Re: Perfect gundam game (nothings perfect though)

That, or for god sake, hand the IP over to a reputable Western developer (yeah I said it, do somethin' *grabs crotch*) since Japanese development teams seem WAY to comfortable with the fact that Gundam is immensely popular in their home country and will sell no matter what to actually put any consi...

Aw what, it actually came out? And I missed it? I wanted to see how they were going to do the 3-D, being an anime and all.

Re: Broken Blade

If you like a bit of fantasy with your mecha, then it's all good. Even though the explanation behind how their tech works equates to magic, they still keep it pretty realistic. The combat is nice and realistic (For mecha) as well. It might have a tad bit of fan service at a scene or two, but it doe...

Re: Question about CE Gundams

The Astray and Murasame are mass-produced designs with the Gundam-type head so there's no cost-efficiency reason to limit the design to a small run of suits. The Gundams were probably mostly done for psychological reasons. Well no one reacts to the Astrays as "Oh no it's a Gundam!" but th...

Re: 3-D Displays?

The primary camera for the old RX-78 isn't actually behind the eyes. Those are decoration. The main camera is in the mohawk. There is only one. As far as 3d displays go, why? What frame of reference do you have? You are seeing a fast- moving object on what is essentially a flat pane of black. There...

3-D Displays?

Now according to Nintendo, 3-D Displays will help you judge distance and there make 3-D platforming in videogames easier to do (though at the level we are right now, it just makes you queasy if you stare at it too long). So applying that to Gundam and various Mecha in general, wouldn't having a 3-D ...

Re: Mobile Suit Control Theme

I always imagined it to control like a shooter, there's two sticks (or w/e the series uses), one moves forward, back, and strafes left and right, and the other one aims. It's a fairly versatile control scheme as far as shooting stuff goes, and anything that can do that already has an edge in mobilit...

Re: Infinite Stratos

Char, haha! She should get her IS repainted red, but it looks like Houki's is red. Originally I assumed this was based on some kind of dating sim, with Houki being the canon girl, but now that I have learned its based on a light novel, I'm not quite as sure. I can say with some level of confidence t...

Re: The Universal Century's inability to change for the bett

Except that this is wrong, because we have seen Newtypes have kids. Mirai Yashima is sometimes considered to be a low-level Newtype and had two kids, and we saw Hathaway exhibit some Newtype sensations in Char's Counterattack. In Victory Gundam you have Shakti Kari, who is a Newtype and the daughte...

Re: The Universal Century's inability to change for the bett

Well Gundam X says that Newtypes are a mutation, which would imply genetics. On the other hand it is an AU. I actually wasn't considering it, but even if it isn't canon, it is written by Tomino himself and I would imagine that at least his intentions for Gundam are applicable. However, my point is t...

Re: The Universal Century's inability to change for the bett

While it can be said that human history is filled with conflict happening somewhere, one of the themes in Gundam is that humanity should change for the better. As far as UC is concerned I think the Newtypes would be key to this as they seem to unconditionally be able to get along, if it weren't for ...

Re: Teslashark's webfic mech&tech question thread

Actually the most "realistic" transforming mech might be the GNY-003 Gundam Abulhool from one of the Gundam 00 side stories. After seeing it you'll know why. Though if you're writing a science fiction story, its probably better to focus on the writing first. Most of the actually tech behin...

It's alright, can't say too much since it's free after all. Though I'm assuming at some point it was retail? It definitely has some great moments though, like getting air dropped in the attack on that base in the middle of the desert. I also like how the first person view is from the cockpit.

Re: Aquarion Evol! New Aquarion Series!

I'm so looking forward to this series. :) And it looks like we may have a possible love triangle this time, which wouldn't surprise me since the studio also did/does Macross Frontier. Not just the the studio, but the creator of Aquarion, Shōji Kawamori, is also the creator of not just Frontier but ...

Re: What makes a Gundam a Gundam?

In AD, "Gundam" has a similar symbolic meaning. Though, correct me if I'm wrong, at some point I got the impression that the Innovator's suits were "Gundam type" suits. It might also just be an aesthetic rather than specs and power. Masurao and Susanoo are on par with any Gundam ...

I think we went back to the monster of the week formula, though the monsters will just be a little more important. Now instead of the Galactic Cross Slash to finish off guys, its the Tau Missile. I personally hate those two girls that were introduced. The plot was finally picking up when Head person...

Re: What do you want to see in the next Gundam series?

if it has to be a new series, then here are a few bits of opinion... as for the female Protagonist in a gundam series: That would be interesting, but I'm afraid we might get a female Heero yuy (Lacks emotions) or a character more angsty than ever before...plus, isn't it a gundam tradition that any ...

Re: I'm rewatching the First Gundam trilogy...

The animation in the 3 movies is really sketchy sometimes, not even as solid as Disney movies that were released around the same time. For me personally, that didn't matter. I went into it knowing the animation was bad. I got into Gundam starting with SEED, with all of its digitally colored glory, b...

Something I personally don't understand is Ichika's weapon. It spends shield energy in order to attack through the shields? While mechanic itself is totally understandable, having played a few trading card games (where its known as trample, or piercing, or w/e) and shows up in videogames a lot, it m...

I thought the way the Zeta movies was a hint that there wouldn't be any ZZ movies.
