Technical and Historical Notes:

The original concept of the USN-ARK1 was designed and developed by the Unified Sol Nation. The purpose of the unit was to serve a support role from mid-range, utilizing specialized adjusting beam rifles known as "Smart Beam Rifles" to ensure 100% accuracy rates from long distances. Not only that but the units were built for swift retreats, housing specialized large thruster packs for high-powered acceleration. The unit was also specifically designed as a specialized three-panel cockpit, which was specifically designed for children between the age of fifteen and eighteen. This was due to the fact that the unit was constructed for paragons bred for the military, and all of the militarys paragons were merely children.

Originally equipped with a limited amount of weaponry, the unit sported the smart beam rifle, a massive micro missile launcher capable of launching walls of missiles, and an anti-beam shield for defensive purposes. These were its only armaments as it was intended for a support role. Thusly it did not sport any close combat weapons. However, considering the size of both the Micro Missile Launcher and the Smart Beam Rifle, only one was capable of being utilized at a time. The default payload of the USN-ARK1 was the smart beam rifle and the shield, however those skilled with the missile launcher usually launched with that particular weapon.

When it was finally put into service, about twelve limited production models were sent out. Two units remained on Mars while two squadrons recieved five USN-ARK1's each. They were assigned to ace pilots and put into new squadrons, and effectively utilized to sabotage assaults from the Pluto Liberation Front. Even as something produced in mediocre numbers, it proved to be a powerful unit. However, the price of maintaining this unit ws high, and put too much of a strain on the military's budget. Before the units could be dismantled and utilized for other benefits in the military, the USN began to fall to the Pluto Liberation Front.

The two units on Mars were dismantled and utilized to further mecha technology for the Solar Dominion. The first squadron assigned the USN-ARK1 was completely eradicated by the Pluto Liberation Front, and the second squadron had supposedly been wiped out by the USN in order to cover up their experiments involving mobile suits and Paragons. However, the remains of the Second Squadron mobile suits were stolen from the facility on Mars they were kept at, and transported elsewhere.

Transported to a small engineer's garage on Second Earth, parts from these five units were put together to complete a incomplete mobile suit frame. With access to some of the more advanced technologies (Due to the orbiting colonies around Second Earth), this engineer's garage was able to completely customize this incomplete frame and finish it, making a new USN-ARK1 unit with new weapon additions and stronger armoring. Considering the codenumber "USN-ARK1" had been removed from USN military records and documents, the new USN-ARK1 did not need to have a altered codenumber, instead keeping the original. Not only that, it sported a prototype compact warp system known as the "Speed System," allowing the unit a long distance "Warp Jump" ability for out-of-combat travel. Not only that but it was equipped and modified with a variety of systems to improve its overall performance. It also included a brand new cockpit interface designed to match the pilots needs, making it more suited for an adult than a child as well as more complex.

The custom USN-ARK1 was equipped with a "Weapon Arm," which consisted of the entire left arm. Sporting the latest in quasi-communications technology, the arm mounted four "Strike Funnels," capable of detaching from the arm and operating independently from commands from the cockpit. Not only that but their beam reflective surface allowed them to efficiently reflect beam fire directed at them, as well as piercing energy oriented shielding. Each Strike funnel supported two semi-automatic beam cannons with devastating power. Due to this the funnels would need to constantly return to the arm in order to recharge their power thanks to the sub-drive reactor stored in the shoulder of the left arm. Some other features it sported was a heat grappler. through a system in the weapon arm the funnels, while still attached, were capable of heating up and tearing through enemy armor in the shape of a claw.

Despite being equipped with the weapon arm, additional weapons were added to the frame in order to boost its firepower and efficiency. A heat blade was mounted onto a custom made side skirt on the left side for close combat, and a powerful spreadshot shotgun was attached to a custom made side skirt on the right side. Not only did it have these additional armaments, but the weapons it was capable of utilizing in its original state were still able to be used by the USN-ARK1. This included the Smart Beam Rifle, and the Massive Micro Missile Launcher, as well as the anti-beam shield.

The custom USN-ARK1 would later make its debut in SE 1641, and would gain the nickname "Blue Wind," which was later translated to the name Aoikaze and officially branded with the name. Belonging to a Solo Mercenary, it proved effective in getting solo missions done at great risk to the pilot. Whenever the unit is seriously damaged, it tends to disappear for a month or two on end, before making a new appearance.

Thanks a bunch.

I too love the color scheme. Though I seem to be sticking to blues and golds a lot recently, I need to start branching off into different, unique color designs =X.

Optional hand armaments: Bunker Buster x 2, attaches to left and right arm, power rated at 0.1 GWs (total)

Technical and Historical Notes:

If the USN-ARK1 had a sister unit, the USN-ARK3 would be it. Constructed in secret some time after the Unified Solar Nations had fallen, two ARK designs were created to replace the original ARK1 unit. The ARK2 "Chrysamere" proved to be too unstable with its powerful "Thanatos" back system and "Bunker Buster" weapons, which caused the unit to overload and destroy itself. Later on the ARK3 was designed in order to utilize the Thanatos and Bunker Busters. With no official designation for the ARK3, one of its engineers dubbed it the Akaikaze, meaning "Red Wind." Hearing rumors of a ARK1 known as "Aoikaze" is what inspired the name. Even some of its internal systems were created from combat data of the Aoikaze.

