Re: Arkham Knight Thread

As an Arkham fan I'm pretty disappointed with the story. Only continue if you want to read spoilers. So if you were a fan of the Batman comics before Arkham, Jason Todd was at the top of your list of suspects for the Arkham Knight. But then Rocksteady lied to us, either that or they're hiding a time...

Re: Believe it or not, I just have a question

Just doing an eyeball estimate, the RX-78 is about a quarter as 'deep' as it is tall so somewhere are ~6.5m from the farthest extent of the chest to rear-side of it's thruster pack.

Re: Fantasy in Space! (?)

Warhammer 40k is pretty much what you're looking for. At it's core it's Warhammer Fantasy Battles IN SPACE! You've got knights in the Space Marines, particularly the Black Templars , the Dark Angels , and the Grey Knights . Or the Space Wolves if you prefer vikings. You've got your Elves in the Elda...

Re: Future-tech: Ducted-Fan Jetpacks! 06/08/11

Bad news. The US Senate canceled funding for the US Navy's Laser and Railgun programs. As if that weren't bad enough the Littoral Combat Ship is being given a waiver on having to undergo the mandatory stress tests.

Re: Dom Funf- Delaz Personal Suit

As far as the Dom vs Gelgoog comparison, since the Gelgoog has a similar thruster setup (including hovering features, as we see in Gundam ZZ) To be honest we should probably attribute that to a retrofit rather than an original spec feature. I mean we see it, but it's never mentioned in any of the o...

Re: Future-tech: Anti-Laser 02/19/11

Navy makes record-breaking laser, it's supposedly capable of burning through 20ft/second of steel and..... they want to use it to shoot messages at allied ships.

Re: Future-tech stuff: More mili-centric stuff 02/11

The good thing about UCVs is they aren't very viable as the sole combatants. Most are controlled from a station on the other side of the world with a signal bouncing off one or more satellites in space. This means control lag and satellites are extremely vulnerable to attack as their course or posit...

Re: Future-tech stuff: Mostly military-centric stuff 01/27/1

In better news, Boeing is releasing a new upgrade package for the F/A-18.

Improvements include an IRST, a new missile detection system, two 1.5kg conformal fuel tanks with a net zero increase to drag, and a low-observability weapons pod designed to decrease the drag of weapons.

Meanwhile, the F-35 STOVL variant went supersonic for the first time last June 10 Don't forget that cracks are forming in the rear of the fuselage, the lift-fan exhaust is melting the deck of our carriers, AND it's been delayed for another two years. I'll be surprised and upset if that waste of mon...

Yes, there is. One has you become a martyr in the name of moral behavior, the other makes you complicit in the transgression of said behavior. There is most certainly a correct answer, whether you wish to realize it or not.

Re: They're altogether ooky, the Zabi family

I'm sure there are many people in the military who would want to disobey what they believe to be an immoral order, but if people started disobeying their superiors as such it would effectively shut down the military because everyone can claim moral issues for shooting at an enemy, taking prisoners,...

Re: They're altogether ooky, the Zabi family

The thing is that the people charged in the Nuremburg Trials were presumably "the superiors". They were the Gihrens, the Kycilias, the Bask Oms, etc. They were the men who got to their position because of their beliefs aligning with Nazism, their expertise, and non-issue of carrying out t...

Ms. Machiavelli Who's Miss Machiavelli? The only person I'm aware of with that name is Niccolo. Assuming that's who you meant, he was hardly evil in any fashion, despite common misconceptions. The Prince was written as a Republican (in the classical sense of electing representatives) book, it was a...

Re: On Old Technology Circumventing New Technology

I meant more the issued rifles, since after WWII those did advance (Could be argued right at the end of WWII as well.) to modern assault rifles. Like they go back to bolt-action rifles or even clip-fed semi-autos a bit to often for my liking. I prefer magazines (Though I have no issue with semi-aut...
