Here are some of my works that I've gone back and redone.

Red Shoulder ground gundam:

Bottom
Top half

As you can see, I've added mud to the legs and washed off some of the excessive black smudges from the rest of the body due to the "unrealistic/out of scale" effect it had.

Red Shoulder GM sniper custom:

Top half
Bottom half

I cleaned this one up significantly more than the ground gundam, and kept the same white/green scheme, I like this one the most actually.

Dirty Zaku

Top Half
Bottom half

I made this bad boy look like he was half burried in the jungle mud waiting for it's prey.
8)

Messed up GM (CANNON FODDER MS)

Top half
Bottom half

I melted/cut parts off of this one. The shield has a hole from a beam cannon through it, and a damaged/burnt arm, also it's shoulder is melted away, as well as part of the head, the shoulder, and it took a shot to the stomach as well. The knee and shin are also significantly messed up, this is truly a cannon fodder suit.

Hope you like the changes guys.

That's really cool. How did you do the mud splatter effect?

easy as hell:

1: black oil paint
2: water
3: put tip of brush in paint, getting very little paint
4: dabble in water

5: (very important step) allow the water and oil to make a big "bubble" on the brush, and let it splash all over the armor of the part you want to paint. smearing the blackened water all over the panel.

6: WAIT. the blackened water will fill in all the cracks and settle in "natural" lines and smudges and create a nice effect.

It's called a "wash" I learned it from kitbash.

I think it's fine here. What he's (he, right?) made is fanart as much as anything else here... it just takes a more three dimensional form.

I see no reason why this can't be here.

Nice colors by the way. That red looks better than the dull blue and red the Ground Gundam had before.

Just wait until I make my custom GM sniper custom from 8th ms team. I'm going to give it a paint job like a normal 8th MS team ground gundam, except I'll be leaving all the red and blue parts the olive green.

I also plan on making another gm sniper, only making it look like the "Chirico red shoulder scopedog" from votoms, but you'll just have to see it to understand haha.

Why, that's quite a nice Ground Gundam there Chirico. And your GM Sniper custom paint job sounds awesome, I can't wait to see it.

Perhaps I am the only one, but I think that "wash" effect looks horrible.
I'm doing something with my life, I'm just not sure what that is yet.

Well, everyone has their own opinion. I personally this it's rather cool. One would expect mobile suits to get dirty from combat. Good work on the GM and new pics.

It puts the models out of scale .. With machines 60 ft in size, sloshing through mud, the feet will be entirely muddy, the calves moderately, the thighs barely and the rest of the machine simply dusty - unless they went swimming.

Still, everybody's gotta start somewhere .. :) Keep up the good work - but remember scale !

Good thing about washes is, you can just wash it off if you don't like it.

Perhaps I'll try making it in scale like you suggested, but sometimes you gotta just remember they're half a foot tall toys.

Plus, I would think that one would get more than dirt on them, what about char from explosions, oil from maintaining the joints, and other mechanical features?

Scale is a good point, but 60 feet tall or not, if you stand next to an explosion, you're gonna get charred.

They also get rusty. I'm sure mobile suits in the tropical regions had problems with rust.

Eh, do you think we could leave comments like this to a like it/don't like it basis? Chirico didn't bring his designs to to berated and cut down.

He is simply stateing a fact that burns don't look like splashes of paint. He is not ripping on anything of Chirico's.

It's okay ZZ, it's not like I'm taking anything all that seriously, It's an internet forum full of gundam fans.

I think that it might not look as good as I was going for, but I do think it looks like charred armor enough for me. I'll just keep trying and getting better at what I do.
