into ashes. He felt tears roll down his face.
“Commander…” Ulrich mourned quietly, “It’s my entire fault.”
The two mobile suits kept on burning as the sky turned grey and started to rain.
The world needs to see the true power of Gundam.

Sorry, I haven't posted for a while. I've been busy with schoolwork and also been lazy. :P This is a short chapter, becuase I've been working on something else...

Anyway, here's chapter 3. Again, comments and constructive critisisms are welcomed. Enjoy!

Chapter 3

“Damn it, Ulrich! Damn you!” Collin scolded. Alistair and Kyoshi hurried out of their mobile suits and ran over to Collin and Ulrich.
“Let go of him, Collin!” Alistair ordered, but Collin kept his grip on Ulrich. He lifted Ulrich up and Ulrich almost choked.
“Collin, you’ll kill him!”
“He deserves it! He caused the commander his life!” Just as Collin finished the sentence, he punched Ulrich in the face and Ulrich fell to the ground. Kyoshi ran over to Ulrich and helped him on his feet.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Alistair shouted.
“Ulrich caused the commander to die! It’s a life for a life!”
“You think killing Ulrich will bring back the commander?” Alistair asked as Collin stood, enraged, but had no words to respond.
“Even the commander’s body is gone, all there’s left are ashes,” Collin said quietly. Ulrich walked quietly back to the Hover Tank.
“Come on, let’s get back and give the battle report,” Alistair said as Collin and Kyoshi followed him back to their MS.

The trip back to the base seemed longer than usual. Everyone was still sad over their commander’s death. The team went to give the battle report as soon as they were back at the base. “Commander Harris died protecting one of us,” Alistair explained. Ulrich didn’t look up.

A few days later, Alistair gathered the team together. A new commander for their team had arrived. A man in his mid-thirties walked towards them. He had blonde hair and had a slim build. He grinned at the group and gave a casual salute.
“My name’s Marshall Edwards,” the man said, still grinning, “I’m your new commander.”
The world needs to see the true power of Gundam.
