Re: Gundam characters you're GLAD died

Let's face it. Tomino can't write characters for shit, so practically every single one ends up a douche, a punk or a complete moron. Sometimes all three.

Either way, it makes us all grateful when there's a death, because that's one less irritating character we have to endure.

I guess I was. Okay, so Gundam AGE is the second-most closest AU show to the UC timeline.

Re: Legends and Lies: The Plot Twist Rumors Topic (SPOILERS)

Here's a recent one. AGE is supposed to be set in the future of UC. Although a version of this rumor has attended just about every AU Gundam series. :) Actually, that makes a lot of sense, given the type of colony design the Federation uses, the fact that there is a Federation, and the not-so-small...

Re: The Official Gundam AGE Anime Thread Mk II

I know this is Gundam Kiddies, but episodes five and six were pretty bad. Episode five especially, what with a little boy able to trick his way into a warship so easily, steal the Gundam, trash the UE and then somehow sneak his way OUT of the warship, all in plain view of everyone else. What happene...

Re: Gundam SEED-ZAFT Gundams

Out of order: The Impulse was before the Abyss, Gaia and Chaos. It was decided that the specialist sea/land/space backpacks would instead be made into actual MS instead. This information is of course only found in the manga. ZAFT may have initially copied the EA/Orb designs simply because it was fas...

Re: Burke's First Impressions of Gundam 00!

SonicSP. Marina could have done something. I'm not saying she should have picked up a weapon, not at all. There is more than one way to bring about peace, yet she didn't try any of the non-violent methods. She sat there being someone's ideal princess, a girl who never challenges the status quo, neve...

Re: Burke's First Impressions of Gundam 00!

4 years after Season 1, the Earth Federation is moving right along, the big bad new world order government doing what all governments eventually do: demand compliance and obedience, and crush dissent. A few nations, like the Kingdom of Azadistan, are holding fast to their independence, and unfortun...

Re: Slash hariken jumping

What you wrote about unwinching is interesting. I still don't think its a problem, because the lines are not shown to be under a great deal of tension (if any at all) when fired. But it was good of you to bring it up. Though the fight was extremely boring and one-sided, just like any real-world miss...

Re: Slash hariken jumping

Okay, be calm. Got it. The model also confirms weight of the entire machine. I was assuming that the spike had the same proportions as the pen on my desk. Obviously it doesn't, but then also obviously the spike does not weigh one hundred kg let alone several hundred. Therefore as above: One hundred ...

Re: Slash hariken jumping

You obviously haven't seen Gasaraki, or you would know that the TAs are four to five metres tall. They weigh three tons, five with mission equipment. Guess they're a bit heavier than I thought but still nothing compared to a Gundam. The spikes are less than a metre long, when the TAs hold them they ...

Re: Slash hariken jumping

Putting rockets on spikes is an awesome idea. Not all that difficult to do either; the key trick is to control the timing of when they turn downwards at the end of their flight. Course, you'd only get one or two uses before the fuel runs out, but hey, it isn't like the show overused them, so it isn'...

Re: Slash hariken jumping

The Lancelot's slash harikens often curved their wires during flight as they could change direction thanks to rocket motors on them. Ignoring the impossible power requirements of the winch motors, slash hariken jumping might be possible if the normally limp wire could be instantly made to be rigid o...

Try telling that to Gasaraki, which came out eight years before Code Geass and actually depicted in realistic fashion the practical uses of robot-mounted winches.

Re: Burke's First Impressions of Gundam Seed Destiny!

I don't mind the Destiny or the Akatsuki (I actually don't think it's a ripoff of the Hyaku Shiki) I actually liked a lot of the MS from SEED Destiny. Abyss was cool but impractical for aquatic use (no phonon masers is a bloody crime). The Saviour is bloody awesome, Athrun should get shot for not u...

Re: Burke's First Impressions of Gundam Seed Destiny!

For me, SEED Destiny took the characters I loved in SEED and trashed them silly. I wish I had never watched it. Yzak makes his decision and decides to guard the Eternal! Go Yzak! :D With the worst excuse ever -- claiming that the Eternal is still a ZAFT ship, despite being hijacked about three years...

Re: Burke's First Impressions of Gundam Seed Destiny!

And Kirby, the EA might not be wholly evil but we see more of corrupt military officers working for BC/LOGOS and civilians holding anti-coordinator rallies than we do of decent characters. Which is unfortunate, and kind of the point he was getting at. The Earth Alliance are painted horribly compare...

Re: Burke's First Impressions of Gundam Seed Destiny!

I find it hilarious how Kira is so bent on disabling machines and yet the Archangel casually blows up several submarines with all hands on board. Nice hypocrisy there, bub. Even if Kira disables two hundred machines over the course of the war, the Archangel probably killed more soldiers in a few sec...

Re: The Official Gundam AGE Mecha Thread Mk I

I meant space for internal weapons such as Archangel's Lohengrins, or the Girty Lue's missiles, but point conceded, the Diva does have weapons. I had forgotten about that weapons barrage it did.