The ARK3 was primarily designed to be a ground-based close-combat unit. Equipped with no actual back-mounted thrusters, all of its booster capabilities were located in its legs, which allowed it to jump quite high and perform a multitude of combat maneuvering. However, in place of thruster the back sported large hardpoints and plugs in order to support the Thanatos weapon package on its back. One of the advantages of the Akaikaze was the fact it sported a high-output variant of the reactor in the Aoikaze. This added a great deal of extra energy to the unit while maintaining a stable output.

This allowed the Akaikaze to take full advantage of its energy draining weapons. This was primarily limited to its only two powerful fixed armaments; the "Chrysaor" All-range particle assault, and the "Talos" Anti-energy generator. The Chrysaor all-range particle assault weapon was built all throughout the frame; almost every gold-colored piece on the frame is capable of generating and releasing high-precision particles. Firing off the weapons all at once creates a mass sphere of particles shooting out from the Akaikaze; however, it is also capable of firing them individually, giving it over twenty 4 MW beam guns mounted onto its frame. Its other function, the anti-energy generator, allowed it to produce not only a shield capable of deflecting energy, but bend the shield in order to form close-combat weapons, such as a sword or a mace.

However, its fixed armaments were not its pride and joy; it was the armaments of the ARK2 in which the ARK3 was constructed for. The "Thanatos" Weapon Arms were two large manipulator arms that can attach to the large hardpoints and plugs on the back. These arms not only acted as powerful thrusters and wing binders, but contained a variety of extra weaponry. This included two powerful plasma sabers, small strike funnels bearing a resemblance to the one on the Aoikaze (though smaller), and two micro missile launchers which can launch a large spread of missiles. While the Aoikaze was built for range, the Akaikaze was definately constructed for close combat capability. However, what made that capability truly deadly, was the simply named "Bunker Buster" arm-mounted weapons. Each "Bunker Buster" equipped with a 700 MW generator was capable of focusing a mass amount of their energy into a single point, forcing over a GW of piercing energy in an extremely small but expanding blast. The purpose of this weapon was to be able to break any defense; even the impenetrable dome employed around cities such as London.

Technical and Historical Notes:

The final run of the ARK line of mobile suits, the USN-ARK4 is a unit constructed for balance between the USN-ARK1 and the USN-ARK3, mixing both close combat and ranged capabilities in one specialized unit. However, what made the unit truly unique was the outside help of a contractor. Considering the funds of the independent engineers had run dry by the end of the previous year, they were contracted with more than enough funds to construct a customized unit. Thusly, the USN-ARK4 project had begun.

The unit sports a extremely feminine build. Sleek, thin legs and arms allow it greater AMBAC ability than any other ARK unit down the line. However, due to the feminine and smaller build of the suit, a lighter alloy was utilized on the frame. While the alloy was light and did not provide much defense, it provided great heat resistance and structural durability. This meant that the mobile suit could easily survive extremely rough impacts on hard objects, allowing it to run extremely fast and leap great heights and distances without causing joint damage. However, even such durable materials have their limits after awhile.

Generally, aside from its lack of strong armor the USN-ARK4 was a fairly balanced unit. Its sensor systems were up to par with the ARK1 thanks to the introduction of a powerful sentient AI interface in the machine. Also, in order to make up for its lack of defense, the shoulder binders were expanded to encorporate a beam deflection technology recently under development by the independent engineers. Through the use of a specialized sub-drive in the shoulders, the binders were capable of deflecting and redirecting double the amount of energy the ARK4's reactor was capable of pushing out, meaning over 20 MWs of particles.

The unit was also equipped with a large variety of close combat and ranged combat weaponry, fixed onto its frame. It had the standard head CIWS in the forehead, two powerful beam lances stored on its back rack, a beam spray cannon located in the lower chest, high-speed rocker launchers hidden beneath the shoulders, and quite possibly one of its most powerful armaments, the Shock Grappler. If this particular mobile suit is able to get its hands on any part of another mobile suit, it is capable of sending a powerful electrical shock through the enemy mobile suits systems. This allows the unit to shut down all the primary functions of the enemies suit in that particular area it touched, such as an arm, leg, thrusters, head, or even the cockpit. If the voltage was high enough, it was even capable of melting exterior armor. Its final fixed armament is a wire-guided strike funnel, capable of heating up to extreme temperatures and cutting through metal like butter.

Its final set of equipment was compromised of two high-speed automatic rifles, capable of attaching to gun racks on its back, right next to the beam lances. These automatic beam rifles allowed a swift-shooting stream of beams. While such weapons were quick to overheat, they were also quick to recharge and cool down to fire once again. The unit seemingly has a near infinite amount of armaments; if it loses one it always has a back-up just in case. It's performance specifications are similar to that of the USN-ARK1 and ARK3. However, it has the highest speed rating out of both units.

