Re: Transformers General Discussion thread

I didn't know that about the Worlds Collide segment, huh. I have no idea how it would work legally. I wonder if those stories are considered amongst Dreamwave's assets somehow? I know IDW addressed it when they first got the franchise but I can't remember the specifics. I also wonder if it is the pr...

Re: Transformers General Discussion thread

I think IDW has thought about finishing up the Dreamwave stuff, but from what I understand b/c Dreamwave went bankrupt with many of their employees unpaid the stories that are/were written are in some kind of legal limbo that I don't really understand. The Energon run was pretty good, and the Worlds...

Re: Transformers General Discussion thread

Those profile books were so well done, re-reading those really shows how much they had planned for that series.

It's amazing they still are in business because I know for a while in the early 90s it was not looking good for the franchise.

Re: Transformers General Discussion thread

Man, i miss Dreamwave, especially their ongoing series, that was a real nice blend of ideas I though. It's unfortunate the shenanigans that eventually drove that business under. That was a sad day when their G1 stuff ended b/c it was really starting to pick up. One of my fav pieces of TF merch is my...

Re: Transformers General Discussion thread

Sorry, I'm late to the discussion, but I really enjoyed Masterforce because it was a such a tightly focused show on a small, but well-developed cast of characters, and Overlord was such a cool take on a Decepticon leader. As an aside I know everybody says Rodimus is a space winnebago, but I'm prett...

Re: Transformers General Discussion thread

I've had those sets for a while, since I forgot to mention much of the Japanese stuff. But yeah Madmamn released them. I actually really like Masterforce for it's different spin on a Transformers series. I never ended up liking Headmasters or Victory overly much. Sorry, I'm late to the discussion, ...

Re: Chaos Theater Mailbag Drop Box

On the Gundamn podcast you mentioned that the video game industry is hurting more than they let on. I was just wondering if you'd care to elaborate on the whys and wherefores that have lead the industry to where it is now?

Re: Gundamn! Mailbag Drop Box

Hey guys, It's been a while since I've been here, but do you think the recent series of adapting Gundam manga/novels is just a passing fad, or do you think they will continue to draw inspiration from these other sources. If they do continue are there any others that you would be interested in seeing...

I read a quote somewhere to the effect that most fantasy writers either try to be like Tolkien or opposite from Tolkien; do you think this is true, why or why not?

Thinking of another couple animes from Candyland:
Machine Robo: revenge of Chronos. The first 3 released by Central Park Media. 15 episodes completed out of 40. So disheartening.
Also Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo just to be able to see them even and see what territory they covered.

Hey Gundamn team. You guys are my favorite podcast for one simple reason: your format is awesome. The articles/mailbag and then two segments is the way to go. Also the tone you guys take to the material is incredibly fair and balanced and I can tell you are actual fans of the stuff you talk about (u...

Re: Gundamn! Mailbag Drop Box

What is most nerdy thing from mecha anime that has crossed over into real life?

Ex./ I used Daybreak's Bell from 00 as the groom's party procession song at my wedding.

Hey team here are a couple of ideas for some discussion: 1. The most misunderstood characters in mecha anime. These can be characters that are misquoted, misappropriated in arguments or just generally misunderstood. 2. The History of Robot Anime in North America. - The shows that first came over, th...

At the Autobot field command, housed at a Canadian Forces base due to NEST’s dissolution after the events in Shanghai and Egypt, Optimus Prime waited impatiently. “Why haven’t Skids and Mudflap reported in yet? They should have been able to determine the root cause of the avalanches by now.” Bumbleb...

Re: Ep. 069 - Stark Raving Madhouse!

@Hyakushiki @kayone73 I think this guy is the real deal. Believe me, I've encountered plenty of dead end G1-ers over the years, and these are all the sorts of things they say. I don't think this guy is clever enough to just be trolling those hardcore fans with some caricature. There are plenty of p...
