Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

I remarked on it to a friend of mine after the last episode, but it's even more obvious here... I find it very interesting that our protagonists in IBO are no longer fighting for any kind of higher ideals. They were on the (relatively) morally heroic side as long as they were supporting Kudelia, but...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Hmm. That bit where McGillis basically goes "illegal weapons are part of the zeitgeist now, so call up all our allies" makes me wonder what he's got up his sleeve. We know he's got Bael on the way, but what else? He also said Flauros was in a grey area because its railguns used "conve...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

I just watched the last two episodes myself, so on the question of whether Ein is incorporated into the Vidar in any way or not... Pros: The Vidar's use of its feet as weapons is highly reminiscent of the Graze Ein, IMO (in the same way that its use of its saber is highly reminiscent of the Kimaris'...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

Weren't Ranka and Sheryl already the equivalent of Cyber Newtypes? Both were artificially made to have Vajra-like powers (or am I remembering that wrong?), so if anything, Mikumo would just be extra-Cyber...y. It's also worth noting that the name she says in Ep.18, Rudanjal Rom Mayan, is the name o...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

Well, to be honest, Micro missiles weren't known for their killing ability in previous series either against anything other than grunts. Well no, but they at least got used more often. Or at least I feel like they did. I pretty recently rewatched Frontier and Plus and watched SDFM for the first tim...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

That... that... Past a certain point I could see it coming, but they really did swerve me with the slice-of-life festival opening (devoid of any pineapple-flavored products). I'd just about convinced myself this was a breather episode (forgetting the teaser from last week), then figured it was a bre...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

I'm late to watching episode 6, and late to providing commentary on this series in general, but the strong parallels between Messer and Mikumo in this episode (and Hayate and Freyja's responses to them while drinking with Chuck, Makina, and Reina) made me realize... pretty nearly all the characters ...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Personally, I like the new ED better than the new OP. But yeah, looks like we have a wave of new characters and mecha incoming. It's an extreme remodel if so, but it does seem likely that the new Gundam seen with the Isaribi is a refit Gusion. It won't last, but I appreciate Orga trying not to fight...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

any one gonna do the Walkure sign in conventions/ in the presence of friends? i certainly will. 8) I noticed there's at least three variants on it: the single-hand version Mikumo and (I think?) Kaname did (which is unfriendly to my non-animated fingers), the two-person version Makina and Reina did ...

Psst. Wrong thread! This is Iron-Blooded Orphans. Delta's over here.

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

I found it interesting that this time they've skipped directly to the Valkyries supporting an idol singer thing. Apparently the UN Spacy finally figured out that when weird crap shows up singing always seems to fix it so they should lead with that. This is the best response I've seen to Delta. :lol...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

The battle against the Brewers was the first combat in the series that kind of disappointed me, and most of that was just because I completely lost track of the mobile suit battle beyond the actions of Akihiro, Masahiro, Mika, and the Guision. I never had a good feel for how many Man Rodis were out ...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

Huh. Around the 0:51-0:52 mark, we see that the Walkure Valkyries (say that five times fast) project holograms of the idols from their shoulders?

(in b4 it turns out they're secretly MP Sharon Apple Vocaloids? )

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Oh, one more comment. There are various explanations you could put forward for it... social conditioning, registration in a theoretically-inescapable database-of-discrimination, a simple meta aid to help in character identification... but I think it's interesting that even in Tekkadan, none of the H...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

...wow. It's been over seven years since I posted here. I had to clear my old SEED ships out of my signature before I could post. This is surreal. Anyway, getting back on topic, I haven't been into a currently-airing mecha series since Gundam 00 , but I decided to give Iron-Blooded Orphans a go, and...

"Commander, uh, sir?"

Matt grinned a little. He recognized that voice. Ensign Enzo Cagliari. About as green as a leaf in spring, but a good kid.

"What is it, Ensign? Something on your mind?"

If McCrowan can't press the resist button rapidly enough, Meryl dies. There are no continues, my ...