The unit was completed sometime before SE 1642, and handed over to its original contractor, Cassandra Praden. Considering the units purplish color scheme, the unit was named the Shikoshindou, which meant "Purple Wonder." The units feminine frame and look surely match the beauty of its young and aspiring pilot.

The golden shoulders are very striking. I like them! The rest of the suit has definitely achieved its intended goal of a fast, feminine-looking frame. Another quality SRW franken!

I'm really impressed with all three SRW-designed mechs, and this one really stands out.
It says Coodinator use, does that mean this has something to do with CE?

While the suit is Coordinator use, it has nothing to do with CE. In the RPG it's made for, we have Coordinator as one of around 10 different other genetic types you can chose to be when you roleplay.

Since the person who requested the suit to be made was ICly a Coordinator, the suit was specifically and uniquely designed to be operated by a Coordinator. Meaning, it has certain complex functions that something such as a Natural or Newtype may not be able to handle like a Coordinator can.

It can easily be changed, though.

I get the SRW lineart from this place called the "Gate of Magus," you can see some of the lineart from there in the Huckenbien thread where EFF was asked for the Huckenbien Mk. II images.

Or just use this link here.

The rest of my lineart usually comes from MAHQ.

My next unit in production is the USN-ARK2, the "Chikiba," or Blood Fang. It's going to be a SRW/MAHQ image remake of the Red Feng listed on the front page. That'll finish up all the USN-ARK units.

Currently I've been inspired by the many artists here who have been drawing out their designs.

So, I decided to open up Photoshop and give it a try. Currently, this is the design I've pushed out so far.

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e237/ ... design.gif

Any ideas or suggestions towards its completion would be appreciated, :o.

The design part I like most about this one is the fact that I've exposed it's "Cockpit Sphere," where the cockpit is located in the lower torso. I don't know why I did it like that... I just think it looks cool.

So yeah. Ideas! Suggestions!

Sveet start. I sort of like the idea of the exposed sphere, provided that the rest of the machine’s defenses make up of leaving the pilot vulnerable or there is a logical explanation.

I Mostly draw by hand but I’ve tried Photoshop work once. I had to abandon it because my mouse was giving me no end of trouble. Since I’ve settled that issue (it was the bloody mouse pad) I should give it another try.

Thank you Shori, you’ve both inspired me, and provided a distraction from all the other things I do to kill time.

The idea was to basically give the pilot not only the view from cameras in the head and the sort, but to have his own field of vision if the said cameras are destroyed. Also, it can help trick the enemy by thinking it may be a weak spot; however, particular defenses my prevent any mortal hits to the cockpit sphere.

For some reason I tend to have a real steady mouse hand. I use no mouse pad, and my optical mouse tends to send the cursor to multiple points of the screen at random times, but I still manage to hold and work steady with it.

Also, glad to be of assistance, :D. Can't wait to see the works you push out soon.

The problem with my mouse was that it refused to be steady, it wanted to move to the left whenever I tried to move it to the right. Making it extremely difficult to do most anything, let alone detail work on Frankens and the like. (I’m using an optical as well) My solution was to get rid of the cheep mouse pad I got last Christmas and put my mouse on a piece of paper.

Since then I’ve had no significant problems and my mouse control it much smoother.

As for “Soon”… I’ll se what I can do but I make no promises.

Here's a new design I'm working on, still incomplete. Maybe could get a few ideas for it from you peoples.

Nameless Prototype

Basically, the idea behind this mobile suit is a sort of "Optimus Prime Super Mode" transformation, where it combines together with another type of mobile suit specifically designed for such combinations. In order for the other mobile suit to dock properly, it must jetison its arms and open the sides of its chest to reveal docking clamps and mechanisms. The second mobile suit then precedes to transform into a proper, attachable form and locks in place onto the clamps, allowing the chest pieces to close back down and secure it in place. Also, the secondary mobile suits arms come down and lock in place to complete the transformation, giving it a new pair of arms for use.

This grants the currently nameless martian mobile suit additional reactor output, thruster output, as well as new weaponry. I don't know why I decided to do as such but I thought it was a nifty idea to franken out a transformation process. As you can tell, I have the first two steps; Basic, and the mode before the other mobile suit attaches.

This is just one of the ideas I'm applying to the suit; the other idea is a sort of active camoflague system; not in the way of the Testament or the Blitz, though. Considering its armor will be made out of the same materials as some of my previous designs (IE Archetype Seth and Rah, Aethyr and Telfyr E2 Types), it has millions of nanites in its armor. When the mobile suits hands touch the surface of something, it has the ability to activate the nanites which can then alter the color of the mobile suit to its surrounding so it can blend in, making it invisible to the naked eye and certain sensors. This also explains its default neutral color scheme of gray, as since it can change colors it doesn't really need a flashy color design.

Any other types of ideas appreciated, :o. I want to make this one a good franken.

Does it ever have legs of its own, or is it purely an add on component?

It'll have legs when I find a decent enough image to use for them, however there could be the possibility of it being capable of ejecting its legs for new ones as well.

The secondary mobile suits legs will mount under the arms of the primary and act as a sort of multi-platform weapon, at least for the first combination mobile suit I design. I plan on making two, but have yet to make any ideas for the second one.
