Re: Nukes in gundam
well I'm no nuclear physicist but I feel the need to dispel a myth right here. What we currently know as a nuclear reactor (which are only shown to be used in SEED BTW) Nuclear reactors have existed in the Universal Century and in other Alternate Universes. In UC, this plot point was danced around ...

Hi Neo,
I don't know if this has been posted before or if you even know about it but, I came across a pedobear custom Acguy model on HobbyTown's website. Link is below. Enjoy!

Re: Gundamn! Mailbag Drop Box
Hey Chris and other Gundamners, This isn't mecha related but you guys talk about tropes and other plot devices that occur frequently in TV and other media. I just finished Assassins Creed Revelations and there's a cut scene where mother and child get immolated in glorious Athha fashion. Like I said,...

Re: Chaos Theater Mailbag Drop Box
Hey Chris and Pedro, long time listener of Gundamn! and just now getting into Chaos Theater. Anyway, listening to Gundamn, I know that you guys aren't really fans of dumb comedy series like Family Guy; can't say that I blame you. But I was wondering what you thought of the Archer series on FX? I per...

Re: Topic Submission Thread Mark II
I'd like to know the cast's opinions on the crappiest and/or complicated weapons and mecha in Gundam and other mecha shows. An example would be the Requiem superweapon from Gundam Seed Destiny.

Re: Giant swords, are they feasible?
I don't get how the heat blade doesn't warp either, since metal creep would occur at 40% of the melting point. The only thing i can think of is some kind of ceramic/metal composite. Either way, the gundam universe doesn't go into great detail and we just have to accept it.

Re: Giant swords, are they feasible?
A sword the size of a Gouf's wouldn't necessarily be unfeasible, since the size of the mobile suit and sword are proportional to one another. Think of the broadswords of the Goths or Vikings, they were heavy sure, but they were still used to great effect, and certainly weren't unwieldy. The speed of...

Re: Non Mech but real tech related. How do solar panels work?
Opaque panels would work better because of its ability to absorb radiation and heat and convert to energy; in other words, the measure of its albedo. Darker materials will absorb heat and radiation better than lighter materials. So, for the time being, opaque photovoltaics are the better choice in t...

Even though I'm not entirely fond of Wufei, I have to admit that he's definitely the most focused of the five pilots, which is probably why he didn't suffer from the madness that other users had when using the ZERO System. Wufei was focused on seeking revenge on Treize from earlier in the series and...

Re: Conventional vehicles with MS tech
1) We already outfit aircraft with flare and chaff dispensers to try to save them from a missile attack. On that note, we also use radar absorbent material, ECMs, and try to minimize the heat signature of jet exhaust. 2) We don't carpet bomb; we haven't since WWII because we can't target civilian lo...

Re: Conventional vehicles with MS tech
The thing about missiles is that you have to have something there to fire them off. A hellfire missile may pack a decent punch for its size but it pays for that in limited range when compared to cruise missiles. You'd still have to deploy an F-22 or an Apache just to fire the missile; so that's $150...

Re: U.C. Transformable MS
In MA/waverider mode, the thrusters serve as a means of generating the velocity needed for the wings to produce the necessary lift for flying. It's not mentioned but, (and this is just my speculation) the wings are probably shaped like an airfoil to produce high velocity/low pressure on the top side...

Hey Chris, I was just curious when you and the other hosts of Gundamn! were going to have another episode with Bill Whipton. In my opinion, that was one of the funniest episodes recorded, and I can only imagine the hilarity that would ensue if you brought him back. Just Curious, GundamMaker01

Re: Identifying UC firearms
As far as the pistols go, the pistol on the lower left of that scan is a Zeon version of the Luger, IMO. Comparing the 1916 Luger I have to the scan, the animators borrowed the exposed barrel, trigger guard, safety lever, and action. The picture of the Luger on wikipedia is pretty much the same as t...

Re: Comparison of UC and AD Tech
This is just speculation but, I'm more inclined to believe that GN particles reduce the overall weight of the mobile suit, rather than the mass. Since mass can neither be created nor destroyed, only converted to energy, the show doesn't seem to answer the question of how the MS's mass is converted t...

Re: Why don't "Real Robots" Have Skins Like Us?
luckily for the world, materials engineers can manufacture metals to have high strength, high heat resistance, and corrosion resistance. some methods of manufacturing even allow the metals to be impregnated with oils, for lubrication. it's unnecessary for a mobile suit to have a skin to provide thos...

Re: Are Hadron cannons a possibility?
If you mean the production of mini-black holes or strangelets then, probably not, since neither of those two phenomena can be contained or controlled. The only reason that people have been able to rebuild at Hiroshima is due to the fact that radioactive fallout dissipates over time. Black Holes the ...
