History:
Originally developed for space exploration the Zakume~Diru is unique in
that it is not composed of any solid metal but rather a swarm of
intelligent self-sustaining nanomachines that have the ability to compress
themselves together to the point of achieving solid like characteristics.
The billions of sophisticated self-replicating nanomachines in which the
Zakume is comprised contain solar power cells and built in memory, each
Nanomachine capable of climbing the viscosity of the air
(navigating using the molicules present in the air) causing the
nanomachines to seemingly float on air. Commands would be
relay'd wirelessly to the nanomachines from a supercomputer located within
the sphere shaped "cockpit" in which the "pilot" can organize the form and
density of various swarms. Public demonstrations rallied much interest
and support for space program development throughout the world however
the success was short-lived. After the monumental blunder known as
"The Space Incident" the Zakume project halted and became adopted by
the OMNI S.A.S to be further developed as a top secret black project.
Almost a decade later the newly developed Zakume system "Zakume~Diru"
was launched in response to the increasing number of "Visitors" whom
at the time had been perceived as an alien threat. Though this new Zakume
system was in terms of hardware virtually identical to its previous
version it had one major difference. A complete overhaul of the
artificial intelligence within the nanomachines' memory giving the
nanomachines automatic aggressive and retaliatory reflexes as well as
simulated predatory behavior. The cockpit sphere was further reinforced and
given a higher output endurance battery allowing for limited use of the
system at night. The improved supercomputer operating system allowed
for over three thousand calculations per second aiding the pilot with
pre-programed situation responces and statistics. The pilot as well as the
cockpit itself are nearly invulnerable due to the nature of the
nanomachines' programming to mass together and compact themselves at the
calculated point of impact creating enough density to almost null any form
of incoming force. Claimed to be "The Perfect Weapon Hardware" by the
military, A weapon thats only limit is the software installed on it.
The default form of the now mass produced Zakume~Diru is a bipedal
humanoid modeled after suits of armor worn by warriors in the medieval
ages, an appropriate form for what would become the new "Sword and Sheild"
of the OMNI military.
*Notes* Don't see alot of fantasy mechs around here, This is a redesign of the Zaku II. I Just finished the book "PREY" by Michael Crichton and decided to to incorporate nanotechnology into this mech. I am currently working on a Gouf version. I have just recently started drawing and find it very relaxing.
