Re: Minovsky Particles and Detection Distance
2) Minovsky particle interference affects the long-wavelength (low-frequency) end of the spectrum, so it blocks radio waves and disrupts microwaves, but doesn't have much effect on infra-red and red wavelengths. As we've noted, the earliest warning of enemy attacks usually comes via thermal (infra-...

Re: Minovsky Particles and Detection Distance
From what I can tell, MP are used in UC Gundam like today's military use smoke grenade. It's like a glorified version of it, with Jamming effect and also disrupting beam weaponry trajectory effect. With thickness and density around the battlefield vary greatly, one might be able to see from 100km a...

Re: Ep. 115 - Gundamn!...Into Darkness
When did the angry fanboys take over MAHQ? "There have only been 4,000 pre-orders of Origin!", "it should have been triple that!". Talk about hoping and dreaming. The idea that a written publication of a niche product in a niche industry was somehow going to be "super succes...

Re: The Hopers & Dreamers Corner with SBR
With "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin" manga being re-released in the US and an anime adaptation having been green-lit, my hope and dream is that (1) Bandai/Sunrise remake the entire original trilogy; Origin followed by some Zeta remake and ZZ/CCA remake and that (2) if remade they are kept...

It took 10 years for Asemu and his chicky to pop out a kid?
Yes, that's the first and only thing remarkable I noticed about the episode >_> (otherwise good ep.)
Edit - Nvm, bad math. Im an idiot.

Baby Makin'
In the Universal Century, half of the human population supposedly dies during the course of the One Year War (this is up to debate due to inconsistencies). 5.5 billion people die, 5.5 billion people are still alive. However by the time of the Gryps Conflict the population was already back up to 10 b...

Re: Ranking System in UC
Also have to remember that the Earth Federation Space Forces were comprised of both Army and Navy personnel, they lacked an independent rank or command structure. Though I believe that was only in regards to it's commissioned officers.

Re: CE Gundam and the American Gundam Fanbase.
What? Lalah recieved relatively little characterization, but most of what's there portray her as rather selfish. She knows that both Char and Amuro have feelings for her, and that they hate each other -- rather than choosing one over the other, she tries to keep them both, and gets killed for her t...

Re: How Minovsky particles were spread on earth.
So basically Zeon spread them or caused them to spread around the globe when they first attacked Earth and the effect just caused it to linger for months?

How Minovsky particles were spread on earth.
This has probably been asked before, but the search feature is so broken it's near useless (Minovsky and/with particle was too common to search for XD) As the title says, how exactly were Minovsky Particles spread on Earth w/o the proximity of a fleet of warships? Just MS and vehicles running around...

Re: True acceleration rates? MS-06F Zaku II as example.
Physics was my favorite subject outside of history back in high school, but I haven't had any dealings with it for 4+ years so I admit that I'm a bit rusty XD But you explained my mistake very well. At an acceleration of 5.75 ms/^2, a Zaku II over the course of 10 seconds increases its speed to 10 m...

Re: True acceleration rates? MS-06F Zaku II as example.
Thank you Seraphic, that tidbit actually helps me in doing any future math right the first time XD And another thanks to Mark for clearing the rest up. Not to sound like an idiot if I am wrong, but would that likewise mean a Zaku II can travel about 33 meters in a single second? Or is that a confusi...

True acceleration rates? MS-06F Zaku II as example.
I became curious as too the true acceleration rates, or the way to calculate true acceleration rates for mobile suits (UC) in space/a vacuum. The 'G' acceleration rate just always bugged me so I wanted to crack open the physics side of my brain and see what I came up with. Unfortunately being nearly...

Re: How far away are we from Mecha Show Tech Levels?
You'll be seeing small-scale bi-pedal/quadruped vehicles within the next 10-20 years and full-scale combat bi-pedal/legged vehicles within the next 50 having replaced MBTs as the main battlefield armor. Currently tanks are in the same position battleships were in the 30s and 40s; an expensive widely...

FF-S3 Saberfish question
Was the Saberfish always able to travel in both space and the atmosphere or was it an upgrade after the OYW? In all the media I've never seen the standard FF-S3 Saberfish travel in the atmosphere during the OYW era, however years later we see them in Zeta Gundam defending Jaburo. Could the FF-3 Sabe...

Re: Mega-particle beam range(???)
See this thread . As for the 0083 CD Cinema, it doesn't specify units for any of the ranges mentioned. The two ships are still exchanging fire when they've closed to range 1,500, so if the mystery units were actually meters, this would mean they're firing at each other from less than a mile away an...

Re: Beam range
Some sources give the effective range of the Gundam's beam rifle as 20 kilometers - in space, anyway; it's substantially reduced in atmosphere. The Guncannon's beam rifle is a long-range type with a range of 30 kilometers. I've seen it claimed that a Musai's mega particle cannons have four times th...

Mega-particle beam range(???)
What is the maximum range of a mega-particle beam? Going off the Lung Sea Battle (0083 CD Drama) and Gundam Officials, mega-particle beam attenuation doesn't begin to occur to at least 22,500 meters distance, which seems about right compared at least to what EB 39 stated as the effective firing rang...
