Re: Perfect Grades

I just looked at this on HLJ the other day... The 2 blade version was a limited release when the kit was first launched.

Dark Duel wrote:On a related note, I find hilarious that the SF's entire inner frame is consistently molded in gold plastic, yet the V-Fin NEVER is, and is always flat yellow.
Doing a quick search, it looks to me like that the v-fin is consistently a different texture from the frame.

Even if he was looking at direct feeds from the cameras, can you imagine someone designing a cockpit screen that could display blindingly bright?

Re: The Official 00 Mecha Thread Mk XVII

A lot of anime play fast and loose with parts that disconnect and reattach during a transformation. In Gundam Wing, I'm sure there are a few occasions where Wing's shield floats into place. In contrast, I'm sure I've seen the Zeta grab/place its shield awkwardly during the transformation. As for why...

Re: The Official 00 Mecha Thread Mk XVII

I remember reading summaries of how 00Q could've taken the ELS single handed. As I read it, it was over a long enough timespan, I think it was a week of constant combat. This of course didn't factor in pilot fatigue. This is not a trivial statement however. Other machines would eventually get corner...

Since its been under contention, and I rewatched the last episode last night...

Ribbon's Gundam had a huge gash on the cannon side, causing small secondary explosions and probably breaking parts of the transformation mechanism. He was realizing how messed up his machine was just as he spied the 0.

Re: The Official 00 Mecha Thread Mk XVII

Here's an off question, but is it ever explained HOW the CB-005 Raphael Gundam was created? I've not seen any official sources, but Its seemed like a safe assumption Tieria built it on the mothership. I've only seen part of the movie, but the mothership is huge, and early in the movie they state th...

Re: The Official 00 Mecha Thread Mk XVII

The color difference in the particles is based on how they're CREATED, not on how they're utilized. You could make red/orange particles with a true drive or green particles with a Tau. The reasons for the different colors is to play to the strengths of the drives. The different colors of particles ...

Re: The Official 00 Mecha Thread Mk XVII

The particles are fundamentally similar, but do have their differences. The best analogy I can think of would be changing the fuel mixture in a car. It may have a limited but in-spec effect, such as changing from basic unleaded to premium. On the other hand, it may be like trying to put diesel in a ...

Re: The Grief's Speed...*Frozen teardrop Spoilers*

Well to be honest, I just converted the 2.4km/second to a mach number, not Gs. I guess I misused the term. :? When you convert 2.4km/second into a mach number, you get mach 7.24, more or less. Mach is a unit of relative speed. Specifically, relative to the speed of sound. The speed of sound is not ...

Re: AMBAC

I was thinking about how current satellites rotate and figured it was something like that. I'm sure those work well for fine, very precise motion. I'm not sure how good they are for the sort of sudden, sharp turns you'd want in combat. Something that occurs to me about the way we see MS move: A suit...

Re: AMBAC

AMBAC is a valid alternative to thrust based rotation in null gravity. Fuel is perhaps the most costly part of flying around in space. You sort of have to take the "ground" with you in order to jump off of it. Any time you can do without fuel is valuable. In order to implement AMBAC, you n...

Re: The Grief's Speed...*Frozen teardrop Spoilers*

Well, according to wikipedia , the escape velocity of the moon is 2.38 km/s. Any faster than that and you're not so much flying on the moon as near it. That might also give you escape velocity from earth depending on relative directions and a number of factors I don't feel like looking up. If you'd ...

Re: Giant swords, are they feasible?

I've got another way to look at those. In most, if not all cases, a MS employing phase shift does not use it on its internal structure, just the armor. I'm a bit vague on if mechanical parts like joints and thrusters are covered. Mjolnir is certainly capable of of slamming into a phase shifted head ...

Re: Giant swords, are they feasible?

Just for the record, the GINN's big burly heavy sword in fact does do damage primarily because of its weight rather than sharpness, as stated in Astray R. I don't know the context, but I can't imagine they're saying a round pole of the same weight would be equally effective against normal MS. Certa...

Re: Giant swords, are they feasible?

Edges are always useful, no mater the scale or striking surface. What you're getting from the impact is pressure: force / area. For the same force, less area means more pressure. Thats why a light sword is just as deadly as a heavy mallet. Sharper is better, but you'll be losing edge smacking hard t...

Re: Wing Zero's "ZERO Frame"...

You've got it backwards. The semi- monocoque frame used by older model MS uses the armor as part of the structure. This is sturdy if a bit bulky. Later ms construction (movable frame) depends solely on an internal skeleton. The movable frame does not naturally lend itself as sturdy construction, but...

Re: Akatsuki : No Phase Shift?

Except maybe the beam isn't moving supersonically to begin with? It would explain the numerous times that people have dodged, blocked or even swatted back Jedi-style the beams AFTER they were fired. Next time I rewatch SEED and SEED Destiny, I should count how many times that happens. Perhaps I was...

Re: Beam Weapons : voltage consumation problem

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watt A watt is energy over time, joules per second. Watts per unit time is nonsense unless you're talking about change in output. To Akuma_Blade: There is not a strong relation between reactor and weapon output or rate of fire. Most MS in Gundam use E-Pacs or E-Caps beca...

Re: Akatsuki : No Phase Shift?

Since phase shift made physical vs beam weaponry such an important issue, you'd think they'd have tried to make the behavior of each specific type of weapon distinctive. The biggest problem on this for me was the Strike's rail cannons which should have been physical weaponry but look like beams. On...
