Re: Real Steel

I have to reiterate Strike Zero's sentiments about this movie. It was just really fun. It's not going to be praised as the greatest this or that and it probably won't win any awards, but I was happy to give my money to see this in theaters. Considering how it's becoming more and more common to feel ...

Re: Gundam 0079 - difference between TV series and movie tri

Plus, the movies are usually considered the canon version of the two. As we just said last week , the movies and TV series have exactly the same standing and one isn't any more canon or official or whatever than the other. :| Well, I must've missed that thread. I'm surprised to hear this, to be hon...

Re: Gundam 0079 - difference between TV series and movie tri

I would go with the movies first. The movies, I think, really iron out the story well. Sure, you miss out on a few of the details that the TV series gives you, but I think it's for the best. Plus, the movies are usually considered the canon version of the two. I try to show Encounters in Space to no...

Re: The Official Gundam AGE Anime Thread Mk 1

I'm going to plead ignorance and hope one of you guys who've been following the info from the series from the start could help me out. What is the different age aspects to this show? From what I gathered, it has three different ages, more like eras, with three different pilots? I thought the AGE ref...

Re: It will come: the US trailer to Turn-A Gundam arrives

Well, the fact that opera is musical does complicate things up a bit but, with its strong focus on solo work and performance I think understanding the language might add to the experience. However, I have never been an opera fan (unless you count Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd) so I'm not the best sourc...

Re: It will come: the US trailer to Turn-A Gundam arrives

Lastly, I'm of the mind that if you cannot speak a language you are not qualified to accurately judge a performance done in said language. Languages are pretty complex, and without understanding a given language I just have a hard time believing a person can fully grasp the subtle cues and intonati...

Re: It will come: the US trailer to Turn-A Gundam arrives

But at the end of the day, the Japanese don't have to read while watching their animation, and other countries' animation doesn't or rarely requires a great deal of reading, as this distracts from the richness and dynamic nature of the visuals. I've been hearing this complaint from people going on ...

Re: ZZ opening....

This is a serious question and not sarcastic: this isn't your first time watching gundam show is it? Can you think of another series where they actually show the mid season upgrade gundam in the first OP sequence? G Gundam? nope Seed? nope, 00? Nope. I think SEED comes closest; we get our first pee...

What about CCA? They showed the Nu Gundam's head before the opening credits. Does that count?

Has there been any word on a price? I'll be picking this up and it's cost is going to determine if I get it immediately or have to wait a little while.

Re: The Official Gundam AGE Anime Thread Mk 1

Does anyone else feel like this series is the same, but different? It seems like it has the same typical story, but still feels very different. I don't know, I just get this feeling while watching the trailers and everything that it's the same Gundam we've been seeing...yet not. Perhaps it's the cha...

Re: The Official Gundam AGE Anime Thread Mk 1

Well, it has been about 17 years since we've had a super robot Gundam.... :D I say, bring it on! ???????????????? The 00 Gundams were as super robot as anything in the franchise, with the possible exception of the Turn A. To be fair, I believe he was referring to G Gundam which was a true super rob...

Re: Transformers General Discussion thread

The only one I've seen in its entirety is Beast Wars which was pretty awesome. I've seen bits and pieces of the other series (mainly G1, though). Most of the new shows never really attracted me, but they seemed fun, I guess. The comics...well, I'm a big comic reader and I've tried tons of Transforme...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk II

Today at New York Comic Con/New York Anime Fest, they had a showing of the dubbed version of episode 1 of Unicorn, but then they showed the first 14 minutes of episode 2. The dubbing isn't that bad at all, I must say. Also, Full Frontal really does make a splendid entrance in the second episode. It ...

G Gundam would be the kid who everyone questions if his real father was the milkman? He definitely resembles the mother, but they don't really see much of the father in him, lol.

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk II

I don't understand why people are worried about the Japanese DVD release having subtitles/dub. Blu-rays may be the same region both here and in Japan, but DVDs still aren't. Shouldn't it be the NA DVD release that's questioned? I don't think anyone's really worried about the Japanese DVD, but it's ...
