Re: How do the explosive bolts on the Hyaku Shiki Kai Full Armor work?

It's MSV... it doesn't have to make sense or be properly explained. :P The explanation given is that it's basically an ineffectual shotgun-type weapon that fires explosive buckshot that doesn't have enough stopping power to actually hurt an enemy MS other than with a lucky hit on joints or cameras....

Re: Hizack vs. G-Line vs. Pale Rider DII

Per the current AOZ reboot setting the Hi Zack was meant to be a better mobile suit, with the original prototype being a high performance marvel made by the federation, but it got some reduced specs and a defective reactor when AE took on the production job. IIRC later production units fixed the pro...

Is it possible the Hi-Mega cannon has 1/5th the power of a colony laser?

The Unicorn novelization mentions the Gryps II colony laser has an output of 92 million GW. The ZZ Gundam's Hi-Mega cannon being 1/5th the power sounds unbelievable, even with setting details like megaparticle cannons being 4x more efficient than lasers. But an earlier Unicorn novel has characters, ...

How fast is the Hyaku Shiki really?

I noticed that the Zeta Gundam's thruster output is listed on the Japanese wikipedia as the sum of the skirt and leg thrusters. https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CE%96%E3%82%AC%E3%83%B3%E3%83%80%E3%83%A0 But for the Hyaku Shiki it seems to be the four thrusters on the backpack, judging by the uniformit...

Re: The Gundam F91?

So how powerful do you think the Gundam F91 was compared to other UC Units? It seems kinda lightly armed, and aside from some After Image effects, doesn't have a specialized weapon. If you gather up all the databook and author claims the F91 has a super saiyan mode (full operating mode), psycoframe...

Could the Gadelaza have wiped out the ELS advance fleet in its second sortie?

I saw the pixiv profile claim that the Gadelaza is believed to be capable of wiping out a "division class fleet", but wasn't compatible with the enemy. Is there a source for this claim or is it just speculation by fans?

Re: The need for prototypes to surpass the mass-production models

There probably were GM prototypes, it was just internally tested and there was nothing to show. I know the Gundam is considered a prototype and a direct ancestor of the GM but in practice there were probably prototypes of the GM made to evaluate the GM design itself, but by the time we get to Jaburo...

Re: Best designed warship in UC

Hard to beat service life and cost. And IIRC they were even retrofitted with minovsky crafts in Victory, or some were anyway. I'm surprised we didn't see a Salamis variant that just has hangars mounted on both sides of the ship. I guess letting your MS hang from the hull is cheaper but I have to qu...

Re: Best designed warship in UC

Technically speaking, the Salamis. It literally survived from 0070s to 0150s. No other ship design survived longer than that. The survivability comes from the fact of its "incompleteness". It was designed to be highly modifiable and adaptable to different tasks, thus it can be relatively ...

Re: RCX-76 Guncannon: Why did it suck so bad?

Maybe a less obvious answer as to the failings of the RCX-76 is software? They don't have learning computers right? And without the Gundam's combat data the Guncannons wouldn't really have any data for close-range combat. Meanwhile Zeon had a sizable headstart and a certain deliberation in designing...

What's the deal with the Turn A's thrust power?

In the later half of the series Turn A pushes back the Willgem, a fairly sizable ship for what it is, that intends to ram through the Turn A. Are there any numbers on the kind of thrust power the Willgem or Turn A were exhibiting? Because it seems immense to say the least considering not many MS in ...

Nope, Count, it didn't. And I wonder about Tomino when he said "it's all written out." I'm guessing this is confirmation that he was hoping for 50 solid episodes and just didn't get it. Shame on him. The overally story is probably different from the episode by episode storyboarding and wr...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III

That's a great revelation! Newtype ghosts do exist as it has been shown in UC verse already. So is this the only bit mysticism we've been getting from G-Reco? There were all those pressure scenes and Belliri recognising his killed victim etc. Mysticism was very prevalent in Tomino works back in the...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III

Only Flamina was. Mick is just tall. I don't think so. In the ED Mick is slightly taller than Flaminia's bodysuit and from what we've seen she's a bit taller than Klim; neither Flaminia nor Klim seemed particularly tall. http://i.imgur.com/XJWlxGo.jpg In the epilogue she's like a head taller than K...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III

Sadly, the Dorette Fleet cast got no development and Mashner just became a typical crazy irrational Tomino woman who longed for shota. We learned that it wasn't just some greedy power grab or some evil plot to conquer the planet. Dorette just desperately wanted his people to return to Earth regardl...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Mecha Thread Mk I

Maybe the Rattle Python II wasn't completely destroyed, just the front part? And shotguns don't all fire buckshot. Slugs can be effective to 100+ meters. The Kabakali seems to be pretty weak for Mask's suit. Its pseudo funnel chakrams have to be guided by the hands, which seems less advanced than th...
